Halo isn't relevant anymore. It's gone the way of Final Fantasy where it's last good game was decades ago and the younger generation don't know or even care about the franchise.
Why can't they just run games at 60fps? Why does there always have to be super sampling and deep learning super sampling and super resolution upscaling technology and frame generation interpolated technology.
Just get the game to run natively at 60, no?. Stop applying 10 layers of smoke and mirror tricks and post processing layers over my image. Can my game just look nice and crisp please without the nonsense? How much input lag does this introduce? How much does it smudge the image?
Also, apparently you need to have certain specific hardware with special features (VRR/free sync) to even get the most out of it. So open those wallets off.
Imagine if we had social media back in the day and every absolutely garbage licensed game developed had to put out a public apology. There would be 5 a week.
I have absolutely zero hope for anything modern day AAA from Microsoft. Especially not a PD reboot. It will never ever recapture the feeling or essence of the original.
They removed the weekly new unique item reward with free currency. So instead of getting a new item for completing the weekly challenges you get some currency that's maybe 10/20% towards buying an item. So you'll have to grind for weeks to buy an item that you used to get in 1 weekly challenge.
They also halved the amount of new content in Operation events. Last one had 14 new items. This new one has 7. With the rest of the pass being filled with free currency. So instead of just getting new content as you progress the event, again, you have to grind to purchase any new items, of which there's fewer.
There's 21 items to purchase with free currency. Only 5 of them are new items. 16 are old items. So they've halved the new content in exchange for that you can grind for mostly old items. And the shop refreshes in 6 weeks so anything you didnt grind for you don't get to buy it anymore after the refresh.
ONE armor color is 30,000 points. You get 1000 points a week for the challenge and 250 per day if you play one match. So it will take 3.5 weeks of playing every day to get a single armor coating that would just be unlocked by playing an event normally.
Halo Infinite and 343 is the epitome of 1 step forward, 30 steps back.
I think all these big companies are deciding to put the obvious dead on arrival looking games on ice now after mega flops like Saints Row, Hyenas, Forspoken and Suicide Squad.
These companies arent willing to bankroll 7 year, $200,000,000 flops any longer. Which is good!
Will this be cross play though? I can't find any confirmation of this.
The tags in the Xbox shop do NOT have cross play. I won't support a multiplayer game in 2024 that's segregated across 4 different platforms. That's ridiculous and outdated and shouldn't be supported.

I bet you any game in development will change 0% without these employees. Half the people being laid off are fluff management roles and not videogame development related at all.
Why won't the games media acknowledge that companies have insane bloat? Nintendo have 5000 employees. Blizzard had 22,000.
These companies are just shedding unnecessary roles. How many writers do you need? Do you need 40 writers when you could get away with 20? Do you need 80 artists when you could get away with 50? Consultants, social media managers. There's so much fluff and bloat but nobody ever acknowledges it. Why?
