Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has been speaking a little bit more about the future of Xbox in a new interview with the Sources Podcast, with the interview seemingly taking place earlier this week at a Copilot event in Seattle (although there's a chance it might have been earlier in the month as well).

The snippet from the interview about Xbox is brief — you can watch the timestamped version above — but Nadella uses the opportunity to highlight all the amazing IP that Xbox currently owns, while also pointing out that inventing "the right sustainable business model" is the key to the brand's success going forward.

We've transcribed the Xbox segment below:

"I feel fantastic about the IP we have right now. If I look at the studios, the IP portfolio we have, and our ability to then take that and produce great games going forward, I feel fantastic. There's a certain amount of streamlining the team is doing and Asha [Sharma, Xbox CEO] is doing which is great to see.

And then we have to invent the right sustainable business model that allows us to deliver gaming to more and more people. That has always been the goal, which is we want to be a great publisher and a great platform provider for games across both PCs and Xboxes.

And so that is sort of our goal, and I think Asha and team have said that Xbox is going to get back to growth this next fiscal year, and that's the plan they're executing on. And in that process, do a bang up job of producing some great games."

A lot of this has been said before by the Microsoft CEO, with Nadella previously remarking back in June that the company had invested a lot into Xbox over the years, and that the key focus was on making it a sustainable business.

There have obviously been fears in some circles in recent years that Xbox might be planning to ditch the platform side of things and just become a full-on publisher, but we've heard repeatedly from Nadella and other Microsoft sources that this isn't the case, and he's once again highlighting the desire to be a "great platform provider" in this interview.
