As much as I enjoyed my x360 the Xbox store has gone down hill with the Metro redesign. And more and more games have been pulled over the years there is almost nothing on the x360 store at all. I think MS just can't keep the x360 store running in it's current form and they have no way to fix it. The only reason the ps3/vita stores are still available is Sony was likely able to downgrade the store to there original launch non web versions.
Hard to say. A former developer on the game was surprised that the game was released in the was it was and thought it needed a full rework. I think MS/ Xbox just figured it was better to just release the game as it, take the hit and move on to other games/ projects. Perhaps with the final patch I might play and finish the game. Like Far Cry 5 it's like better played after having a few beers or so.
The problem with GTA 5 is most of it's sales are from the original x360/ps3 version which launched without multiplayer. Rockstar has made so much money from the online version they haven't bothered with a new GTA 6, until now. I don't know what Rockstar is going to do with GTA 6, but I think they are going to go for live service/ multiplayer focused and the single player is likely a minor aspect of GTA 6. I don't know why creating weather is important, not something I want in a game but Rockstar seems to think it's important.
Valhalla killed off any interest I previously had in the series. Finished Odyssey and that's good enough for me, don't feel any need to play anymore games in the series, ever. And I've played all the previous games from the first game on the x360. The problems with Valhalla and Mirage was I was bored playing the games, and if that's the case, even if it's a easy achievement game I almost always stop playing and never touch the game again, ever.
I did have an original Xbox and it did have lots of unique games but the X360 is largely what got me into the Xbox. The ps3 launched selling for about $700 where I am so the price immediately turned be off getting a ps3 and I went with x360 instead. Grabbed a x360 for $400, $100 off the regular price. I also enjoyed getting achievements for playing games since this was a first. Even with other consoles my Xbox consoles are my main consoles.
I personally think the whole Activation was a big mistake and has backfired because it was too big and was not given a chance to succeed. The COD titles were a huge money maker but it massively inflated the price and if they did a deal without COD and just everything else they could of gotten all the older games and the King mobile at a fraction of the price. Perhaps I'm wrong but this is what I think the problem was.
I would say what Xbox is trying to focus on new markets rather then just stay tied down to the Xbox consoles. The biggest issue is if these new markets will actually be profitable. One of the biggest problems is that new consoles or new platforms need games otherwise they don't go anywhere. Another issue is that even with excellent games you still need good marketing to get people to try the games. It seems to be both Sony and Microsoft are limiting the games they want to produce.
There is a good reason why the ps3 store is still available but that the x360 store will be shut down. For the ps3 Sony had an older version which was not web enabled then they later upgraded to a web enabled version. It seems that Sony was able to roll back the store on the vita and ps3 to there older versions. For the x360 the interface was changed multiple times but I believe much of the core functionality remained the same. MS did patch some kind of glitch which allowed demo arcade games to be unlocked without paying, likely there were more problems. I personally feel that the Kinect/Metro designs killed off the x360, at least in my opinion.
My attitude was with the launch of the Series Xbox the x360 was completely dead. The x360 console was a rocking console when it was released, despite it's limitations. Unfortunately games got pulled from the x360 store and the final update with the metro design was terrible. I see lots of old x360 and original x1 consoles at my local game store, I don't think many people want them anymore. They even have lots of x360 games for sale, I think they largely stopped buy anymore because they don't sell.
I can only see marginal differences between the Series S and the Series X. Given the marginal differences in performance between the X and S and the fact the Series X is basically double the price of the Series S, I believe the Series S is the way to go.
I personally am quite happy with the new MS rewards program. The cost to redeem for a $5 Xbox card is lowered and it's easy to get free points with minimal effort. I have be getting $5 gift cards every month or two, since they only cost 3500 points but Ultimate is 12000 points unfortunately. Under the old rules it was hard to rack up points unless you spent ages doing pointless activities.
Honestly this happens often when a game is remastered or released for a new console. On a few rare occasions the older games are still available for purchase but in most cases publishers pull the old games and stop selling the older versions, which is very easy to do with digital versions.
I think that all games should be able to get all achievements even if the multiplayer mode has been removed. Also older titles that are only available on the x360 should be played on the x1 or better. At the very least digital titles should be available on newer consoles. Even if games aren't 100% compatible I wouldn't see a problem.
Well Yes and No. For X1 games that don't have a series version they will run on a usb drive no problem. For Xbox series or X1/series enhanced games they will only run on the external or an expansion card so those games need to be managed.
@GeeEssEff Hear are the ratios in Canada Sony $1 - 10 points 1250 points $5 MS $1 - 20 points 3465 points $5 I have Level 2 with MS and Level 3 with Sony. Yes there is a reduced amount of points required but there is almost no way to earn points outside of purchases, as long as you subscribe to PS plus. Without PS plus you earn nothing. MS actually allows you to earn free points without purchasing anything.
