Oh and... I prefer $60-70 initial purchase. Being free to play makes the devs get away with having less content and I gotta be honest... I give extra points on multiplayer games that are free vs ones I paid $60 because well... I paid $60.
The reason for this is that the devs are pressured to making a high end multiplayer filled with content. Most free to play games release with barebones content. I dislike the last part where it says Gamepass makes it better. No it doesn't. I don't like people using Gamepass as a an excuse for this or games that aren't that high end. It's just an excuse to not do the best at the end of the day.
Ubisoft, Sony and Xbox will be interesting to watch in the next few years. WB is releasing 4 multiplayer games very soon so that is another to see how they handle it. Hopefully, some of these actually respect our time and money.
Games should be filled with content on day one, and in fact, more content than its predecessors (which bf2042 and halo infinite aren't good examples of this), especially in a new generation where standards are higher because we know what's the best of the best from last generation.
Some games these days are releasing with less content than some games back on the 360/ps3 era. GaaS can be good, but the launch day content has to have A LOT of content (excuse the redundancy). Otherwise delay it.
I'm tired of waiting months or even years for GaaS to match previous gen multiplayer game amount of content.
Another thing GaaS worry me is that it's too dependent on whales while making the non payers grind and grind so much and the only way out of it is to pay large amounts of money for what? some operators, characters, guns etc.? I like Monster Hunter approach more. Premium expansions is the way to go imo. I paid $40 for MH iceborne and it was literally as big as the base game, and it sold 8m (probably best dlc sold??).
Heard Destiny 2 removes the content you pay for, so that's the worst way to do it imo. Overwatch was perfectly fair too.
@Dracavius What's so bad with one and done? I got better things to do. SO great!! I don't like crossplay with PC. Idk why anyone wants that, especially with mnk advantage and hackers. Cross-pogression made sense but there's less of those.
@sjbsixpack You know you can't say that on an xbox forum though. Even if it's an honest unbiased opinion, people won't like it. I agree though. Only Capcom imo are the only ones that can compete quality wise... for now. Nintendo too.
@StylesT He is saying that on a the year where Sony released an 87 and 88 (I'm using opencritic) while xbox won't release anything until fall. He's not attacking xbox directly. Just in general. That's what I got.
Wait. You said it's overrated but gave it an 8? It's 8 more points really that much of a difference?
I played it for 3 hours and it's more of the same. Bloodborne and Sekiro had more gameplay twists (guard bar, gun instead shield) than this one so idk how this one is better. I think the open world aspect makes it worst because I feel like I need to explore everything because I may miss something very valuable and sometimes I have to go through the same area just to check that corner I forgot to check.
It's more like a flat 9 so far. Might be better later.
@Odium If I knew the enemies in the area are giving a lot of souls (because some people may skip enemies and get to the boss fight without leveling up enough) I would fight a few to level up. Maybe that's an issue people have with the game too. I am thinking some may want to beat the first main boss without beating the other open world bosses.
@Bmartin001 he shouldn't be sorry. That's like saying Kojima should stop making cutscenes because you don't cutscenes. There are hundreds of games made for each one of us.
All I am saying if you can't beat a boss under an hour, go grind and come and try again. I am guessing since it's open world you will probably have to tackle everything else and then proceed to the main story boss.
There has to he some bosses that you beat on first try.
Do you really need over one hour to make some kind of progress in Souls games?
I don't see how Horizon respects my time more than Souls game. It took me 38 hours to beat and Elden Ring will be about the same and I haven't even done everything in hfw. An hour could be 1-2 side quests in HFW.
I guess if someone plays games on easy, I could see one person taking double on a souls game.
Once you beat your first one, the other ones are easier because of similarity.
People are just not used to taking seriously any enemy you see in a game. No one shot 5 enemies on their heads with a slow mo ability.
I haven't started the game, but I bet it won't be as hard as Sekiro. The guard bar makes it pretty clear it will be easier. I've seen videos. Doesn't look as hard as Sekiro.
Sekiro for me is better than Bloodborne by a bit. It actually was more different compared to DS than DS to BB. That guard bar, jumping and only having one weapon was a bigger change than no shield. Although the world of BB is cooler looking.
@Blessed_Koz I'm not paying for any services. Except for online which we have xbox to thank for that.
Yeah. Gamepass sounds better but it will be harder to justify bigger production games in the future which is why I buy new consoles.
I don't care about Sony's money, but I care that I get next gen looking games like Horizon and Elden Ring (not graphically but in scope), so I need to care a little bit, don't you think?
You want a comparison in movies/series?
