Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora Free DLC Announced For PS5, Paid On Xbox

well im not buying that game for sure.

I rarely care for cosmetics. I play in single-player only, very rarely in co-op, so I'm the only one going to see what I'm running around in, so it is of little importance to me. However, unless Sony have contributed or paid to develop this, or other parts of the game, or have paid for the marketing rights, and this is the kick-back, then this is seriously off.

As I say, I was never likely to buy the cosmetics anyway (were it to be paid for on all platforms), but I definitely will not be buying this if it is free elsewhere. This is precisely why I did not buy Marvel Avengers, and I'm sure I'm not alone in having chosen not to do so, and I would imagine that that decision hurt sales of the game on the Xbox platform.

I'll still be buying the game for the Xbox, but this could well turn out to be a dumb decision that hurts the Avatar game on the Xbox, as some will undoubtedly take umbridge at such a move...

It's just cosmetic. I'll be playing it on Xbox.

I am a bit conflicted about this game. Graphics looked stunning and Pandora is still a very cool place to explore. But this game is literally just a Far Cry game in Pandora and I have never enjoyed FC games that much.

Had no interest in this game then I saw that it’s Far Cry so I’m in now

Oh not this again with the Ubisoft/PS deals. As long as it's not story content being locked, then I don't care.

Is this the parity Sony talks about?

Glad it's not mission or quest DLC, we've had that from Sony loads with Hogwarts and Destiny 1 and I'm guessing 2.

Sony's Money hatting is becoming more apparent than ever I feel, before anyone goes mad, yes Xbox did it in the past, but this has been Sony's tactic and ethos since the PS4 days now rolling firmly into the PS5 gen. I get it's business but just a poor way of doing things, Xbox and Phil have shied away from this tactic more I think this Gen! Maybe it's time to fight fire with fire!

Sony seem to be the Money Hatters this gen! Classic Sony I feel!

They know it will sell great on PS and poorly on Xbox so they need to find other ways to make up the revenue.

@JohnHalo I'm sure it's more a contract in marketing etc and to increase sells for PS5, sad tactics for me! It's just disappointing.

@Fiendish-Beaver It does seem like Sony paid for marketing because when I see ads already about this game the first thing that pops up is the blue Sony screen at the beginning and the end. No mention about xbox or pc

I'm not bothered by Cosmetics but I don't agree with paying the same price for 'less' on certain Platforms. I'd have 'less' issue with this if it was a 'Perk' for PS+ 'Extra' Subscribers for example or Ubisoft+ Subs on Xbox.

I wasn't certain to buy at Launch anyway as Ubisoft games tend to drop in Price quickly after. I'll factor this info in when it comes to Sales - now I have a RoG Ally, I may choose to buy on PC to save more money...

I still haven't purchased Hogwarts because of the Sony deal to keep a mission exclusive. I refuse to buy on Playstation and 'encourage' this practice but refuse to buy on Xbox/PC and miss out on content. Therefore, I'll wait until its dirt cheap, even buy a 'used' copy so I am not giving my money to WB or Sony.

I'd like to play this, as well as Hogwarts for example, but I am also voting with my wallet - same as I do with ANY game costing over £50 - by refusing to pay that price and will contentedly wait for these to drop in price - even if that means waiting a year or more. As such, I doubt I'd have been buying this at launch anyway - even less reason to buy at launch now...

It starts with "just cosmetics", just trying to see what they can get away with

I hate sony for doing stuff like this, making another version feel a little bit inferior. It’s the same reason they are doing the marketing deals or the three day early access deals. It works, but I don’t like it.

Meaningless cosmetic or otherwise, I objective to premise of this.

Microsoft have made more exclusive deals, not only timed.

@Banjo- Pretty much. I don't like Sony's business practices at all, despite owning every console they've made bar the PlayStation TV. They're anti-consumer in my opinion too. However, I only have their consoles for their exclusives. I buy all multi-plats on Xbox and have done so for the last 20 years. PlayStation will never be my primary platform.

I read bout this, apparently it’s kind of a reward. They know the game will sell literally millions more on Playstation, Playstation will make them far more money so Playstation gets the dlc for free!!

Sony have money hatted far more, watched podcast on it, not listing them off now, lets leave it there. Sony have done it more and are still doing it more is my point.

Timed is fine, I've had to wait years for games to leave Sony's hands to get to my Xbox.

If you ask on PushSquare, this is nowhere near as evil as placing an embargo on Persona 3 multiplat confirmations.

Anyways, I don’t care about these cosmetics, but if I did, I still would likely rather pay extra to play on my preferred platform than get it on PS5. My PS5 is my third console, and I only play exclusives on it.

I'll be playing on UPLay+ anyway, and wouldn't that be the ultimate edition of the game as well.

I mean if I was going to say if I would rather have the marketing deal for Star Wars Outlaws (Xbox) or This game.. well I think Sony got a raw deal haha.

I'm exactly the same, @LoquaciousB. I own every console, and have owned every iteration of the Xbox and it's subsequent mid-generation refresh. I have also own every single PlayStation (meaning I had a PS1 before the Xbox even existed), but I only ever buy the new generation, not the refresh. If I buy a multi-platform game, I always buy on the Xbox. I own a high-end gaming PC too, but don't game o0n it these days, it's just too much hassle to get a game running efficiently, half the time. Even when the PlayStation has these extras, I still buy the game on the Xbox. It is my much preferred platform...

But wait, according to so many online users, the only reason we're on Xbox is because that's all our welfare permits us, so we shouldn't be expected to pay!

I'm just kidding, but it is a pretty weird situation. I'm not really interested in this game anyway as I wasn't a fan of the original movie and Ubisoft can be hit-or-miss for me, so I'd rather play SW: Outlaws or AC: Mirage as far as future releases go.

I also never rock these cosmetics either (for example, I recently played through Ghost of Tsushima, and I decided to rock the broken armor set in the beginning because I thought the "Hero of Tsushima" is really immersion-breaking, as I'm not a hero yet, so I like to start of looking properly pauper, and slowly transitioning into a mythical character of sorts).

I always find something like this a strange tactic.
Exactly what percentage of people buying this game have both consoles?
It is not exactly a system seller either so if Sony fronted the cash for skins, why?
This isn't COD, or NBA/FIFA where folks by brands to play with friends
I'm going to just play it on whatever system DF says it runs best on, which can be a weird disparity at times