Honestly it not bad. Nintendo gives very little points. With Nintendo you only get a few gold points which can be used for purchasing games, platinum points are for digital content like in mobile Nintendo games or Switch avatars, or a few items can be bought after paying shipping. Playstation has the stars program which only give's points on purchases if you have ps + and you can only get a handful of points otherwise, spend $70 - $90 on a game you can get 50 points on selected games and a $5 Playstation card is 1250 points.
I like that various x360 games go on sale but I wish all x360 bc titles when on sale at least at some point. Infinite Undiscovery is bc but it is only available at $20 and has never been on sale.
One issue that is being overlooked is that consoles aren't coming down in price like previous generations. Perhaps it took awhile for prices to drop and cuts were small but they were there, now several years into this console generation the Xbox, Playstation and Switch have remained at the same price at launch. Then they want to release a next generation consoles when in my opinion there is little need.
I believe the issue is there is a huge number of games getting released every week so it's hard for a game to stand out. Without either the game being on game pass or being in a Xbox promo video game can get easily ignored. I personally don't know more than a small handful of third party games that don't get some Xbox release( outside of NIS America titles).
@lacerz I simply don't buy, "It to hard to develop games for the Series Xbox" when more and more developers are actually releasing games for the Series Xbox. I can see way more developers releasing Xbox versions of games for the Series Xbox then the Xbox One. The parity clause means developers have to make there games work on both the Series X and S, but it does seem that MS will allow certain games to remove features with permission from MS. The only major developer that doesn't release games for the Xbox is NIS America. Ubisoft, EA, Square Enix, Atlas, Sega all release games for the Xbox, so I am struggling to think of an another major game publisher.
What I think the bigger issue is that if a developer doesn't bother with a Xbox version they right off the bat limit there potential sales, and I suspect that most developers realize that the series Xbox is a growing platform and creating games just for the Xbox will limit sales. And some developers will only release games for the Playstation and Switch no Xbox version. At the same time if a game can run on the switch there is no reason why a developer can't make a series Xbox version. And this " so called developer" is never named( perhaps it's Sony?)
Personally I never saw many of the extra rewards that were available. The weekly quests were always available but the monthly quests were only introduced for about 6 months then they permanently disappeared. The sale push cards and the 3 movies over $5 were good more disappointing they left. But I am happy that they lowered the point cost for the $5 gift cards and you can get points just for playing on the Xbox. What would be nice is if they brought back points offers, were if you bought x amount in games you got x amount of points.
@Dean80 I will admit the huge number of indie games on game pass is frustrating but unfortunately most new games are indie games since the number of bigger titles getting released has dropped off.
What I see is that right now more and more games that were exclusive to the Playstation getting a series Xbox release. I will admit the X1 is all but dead but the series Xbox keeps getting more games. Yes a handful of developers don't like the Series S, but they just have to reach out to MS like what happened with Baulder's Gate 3. Perhaps the sales on the Xbox aren't increasing but I believe the Playstation 5 is leveling off the same.
@CutchuSlow Correct but the one in the back doesn't support a standard usb port and only the usb in the front on the right side will support a usb drive. I didn't know about the one in the back or that it wasn't a standard one until I checked.
The x360 was original with a wide variety of games that were fun to play. The Wii sold the most consoles but has anyone played the Wii games, most were a near nightmare to actually play. The biggest problems with the X1 was the forced Kinect 2.0 and believing adding a HDMI input for TV would be hugely successful. The ps4 was successful even though it only supports 1 external usb over the 3 the x1 supports and the ps4 can only play DVD in 480p, but blu ray discs are fine. The X1X and X1S have a 4k blu ray player but I doubt many people actually used it.
My prediction is that the original Xbox Series X will be the last console to support physical discs. My getting rid of a disc drive it would reduce the cost and allow the machine to be much smaller.
It nice that in Canada they have reduced the points needs for a $5 gift card from the 4800 points to 3565 that you now need. Unfortunately there is considerable less ways to earn points. Outside of the game pass rewards the only other option on the Xbox is the rewards app which still gives the weekly quest (for now). Before the rewards app offered monthly quests but that only lasted a year before disappearing. There was also a punch card every month for buy 3 movies over $5 which gave ~2400 points. They also had punch cards for buying so much in movies or games that were on sale, now permanently gone. I hope they keep give the weekly quests, I was on a 70 week streak and unfortunately it got reset.
The paramount + perk doesn't work, at least for me. It doesn't give or offer the 3 months it just wants me to pay full price right off the bat. Still the upcoming perks like expansion and starter packs look good. Any perk claimed with ultimate is permanent part of your owned content regardless if you keep ultimate.
There was no reason that FF7 couldn't of been run on the X1, even the base model would of worked, in my opinion. Both intergrade and rebirth should run fine of the series Xbox, might need minor tweaks for the series S. SE signed a 3 month exclusive deal with Sony, so anytime after that the game has the potential to get a Xbox release. At the same time after playing FF7 remake I really am not concerned about a Xbox release since I found it underwhelming. Still most other JRPG games get a Xbox release, outside of games by NIS.
My opinion is that Final Fantasy XV ruined the series and it lost much of the original magic older games had. To me the Silver Age was FF VII, VIII and IX, and the Golden Age was FF X, XII and XIII trilogy. FF XV and FF VII remake are not bad games, but not nearly as amazing or unique as the older games.
