Re: Microsoft CEO: 'We Are Redefining What It Means To Be An Xbox Fan'

Ken_Kaniff

I think most of yall are missing the point. MS is a business, and yes they do care about Xbox fans, but they care more about money. Its no different with Sony if they were in the same position. Not enough people are buying Xbox's, so they have to go down another avenue for survival.

Before anyone says if they would have just held on a little longer after the Bethesda/ABK purchases people would have jumped ship...false. No one is leaving the platforms they are on anymore. People built there digital libraries out last gen. Sony won that gen, so MS is now meeting people where they are at. They understand that.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Questions Why Sony Would Put PS5 Games On Xbox

Well...he's not wrong 🤷‍♂️. I mean I get why MS is porting games over there. They don't want too, but the benefit of the sales are too great to ignore. Especially because they aren't worried about consoles sales anymore, just mainly a GP company at this point.

@OldGamer999 Uncle Phil already said it perfectly in that interview on XCast. It doesn't matter at this point what exclusives they put out. They lost the most important generation there was (PS4/XboxOne) when people built out there digital libraries.

Re: Rumour: Xbox's PS5 Ports Have 'Slowed Down' Following Indiana Jones Announcement

@InvaderFromSpace I was just going to mention that he said the announcement was for Forza and missed on that one. I completely agree about Gears being a prequel and a perfect time to introduce a new audience. Same with Halo remaking the first one. Where the article fails to mention is this stemmed from another leaker named MAAG that said all these games were coming to Playstation. Then eXtas1s commented on it on X(Twitter).

Re: Talking Point: Does Xbox's 'New Dawn' For Halo Mean The Series Will Come To PS5?

Ken_Kaniff

@cragis0001 Yea I see what you're are saying, but it was eventually going to go this way for one of them. It was never going to stay an almost 50/50 split like it was during the 360/PS3 era. MS was in this position at the beginning of last gen and was trying to push shady tactics with DRM, Kinect etc, and it cost them and they haven't been able to recover since. I do agree with you that it's a healthy market with both of them, but with last gen being the gen everyone built out there digital libraries. Whichever platform you were on then is probably the one you stick with and nothing MS does will ever change it. Even Phil said this when he was on XCast.

Re: Rumour: Xbox Planning To Bring More Games To PS5, Despite Some 'Unease' At Microsoft

Ken_Kaniff

This all boils down to money. Xbox is a failing platform and they shot there selves in the foot by pushing for the acquisition of Bethesda and Activision. You pile the failure of Xbox with the combination of the acquisitions, then that equals Microsoft getting involved and pulling the strings. I think Phil thought MS would buy these companies and let Xbox keep losing money for 3 to 5 more years and hope that it would blossom into people flocking to Xbox. That's obviously not happening and now Phil is paying the price at the cost of Xbox becoming primarily a publisher in the future.
