Just in case anyone was in any doubt after Xbox announced two new console exclusives as part of the Xbox Games Showcase today, it's been confirmed that neither of those games are "timed" exclusives in any fashion.
In other words, both Gears of War: E- Day and Clockwork Revolution will remain locked to Xbox consoles, although they'll also be on PC as well. Here's the official Xbox Wire statement that confirms this:
"As part of our focus on the return of XBOX, we also announced that Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be XBOX console exclusives. These are not timed exclusives. Games already announced for multiplatform releases will stick to that plan – we’re committed to investing in and growing XBOX both on console and beyond."
We didn't really expect anything like this going into today's show — it had been rumoured prior to the event that Gears of War: E-Day might not come to PS5, although a rumour from Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb suggested it was a late decision.
Regardless of whatever happened behind the scenes here, this is definitive confirmation that Xbox (and PC) will be the only way to enjoy Gears and Clockwork Revolution when they release in October 2026 and 2027 respectively.