I believe that Sony owning the rights to Blu-ray discs is also behind Xbox push into all digital. The next Xbox series X will be all digital so likely only the original Xbox series X is likely be the only Series Xbox to support physical discs.
@Fiendish-Beaver They stopped making the Kinect after launching the X1X. Only the original X1 has the Kinect port, the S and X models can use Kinect but you need a adapter. And unfortunately Kinect will not work with the series Xbox.
I have not been overly interested in the Monster Hunter Games, but I would like to see the Gundam games getting a Xbox release, the last Gundam games to get released for the Xbox were Dynasty Warriors Gundam 1-3 for the x360. I also get that the Gundam games are kind of a Niche game so I am not overly surprised that they don't want to make a Xbox port.
Both were a mixed bag. The games for Kinect on the x360 were fun, were very short. The Kinect did require to be properly set up, but you only had to do this once, unlike the Wii which forced you to setup the Wii remotes every time you played a Wii game. On the X1 Kinect had potential but forcing integration into the dashboard was a mistake. Kinect 2.0 was basically dead at launch since MS didn't line up a collection of games at launch. If Kinect used some form of handheld sensor it would of worked much better.
I hope that if Tales of Arise joins game pass the dlc will finally go on sale. I already own the digital version of Tales but I want the dlc but I don't want to pay $40. $20 would be good.
Hear is the most bizarre thing. The Gadget game got a digital only release for X1/series Xbox but the ps4 has no digital version only a physical release but only the ps5 has a digital version.
I think the games should release on Xbox only on day 1 then get ported to other consoles perhaps a year or two down the road. Any game that is a failure can be ported sooner like Redfall and Starfield. Elder Scrolls 6 should release for Xbox only at launch then get a Playstation version later down the road.
Personally I see little real value to the EA added on to game pass ultimate. Sure you get a handful of older EA titles but no day 1, and most EA titles can be bought on sale reasonably cheap.
I find game pass is ultimately worth the money at the end of the day. I will admit it is heavily focused on indie games but when 90% of new titles are indie games it is inevitable. Still get some good full priced games and there are lots of titles that I'm on the fence and game pass gives me a chance to play it, perhaps finish it, perhaps buy the game or perhaps find the game isn't worth playing and I don't waste money on a bad game. Starfield and Redfall are both in the category of, it looks like a good game I might buy, but once I actually play the game I realize it's not for me. Decided to grab the persona 3 portable and persona 4 bundle before it left game pass after checking out the game. Persona 3 reloaded looks cool. Turnip boy robs a bank is fun, likely wouldn't pay $30, but playing it with game pass is cool. The upcoming 100 heroes game look good as well.
If its a subscription only item it's going to be a single play though and for TV streaming services it watch what you like then cancel the subscription until there is more games you want to play or movies you want to watch.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The Xbox Kinect?
Both were a mixed bag. The games for Kinect on the x360 were fun, were very short. The Kinect did require to be properly set up, but you only had to do this once, unlike the Wii which forced you to setup the Wii remotes every time you played a Wii game. On the X1 Kinect had potential but forcing integration into the dashboard was a mistake. Kinect 2.0 was basically dead at launch since MS didn't line up a collection of games at launch. If Kinect used some form of handheld sensor it would of worked much better.
Re: These Eight Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (February 6-20)
I hope that if Tales of Arise joins game pass the dlc will finally go on sale. I already own the digital version of Tales but I want the dlc but I don't want to pay $40. $20 would be good.
Re: Indie Game Gets Overlooked For Xbox, Publisher Suddenly Changes Decision
Hear is the most bizarre thing. The Gadget game got a digital only release for X1/series Xbox but the ps4 has no digital version only a physical release but only the ps5 has a digital version.
Re: Starfield, Indiana Jones And Many Other 'Xbox Exclusives' Could Be Heading To PS5
I think the games should release on Xbox only on day 1 then get ported to other consoles perhaps a year or two down the road. Any game that is a failure can be ported sooner like Redfall and Starfield. Elder Scrolls 6 should release for Xbox only at launch then get a Playstation version later down the road.

@Kaloudz The Naruto might be available in Canada, I guess I'll see.
Re: Xbox Might Be Looking Into A Handheld Console As PlayStation Rumours Circulate
This is cool since green heart, Vert will finally have a CPU candidate and after ~16 games it's about time.
Re: Talking Point: How Important Is EA Play To You On Xbox Game Pass?
Personally I see little real value to the EA added on to game pass ultimate. Sure you get a handful of older EA titles but no day 1, and most EA titles can be bought on sale reasonably cheap.
Re: These 10+ Games Are Coming To Xbox Next Week (January 29 - February 2)
Re: Ubisoft Wants Players To 'Feel Comfortable Not Owning Games' In Future
If its a subscription only item it's going to be a single play though and for TV streaming services it watch what you like then cancel the subscription until there is more games you want to play or movies you want to watch.
