I’d absolutely go all digital if it weren’t for F.E.A.R. 1, The Orange Box, and the old Forza Horizon/Motorsport games being disc only. None of the game boxes from any Xbox gen look good on my shelf, especially Xbox One…

In theory, more competition would be great, but they're going to run into the exact same situations with component prices, logistics, R&D, etc. Assuming they can grab a meaningful chunk of the market to begin with...

Low-end prebuilts start at $1200-1300 these days. With enough cutbacks and/or proprietary parts they might be able to shave it down to the $800s or $900s.

@themightyant That’s a good point. Proprietary memory doesn’t quite go with the PC style NextBox might have. Maybe they’ll sell adapters!

The Crew Motorfest does seem to be significantly less cringe than Forza Horizon 5

I noticed this hasn’t been on sale in forever. I got it a few years back and it was the first Xbox game I ever beat

This would be fine if Series S were still $299.99, but not now that it costs as much as a PS5

So what Xbox really needs is a vertical video/social media platform to compete with their actual biggest competitor?

@Fiendish-Beaver Why should they be in line with any other reviewers? Reviews are just opinions. Metacritic is just an aggregator of opinions; I fail to see how it’s so critically important that a professional site would want to try to manipulate the review score.

If the PS is purposefully rating these games lower and PX is purposefully rating them higher, then it cancels out.

@Fiendish-Beaver They seem to rate most things lower than aggregates. But they’re allowed to. Should they be consulting Metacritic/Opencritic and adjusting their scores to better fit with those sites before posting?

@PsBoxSwitchOwner I’ve read the PS5 version suffers from more performance issues. Probably because this was originally supposed to be exclusive and the PS5 port was announced years later

VGC rated this the lowest yet no one has complained about them 🤣

@Questionable_Duck Probably easier to justify considering how large and profitable the PS5 install-base is. Less so with Xbox, unfortunately, and that’s what I think people are upset about.

ASUS’ mobile/laptop parts are notoriously unreliable. A buddy of mine runs a repair shop and gets ASUS laptops and ROG Allies in almost daily. I’m not in the market because I don’t like handhelds and hate PC/Windows, but if I were I’d wait several months to make sure that mosfets and/or VRMs aren’t randomly blowing. Not to mention the melting SD card issue from the original Ally…

Did ASUS ever fix the hardware issues that kept melting SD cards on the previous Ally?

Rumors aren’t just an “other side” issue. That perspective is ironically maladaptive considering that person was posting about mental health. Decrying every issue or bad situation as fake news isn’t healthy either, and there’s plenty of that on this site as well.

The best thing to do is tune out the doomer Ponies, paranoid Xbots, and OCD Nintendrones and just play games.

I like beating games on multiple platforms, like F.E.A.R. 1 & 2 on Series X and PS3, Inside and Limbo on Switch and PS4, and Control on PS4 and PS5

I remember being excited about this after I got my first ever Xbox (the Series X). I thought it was going to be like Journey or Abzû

Even the Reddit posts said they were from “alleged staff,” which made me chuckle. Crazy how these things can blow up, but also kind of damning how they can seem plausible.
