@Ken_Kaniff agreed. Diminishing returns on graphics combined with sky high console costs aren’t a good combo for selling new hardware. Personally I’m going to stick with my S2 and pro probably for many many years after the next gen comes out and I usually upgrade quickly.

I hope he’s successful with the film and sequel but self funding something like that these days will likely have a rather large budget. Hope he’s got lots of cash or gets investment asp Sleeping Dogs 2 would be amazing!

I totally wasn’t expecting a drive with helix as Xbox were trying to champion digital with the X1 release ten years ago.

However I’m sure Asha is keeping an eye on the situation and wouldn’t be surprised if they did a 180 just to appeal to PS gamers. It would gain my business for example which I know is just one case but it’d also build a lot of goodwill for the Xbox brand. Something that is massively needed in my opinion. Sometimes they need to look past the spreadsheet and give customers what they want.

I was there back on OG Xbox for Halo. By the end of Halo 2 I lost interest.

@VeganH true which is why western companies should look to Nintendo in how to manage studios. They hardly ever lay people off and weather the storms.

Superb game though and I still hold out hope all these years later Nintendo will one day revisit the franchise.

@Markatron84 agree and am sure Nintendo don’t like the prospect of potentially low sales however they used to champion much more random games like chibi robo, Dillon’s rolling western etc. It would be nice if they continued doing that but even games like Pushmo have disappeared, which are no brainers for the switch in my mind. They seem mostly set on big franchises only these days sadly.

Though like @acmiguens said other franchises with low sales still exist like Metroid and pikmin so I hold out hope! Even if they just made wave race as a AA game with a lower budget that’d be cool.

@Titntin you can resell the licence you have on disc. You can’t do that digitally, that’s reason enough people want it to stick around.

@somnambulance while I agree with you, Xbox have been the masters of u-turns so I wouldn’t put it past them to carry on with physical just as a middle finger to Sony.

This is an easy win, it depends if they value hardcore fans more than game sales profitability. My guess is the latter though they can gain a massive amount of goodwill here even if they just make helix with an optional drive.

Will likely wait for it to go on sale.

Though I did also have a lot for OG Xbox.

If helix has a drive or an optional drive with physical media still available I would buy it and leave PS behind.

@Tasuki it really does feel like that doesn’t it. This gen has been a disaster in many ways, it feels like the golden age of gaming has passed.

I think I’m just at a point where I’m done with gaming and that’s not even an exaggeration. MS and Sony have played a big part in running my favourite pastime and no physical is a no go for me.

I’ve wanted for a long time to find time for things like music production and learning another language among other things and feel this will push me over the edge to pick up new hobbies by leaving games behind.

If I feel like playing I’ve got a massive backlog and old consoles that’ll keep me going and can always play cheaper indy games if I need more.

I feel strongly about these anti consumer decisions, bad studio and game management, constant BS from company execs, the list could go on. The final straw has broken the camels back for me.

If Xbox has a drive on helix I’ll jump ship.

No executive at Xbox or Sony deserve any of their massive wages. They should forfeit their bonuses for the atrocious management they’ve provided over this generation.

They’ve ruined many people’s livelihoods and should be held accountable.

@Jean_McClane hah definitely the best AC that’s not AC ever! I always said it was a great pirate game but a terrible assassins creed.

Still undecided myself but may pick it up in a sale.

@AI-Generation have to say pssr2 was better than I expected myself. On black flag I think it has full ray tracing at 60, full resolution so will hopefully be just as good as other games.

@Millionski agree, the extra 1 inch makes a big difference in reality. At least the S2 is getting more 3rd party support of big titles and they generally seem to be coming quicker than they did on S1.

It’s rare to see such early footage but will now be interesting to see how this develops until release.

Seems a good way get feedback early on as well so they have time to make changes if needed.

@Balaam_ couldn’t agree more. Phil has been given the boot and walked out of head office no doubt with a handsome severance package. All the C-suite earning big bucks after running the business into the ground, meanwhile lower level employees, devs etc lose their jobs. It’s a disgrace.
