I didn't feel Ratchet was overhyped. I think people were talking about it because it looked next gen. I don't know man. When I see Fromsoftware, Sony, Present Capcom and Rockstar I know what is about to hit will be good and I think people hype them because of the track record of these companies. Nintendo too although they don't make games for me anymore.

I honestly expect Sony (Capcom too) to be stronger this gen (it's already showing) than previous gen. They were broke starting the PS4 gen and look what they managed to do (in popular opinion POV).

@StylesT Well, to be fair, I don't think Sony games are top 1,2,3,4,5 of the best games of last gen, but I think 5 of them being in a top 20 list isn't surprising. There are many top 20 lists from neutral sites that have them there so I don't get the it's just fanboys argument. Seems like you didn't like some of your favorite games not being there instead of Sony games, and I get it, because sometimes a game I think it's better doesn't get more praise.

I haven't played Death Stranding but it looks to be the worst AAA exclusive Sony has released. It just looks so boring. Seems like it's an very empty world walking sim with Kojima's long cutscenes where he demonstrates he prefers making movies over games. That combat also looks way more brain dead than Horizon's (which it isn't) imo.

edit: I have God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-Man, Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Ghost and Tlou2 in my top 20 best games from last gen. Not one after the other, but scattered through it. I beat over 50 games (a few multiplayer) games last gen for reference (not done tho). Oh and those 50 have pretty darn high scores. I don't think I'm a fanboy because of that and you shouldn't assume that. My top 2 games of this gen are HFW and Demon Souls, but ratchet is pretty low, miles didn't wow me although it's great and Returnal impressed me (top 4 game currently). Pretty sure Elden Ring and God of War end up in my top 1-3. Starfield might be too, but I never liked Bethesda games that much.

I would like COD to skip 50 years.

Well you should honestly sell your PS5 if you're not that impressed. I don't think God of War, Spider-Man 2 will wow you. You're just wasting money at this point.

The previous Sony games had huge Hype, but for you, it always ended up being average.
And if we go by games that did something original that stand out, I guess Fortnite with its building combat is the best game ever. Maybe you're getting bored of video games.

@StylesT What's a complex platforming and combat game for you? How does HFW does not reach that or does things worst?

@LocalPenguin Well it sounded like Halo was better than Horizon because you can keep playing until the next one, which means in mp>sp in a way. You also said GT7, an always online game.

I actually like games that finish than constantly grinding for new content. I like year 7 for siege, but I know I will have to play nonstop to buy each one and yeah, I'm playing more for just one price, but in the end I wasted my time playing one game instead of having a more richer experience of variety.

Like Santa Monica and Guerrila did with Gow 2 and Hfw first and now they'll focus on their new IPs.

I agree, but they should at least announce games that are 1-almost 2 years away. I don't think that's a reach. We need to know in this rumored March playstation showcase games that are coming in 2023. It can't be just spidey 2.

Personally, last gen multiplayer weren't as good as the ps3/360 multiplayer games. They're more popular now, but the quality has dropped imo. This includes TP like EA, Activision and Ubisoft. Put Bethesda with f76 and square with avengers in there too. D. all stars and predator hunting grounds too.

@Dezzy70 They can manage two games per gen. I think it's fine dude. Insomniac and Naughty Dog have 3 titles and all of them are AAA. Guerrilla and Santa Monica have 2. Pretty sure Sucker Punch has 2 as well. These studios are big enough to handle more than one game.

@StylesT Horizon is amazing. Looks better than Demon Souls and I still don't know how. Game of the year caliber. I think it's a low 9 but last gen I only gave 9s to 9 games (no 10s) so imo it has impressed me a lot.

Hating popular things because they're popular or hating because is not as popular are not healthy ways to enjoy things Both prevent you from enjoying things. I don't like Fallout 4 and Batman Arkham City that much, but I guess people enjoyed and I can't deny they're great for the majority of people.

And a 8 is a great score. How many games have you rated 10 out of 10? Or 9s?
I don't think being an exclusive matters as they are multiple exclusives from all platforms that have bad scores.

343 wished they could be on Guerrilla's level. Guerrilla made Horizon in 5 years, Halo Infinite took 7 years. Halo doesn't look as good as ps4 games and it doesn't have as enough content as its previous entry. He wants more games like Starfield. Well we haven't seen it but I'm guessing it's the first blockbuster mainstream single player game xbox will have.

@Royalblues Halo Infinite, but that could be 343 and not xbox.

My concern is when you look at free to play, there are nowhere near as the $60 games and how those are monetize. $15 really doesn't make a difference, especially when that money goes to every game in there. There aren't sp free to play either. That's a legit concern.

