I think console sales are going to go off a cliff for this next generation. The diminishing returns every generation becomes more and more as time goes on. Games cant look any better than they do now, and people i think are satisfied being right where they're at now.

MS is such a disgusting company. To buy up all these studios and not have a contingency plan if there stupid GP idea failed is so short sighted and ignorant.

Its terrifying to think of where gaming will be in 10 years. I'll probably ride my launch console until it cant be repaired anymore. Even then i think i might go in reverse, and start to play my old consoles with the backlog ive amassed over the years.

The prices of next gen consoles are going to be laughable.

So now they're lying to the fans about what games are actually coming just to try and sell a studio. Sad

Why tf would they announce Senua at the Xbox Showcase if they were just going to close them weeks later? What a bunch of f@#king idiots. 🤦‍♂️

I can tell why they are departing. They were told what is fixing to happen to XGS and dont want to be a part of it.

This company always sounds like it is so mismanaged. They need to hire the people who are running Atari now. They know how to turn a company around.

Not gonna lie, this kind of has my attention. Good use of the IP.

I dont spend much time on Xbox anymore, but the badges for the gamer score is a cool update.

The only reason MS and Asha are pushing the "recommitting to the fans" act is because they're in a marketing push for Project Helix. If that console wasnt coming you wouldn't hear any of this.

This is all a marketing ploy to drum up excitement before Project Helix releases. Nothing more, nothing less. The people that hang on these executives words are sad. I dont believe anything MS or Sony says. When they do speak its just to get you to buy something. If Project Helix doesnt sell well they will go right back to how that were...I promise you.

Plus on top of that GP kills any notion of this happening. Games will just never sell enough if they're exclusive.

I bet you they lost so many ultimate subs with the price increase that this was the only viable way to try and build that level back up, and removing COD kind of offsets it. Wouldn't be surprised if it goes back up in the future.

It wont matter what they do at this point. If they go back to exclusives there sales are killed by GP. It will make the die hearts happy, but will kill the brand. I say this because very little people are going to leave whatever platform they're currently on because they have amassed massive libraries of games. The console wars are over and Xbox will need to find a new strategy. Maybe cancel GP all together and go back to making there fanbase pay for there games. 🤷‍♂️

It wont matter either way in this digital world Sony/MS wanted. I come from the physical era and yes every new console i carefully considered which one I'd buy off of what they offered. Because most people left there old consoles and games behind and you started anew. Nowadays thats not the case. People have their huge libraries and there not going anywhere. So MS can make whatever they want exclusive, but its a moot point.

If they do go this route you'll see poor sales of these games (especially if they're on GP) and then more layoffs and studio closures because of it, and MS citing "poor economic situations" as the excuse.

This isn't about the fans. This is about revenue dropping since the price hikes.

I guess this studio will just never do anything but these games. 🤷‍♂️

@fatpunkslim That cant happen with exclusives when you spend almost 100 billion dollars on two publishers and your install base is less than 40 million. On top of that most of them are on GP and aren't paying a dime for the games. Revenue for these game developments have to come from somewhere man.

Returning to exclusives would be a death wish. The only reason they went multiplatform in the first place is because there user base is floundering and continues to be. Between this and the majority of the users being on GP, they would practically be giving the games away for free, or to little sales at all if this move was ever made. They need the sales from PC/PS5/Switch to survive.

The one thing Phill said years ago thats so true is that it doesnt matter what great exclusives they have. Xbox lost the most important generation (the last) because everyone built up their digital libraries then, and people aren't going to move from those. I for one can speak on this. I used to own an Xbox and moved over during the late PS3 era, and have amassed thousands of games since. Theirs nothing that could make me leave that platform outside of losing my account.

As someone that has dabbled in all three consoles throughout my life. Their is no way I would trust a word MS ever says as far as strategy and consoles go..

I feel like from the title changes that they are trying to kill off the Xbox brand. Wouldn't be surprised if this next console didn't have Xbox in the name.

Even as a primary PS gamer ive always kind of liked Phil. This genuinely makes me sad.

My prediction is Sony will announce Starfield at their State of Play in a few weeks.
