As someone who got his first Xbox ever last June I'd have to disagree with you.

I too did the Gold to Gamepass ultimate conversion for 3 years and it came to £100

In that time, I have managed to beat these games that came out in 2023

Buying them by themselves would have cost me £180. I now get Persona 3 Reloaded and thats another £60 saved. I didnt even mention playing the Halo/Gears franchises for the first time and having access to the latest FIFA games as a footie fan.

I imagine by the end of 3 years, i would have saves thousands of pounds. $5/month for all these games plus the activision games coming this year is insane value.

When someone sits down and does the maths, they will quickly realise paying for 1 year of gamepass is better than buying the new COD game every year especially if that's all they play.

The vast majority of gamers don't come to places like this. They play Fifa, COD and maybe one or two exclusives here and there. Getting those games on Gamepass Day 1 is going to be way cheaper than buying outright.

Surprised this hasn't been the norm.

Give people a taste and once they get used to it, they will re-up their subscription

I expect this to be contested in the courts for several years.

That is an insane amount of money.

I reckon they start putting their older titles on game pass bit by bit and then drop one of their newer games day 1 on game pass starting Nov 2024.

I expect a nice boost to the player count and it was my first multiplayer game I really got addicted to in 2007.

As a Yakuza fan, its insane we are getting these games day 1 on Gamepass.

I have 5 Xbox games including Spider-Man 2 & FF7 Rebirth to go through and I haven't even touched Final Fantasy 16 yet.

This was a wise decision by the publisher as there was no way majority of people were choosing this over the big hitters like Yakuza etc

Microsoft to buy Ubisoft within 5 years.

Will continue with Fifa 23 and wait for this on Gamepass.

Original COD games on Gamepass is all I want.

People who frequent these kind of sites like you and I are in the VAST minority of gamers.

There is a reason why people on here consistently complain about yearly sports / call of duty games but they almost always go on to be the best selling games of the year for a reason because the masses buy it.

Like A Dragon alone makes it an A+ for me

A lot of us are first time xbox users because of the Series S and i am certain this goes for a lot of people.

The low entry point is the main reason I got it. Would not have gotten an xbox for £449

RGG releases banger after banger 1-2 years apart and Western developers take a decade to release 1 game

2028 seems about right for the next gen consoles. Most generations last 8 years.

I expect a lot of the above to change between now and then but anyone surprised Microsoft pushing an all digital future has not been paying attention to Gamepass and their strategy for the past few years.

Elder Scrolls 6 is 1000% not coming next year lol.

Well Said. Volition haven't had a solid game since Saints Row The Third which is 12 years ago at this point. Saints Row 4 was a glorified DLC.

The Reboot was the nail in the coffin and easily the worst game in the franchise.

£60 for a year of gamepass ultimate is a steal even at the 3:2 conversion.

Finishing 4 games in 20 years with 1200 games owned sounds like a severe lack of attention span.

A year of Gamepass with the gold conversion method is still a whole load of bang for your buck with Activision games soon to join along with this.

Them dropping support would almost certainly lead to a lawsuit of false advertisement.

Myself like millions of others got their first Xbox consoles through the Series S because of the great price point. Dropping support would be a slap to those millions of people and a huge blow in trust between consumer and Microsoft. I'd certainly not buy another Xbox again after that.

This is why they should have just done the Sony approach and release a Series X with and without a disc drive.

Release the disc Series X at $499 as it did.
Release the disc less Series X at $299

Same SKU except one has a disc and the other doesn't. This satisifies people who need their disc drives and getting a series x at $299 is an insane deal for new Xbox users and people who don't care about the disc drive which leads into more Gamepass sales.

I hope this isn't around the same time as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Still can be purchased on Series consoles so not that big of a deal.

Being delisted forever or not being able to use your disc copy on your console would be worrisome.

Once locked into the Microsoft Store, sales will be less frequent and they can completely determine pricing.

Discs create competition. Can't be charging $60 for the MS Store version when the discs are going for $20.