@Medic_Alert Sony has me worried a bit. I know god of war is coming in 2022, spider-man 2 in 2023 (maybe) but looking at dev cycles for their owned studios (even second party like haven, deviation and firewalk), it doesn't seem they have something else coming soon. Well tlou2 factions but that's it.

Maybe that Guerrilla fps is ready?

I don't think saying a number means that much. How many are AAA? How many are VR titles?

@Royalblues if it's so easy as throwing money? Why weren't tales of arise, resident evil 8, doom eternal, dying light 2 in there day1? Will street fighter 6, suicide squad, howarts legacy, gotham knights be in there?

Halo Multiplayer is not on gamepass, but it's free and look at how it doesn't have as much content as the previous games, considering this is a next gen game and the standards and even higher now. I've seen multipla videos of gears 5 monetization being horrible too.

So nobody here can prove (yet) that services are sustainable to produce rockstar level single.player games or titanfall 2 multiplayer level games. Let people be cautious of this future. I don't like how some people here are making fun of us people when clearly GaaS multiplayer games have ruin the quality/amount of content and progression of post launch content.

@EVIL-C Yeah, but nintendo's online and controls give them an disadvantage. Crossplay is only worth it ps vs xbox. The other either have an advantage or a disadvantage so crossplay imo isn't that great.

I want to bring something up.
Monster Hunter World Iceborne and Witcher 3 dlcs are one of the best add-on content and I believe they were because you paid a premium price for them. Now some games have given content for free post launch and somebody somewhere needs to pay $100 to make up for those that didn't pay the usual $15. Looking at siege operators, I can keep up to date right now because they're releasing one operator per update but that's if I play a whole bunch before the other is released. My point being, games progression are affected and changed because something was given for "free" instead of being paid. Destiny 2 is a good example. Everyone paying $40 is better than the game suffering and beinch change to make somebody spend $300. That's my opinion on most multiplayer games today.

@EVIL-C Um. I still don't want to play vs PC players. I'm fine playing vs Xbox guys. That makes sense and it's fair game.

@PanFriedSoup I'm the same too. Bought Control, Plague Tale, Arkham Knight, NiOh even tho I got them for free on ps plus because I really wanted to at least give them something because I enjoyed (haven't played Control) them.

@Dezzy70 Well to be fair, non service games AAA are dropping in quality too, but I think if those companies were greedy already, services will make it worse.

EA besides Respawn is worthless.
Ubisoft is the king of jack all of trades master of none.
Activision was going to be COD from now on (Pre MS purchase).

I still think WB and T2 have some redeeming story base games, but I hope they don't follow the others.

Hell, even Square Enix, Babylon Fall, FF Origins and Forspoken don't look good. FF16 looks good and GoTG was a step up from Avengers. We'll see.

Bandai and Sega are fine and Capcom is establishing itself as the best of the bunch imo.

DnD was horrible
Extraction was boring to most people and I love siege
The Medium was average

Back4Blood is worse than a 2008 game (L4D) even with 2 gens of knowledge and more power.

I'm still cautious. Forza Horizon 5 makes not jump to conclusions, but Halo's content (lets be honest, when a game is free it gets better scores) and Gears 5 mtx has me worry.

We'll see. We got Redfall and Starfield to prove me wrong. Or at least it's the devs fault more than the service itself.

Don't like this at all. Hopefully it's good unlike most day 1 AAA third party games that have their share of problems.

@Kooky_Daisuke Agreed. I don't like that gt7 is 99% online, but since FIA seems to be strict with cheating, I guess they had to, but I dislike statements like "streaming is the future". I think it will be a complementary thing to existing PC/Xbox crowd (don't think it will grab that many mobile players). I would never buy a single player only game with online DRM.

EA bought codemasters and I'm expecting that studio to die like any other EA studio. Damn and I played Dirt 5 last week and I liked it. These guys are incredibly bad. Only reason Respawn hasn't been affected is because they talk back when EA wants to control them.

Are you for real? I bought Horizon for $70 on purpose because I really loved HZD and wanted to support them (people buy Collection Editions for the same reason), but saying other people should also pay $70 it's insane and it's the other way around. Sony is being anti-consumer in this one.

My first souls game was Bloodborne and now I have played them all and waiting for Elden Ring.

@Spaceman-Spiff The game will lose its appeal. People won't talk about it because it's just another RPG.

The game's exploration, world building, progression and enemies locations will severely be affected if the difficulty is changed. It's not as simple as, give me more health and make them do less damage.
