Following yesterday's news about Xbox layoffs and cancellations for the likes of Everwild and Perfect Dark, there's been concern over State of Decay 3 - a game that's gone quiet since appearing at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024.
Nevertheless, it sounds like the game is safe at Xbox Game Studios, at least for now. This was first reported by Windows Central's Jez Corden yesterday, although he admitted it's hard to know what the future holds for it.
Xbox Game Studios chief Matt Booty also suggested in his internal statement yesterday that Everwild and Perfect Dark were the only publicly-known games being cancelled at Xbox, with the others being "several unannounced projects".
"We have made the decision to stop development of Perfect Dark and Everwild as well as wind down several unannounced projects across our portfolio."
We've definitely got questions about what's going on with State of Decay 3 right now though. It obviously didn't appear at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 despite a recent report suggesting it was "closer to being finished than you'd think", and developer Undead Labs even shared a cryptic tease just a few days before that event took place.
