Multiple Old Xbox Games Are Suddenly Getting Millions Of Views On Social Media

If you're not a big user of social media these days, we absolutely wouldn't blame you, but it's part of the job here at Pure Xbox - and one of the things we've noticed is a new account called "Xbox Nostalgia" that's been getting attention.

There's nothing particularly mind-blowing about this account — it simply posts gameplay footage of Xbox titles from the past — but it's racked up a large number of followers, and therefore a lot of likes over the past few months.

Our sister site Time Extension covered their footage of Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer, for example, which prompted loads of people all over social media to marvel at how impressive the water physics were in that 2002 game!

But what about everything else? Well, we've gone through their posts to see the footage that's proven most popular, and while there are plenty of examples of games like Halo and many other classics from over the years that have racked up hundreds of thousands of views, it's surprising to see that the most popular ones are quite obscure titles!

Ed, Edd n Eddy: The Mis-Edventures from 2005, for example, has 16,000 likes and almost 700,000 views. Iron Man from 2007 has 17,000 likes and 1.2 million views. Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer has 18,000 likes and 6.5 million views. And Bee Movie? That one has 26,000 likes and 12.5 million views!

It goes to show there's definitely a lot of nostalgia for some of these "cult classic" Xbox games from the original Xbox and Xbox 360 eras, even though most of them weren't considered to be among the "best" games of the time.

Are the respective companies behind these titles missing a trick by not making them playable for modern audiences? Toy Story 3, for example, is another popular game on the Xbox Nostalgia channel, and it was recently announced to be getting a remaster alongside the other old Toy Story games in October. Could they realistically do the same with Bee Movie, Iron Man or Ed, Edd n Eddy in the future? It's food for thought!

In any case, we've had some fun browsing through the Xbox Nostalgia account this afternoon and discovering stuff we'd totally forgotten about, so feel free to go and do the same if you're interested! We'll keep an eye on it and let you know if any other games end up trending in a massive way because of this account in the future.