Tell me a series that has a high production as big as LOTR, Harry Potter, MARVEL etc.
You get the ocassional Stranger Things and Witcher, but everything else on Netflix is fodder.
And I am looking at what the consumer is getting. Gaming is a selfish hobby. So, idc about people getting games for $15. I want my games to be bigger, not smaller.
Plus, gaming didn't need games services. We were doing fine paying $60-70 and waiting for sales.
@Quaali That sony might fight for day 1 service deals with xbox? Decreasing the value of gp?
Look at Shadow Warrior 3.
Maybe.
I don't want 7 services for movies/series along with 7 more for games though.
Still can't believe we pay for online and we know who's bright idea was it. Not to mention the double price attempt.
@Rafie The hardware, controls, online and no price drops are the things holding me back.
They have the games, but I'm interested in some IP. Mario Strikers looks good, but I don't think I'll pay $60 for that.
What I'm interested in:
Metroid
Zelda
Pokemon
Anything Platinum Games
Monster Hunter
and Smash Obviously.
Don't care for zelda's and pokemon's spin offs, mario kart, mario sports, wii sports, xenoblade, animal crossing, yoshi, kirby, DK, fire emblem, splatoon, pokken, luigis mansion and whatever else they have.
They have the best first party catalogue objetively speaking when it comes to quantity and quality (the games budgets aren't that big and development is faster), but too many titles are been there done that. People say Doom Eternal and God of War Raganarok looked more of the same, that's even worst for most Nintendo titles.
I honestly think Xbox will have more games that cater to me without having the issues I mentioned first. Funny how that changed from one gen to another one.
I don't care about PC exclusives neither. Starcraft 2 is a almost perfect game, but idc about mmos, dotas and rts games that much.
I was listening to David Jaffe and he gave an idea that made me think that, how games are made do not have to change because they must cater to a service.
I don't like services, but if I had to choose between gamepass and David Jaffe's idea, I think David Jaffe's approach is profitable.
The idea: If you own tier 2 or 3, you'll get BC ps1,ps2,ps3 games in some manner and you'll get a time period to demo full games. The selection would be bigger than gamepass, but you can't play more than a few hours of any game and the time is based on game by game case. Now this helps expose more games to people, sony and third party publishers might lose sales, but they may recoup by new customers trying the game and buying the game and anyone who was interested in it, will buy it anyways, not changing the gaming landscape. Also the subs income would help.
It doesn't benefit the consumer as much as GP, but it benefits the scope of games budgets so we can still get huge production games. Also, it will push devs to make those first hours very appealing so it promotes devs/publishers wanting to make a good attractive game. If the game is broken, has little content, it will fail. If it's so good that you need to keep playing, you buy it, maybe Sony could sell their games at $60 if you're subbed too.
@Rafie Will get an XSX whenever Starfield drops, unless it's a bad game which I doubt it.
Not interested in the switch. Would love to play metroid, platinum games, pokemon and zelda there but the console itself is holding me back. I'll wait for their next console.
@StylesT Something I wished PS had are the trophy leaderboards xbox has. I would like to see where I rank up worldwide, but that's not enough for me to enjoy. Not having a platinum doesn't give me the same psychological dopamine release lol.
@jonnybuck84 It matters. I couldn't play ratchet and horizon on 30fps quality mode. I just can't go back. Nintendo only fans will get it in 10 years if I'm being completely honest.
@themightyant Yeah, idk if Fallout 4 xbox one version was better, but there are still very noticeable bugs on ps4 (as of today). I can get those things, but 99% of games are just 5-6 frames drop during 2-3 seconds.
I'm still buying 99% of multiplats on ps5. In my country most people have a switch or a ps4/5, plus I enjoy dualsense a lot and enjoy trophies because of the platinum being more enjoyable to get for me. I was going to buy The outerworlds and Hellblade on xbox because now they own them. Diablo 4 and Wolfenstein could be the same case.
I sometimes wonder why people are still arguing about which console is stronger. I've seen games running better on ps5 and some on xsx. Plus the gap is not significant enough that will make you think the game is a 6 out of 10 now because of it. It's something I have said to PC fanboys for a long time. Witcher 3 is still an amazing game on consoles. Don't need 8k 240fps to enjoy it.
Just buy the game where you think you will get the most out of it.

@ymo1965 I get it, but if the game quality was affected, I wouldn't buy it. In this case, the difficulty, world etc. Is part of the game's quality.

@ymo1965 It's not being an elitist that makes me enjoy these games. It's just that it's different.

@lolwhatno Yeah, but being open world makes it exhausting for some reason.

@Tasuki But the game is as long as Horizon or Fallout 4. Why doesn't your limited time apply to those? Not saying you played those. Just examples.
Unless you like resident evil and ratchet lengths, I don't see how much more time the game ask you over other open world games.

I'm still buying 99% of multiplats on ps5.
