Embracer Follows Ubisoft In Splitting Off New Publisher To Handle Huge IP, Tomb Raider & LOTR Included

Embracer Group has today announced plans to create a secondary publishing label called Fellowship Entertainment, in order to "capture the full potential of the high-quality assets" that the group currently owns.

The Swedish game publisher says that it hopes to spin off Fellowship Entertainment in calendar year 2027, and that the new label will become "an IP-led entertainment company" and "the stewards of The Lord of the Rings, Tomb Raider and many other great intellectual properties".

"Fellowship Entertainment will be the home of critically acclaimed studios and companies: 4A Games, Crystal Dynamics, Dambuster Studios, Dark Horse Media, Eidos-Montréal, Fishlabs, Flying Wild Hog Studios, Gunfire Games, Middle-earth Enterprises, Redoctane Games and Warhorse Studios. Fellowship Entertainment aims to create a new publishing group, operationally consolidating the talents from PLAION and other parts of the group. IPs include Darksiders, Dead Island, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Metro, Remnant, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Tomb Raider, and many more."

The announcement then notes that the 'Embracer' side of the company will work to become a "natural home for proven entrepreneurs and creative talents" - basically hinting that smaller studios, games and projects will be published by Embracer, while the company's bigger titles will be distributed by the new Fellowship Entertainment label.

We'll link to the company's full press release on this at the bottom of the article, if you'd like to get the full lowdown on this move from Embracer Group. It follows a very similar strategic shift performed by fellow publisher Ubisoft, who last year split of its own label called Vantage Games to handle some of the French company's biggest IP.
