I hope the next Xbox is able to play all these old games. Sure they put some good ones in the backwards compatibility program but so many great games aren't there for different reasons. If it's just the same old games I can already play on my Series S than I won't get it for a long time.

It's crazy that the gaming community is nearly all in agreement that they would love a Simpsons hit and run remake sequel whatever even the original version on backwards compatibility like this article says and the chances of any of this happening is slim to none!
Surely something could be sorted as it would print money but it's just left to rot!

I would say The Simpsons Game, Chronicles Of Riddick, Stranglehold, WET, Lollipop Chainsaw, Alpha Protocol, Splatterhouse, The Godfather 1 & 2

Surprised that Silent Hill 4 is so high on the list, as you can at least get the PC version for like $10 on GOG. But it's a shame that many of those other ones are still stranded in the past.

I assume the music licensing is prohibitively expensive or complicated in the case of JSRF and especially Burnout 3, but what about Silent Hill 2 and Sonic Heroes? Those ones even have PC ports already!

Where is DoAX2? It should be top on that list.

I’d be very curious to see what a hypothetical Silent Hill 2 addition to the BC program would look like. It’s a lousy port on original hardware (DF has used it as a whipping boy a few times) but that’s on original hardware. Up the resolution, up the framerate consistency and it might prove to be a complete reversal of fortunes. I don’t know whether they could fix the crap implementation of fog and weather effects though. I mean they obviously could, but that might fall outside the scope of their efforts.

Considering the breadth of games to be found on the 360 that's a predictably dull list.

I would love to see PGR 3&4 on backwards or even revived and modernised.

I would absolutely love to see both of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer games added, those were two of my favorite games to play on the Original Xbox.

All of these licensed games that are never going to be re-published... Xbox doesn't own Mechassault, but maybe they could have pulled some moves there to get the games into the program. PGR and Amped as well. Ubisoft has been quite active in the program so why aren't all of their games compatible? At the very least get the Tom Clancy ones. And Rayman, Prince of Persia, Brothers in Arms, all of their own franchises. The licensing explanation doesn't really hold water if so many game companies are still around and can easily offer their games to be made compatible.

Blur is one of those games that should have went the Burnout Paradise route and had cars that resembled real life cars but didn't require licensing.

None of these are on my list. Give me Project Gotham Racing 2, Rallisport Challenge 2, Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast, the two Brothers in Arms games, etc.

@Balaam_ I don't believe Silent Hill 2 on the Xbox was viewed as problematic. Aren't you thinking of the ill fated Silent Hill HD Collection on the Xbox 360 (that never got any of the fixes that the PS3 release received)?

Not a big fan of Simpsons Hit and Run but seeing the spiritual sequels to the X-Men and Turtles arcade beat em ups recently I sure would love to see a new Simpsons one. That game ruled.

@fizban3332 I've still got my Cudcept Saga disc, that was a pretty neat game. I understand it's a series but never played any of the others.

As much as Backwards Compatibility is my favorite Xbox feature, people just need to admit it's done and over with. The only way these games are coming to modern consoles are Remasters or Remakes. And aside from Silent Hill 2 obviously, the only ones I see even potentially getting ones are the Spider-Man games, as now that Microsoft owns Activision, they can easily pay any licensing fees to get these games greenlit and keep them on the market. Same thing for any other Marvel games or the Transformers ones, which Hasbro themselves showed interest in getting back out there.

@Atariboy PGR 2 and Rallisport Challenge 2 are two of my favorite racers of all time. Those three Spider-Man games are all excellent as well. I'd love to be able to play them again on my xbox.

I would have added NBA Street Vol 2, NFL Blitz, SSX Tricky, Sega Rally, Crazy Taxi 3, Street Fighter X Tekken, Chronicles of Riddick: Assult on Dark Athena, Def Jam Fight for NY, WWF Raw VS Smackdown 2007, Soul Caliber 2 and MK Shaolin Monks. Just to name a few 🤙

They should at the minimum add the games from ABK they now have the licenses for such as the original COD (and other versions not on the service), Gun and Singularity (which they released on PC)

I'm surprised Silent Hill 2 is so high up on this list, considering you can already play the HD collection on Xbox (albeit a botched version of the original), as well as the Bloober Team remake. Like, there's not much of a point to have three different versions of Silent Hill 2 on the same platform

All I ever wanted was Singularity but that seems to be a lost cause at this point.

@Tasuki Yes, which is why I said 'pay any licensing fees'. Activision owns the games, they pay Disney/Marvel the rights to use them again. As for Sony, even if they have a say, I doubt they'd be against a Multi-Platform Spider-Man considering things like the Marvel vs Capcom Collection & Marvel MaXimum Collection were allowed which are virtually the same situation.

Honest to god if they brought it back and put of nowhere shadow dropped 100 games on backwards compatibility it would be such an awesome thing

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is an absolutely horrible game and should be ashamed of itself for existing. I couldn’t even finish it. I do not understand how ANYONE can even remotely enjoy that pile of garbage. I was recording my gameplay for my YouTube channel and deleted the videos as well. I had 2 mint CIB copies of that game. I destroyed both of them. I just couldn’t in good conscience bring myself to even sell them to somebody. I could not potentially allow someone to experience such misery. I know it’s a rare game and I know what it’s worth, but it was worth losing the money to know that someone else will not suffer. I paid full price for both of them as well.

Seeing how all of these companies love money more than anything else, you would think they would all work together to resolve any licensing issues and bring all games to any and every platform possible.

@ZYDIO As a Spiderman fan that's played almost all the games, I agree, man. I played Web of Shadows for the first time way back in 2016, which was much later after it came out, so my expectations were freaking high according to all the praise people lied about with it. When I finally got to playing it, to say that I was underwhelmed would be an understatement!

Also, it's funny that it's considered "rare", since all I had to do was go to my local gamestop to find a used copy, haha.

Whacked! It was playable on the 360 but I don't think it is on Series or the One generation of consoles. My kids loved the game and still play it on the 360.

@nomither6 I also had and sold all of the other Spider-Man games that are available on all of the Xbox consoles. I was that pissed.

@ZYDIO How dare you! 😆. I love that game. The black suit abilities are so much fun. It's just a great time playing as the web slinger. It's not a 10/10 game, but it's a good old fashioned Spidey game that's just plain fun in my opinion.

Dark Messiah Might and Magic Elements would be my choice. It’s such a fun, stupid time and I absolutely love it.

Personally I would like to see some of the delisted Xbox arcade games be made either available for purchase or available with game pass. I would like to see the Arcade versions of Sonic 1-3, Simpsons arcade and other delisted arcade games.

@XxEvilAshxX I have no idea how many (or how few!) people played the Goldeneye port, but I'm sure the 30fps cap* and wobbly rendering** didn't help matters. Even with the 360 remake/remaster being off the table, it would have been nice to see Rare Replay receive a definitive version of the 1997 classic. I would've even purchased the digital edition of RR on sale, despite owning the physical one already!

I could never understand how games like Crazy Taxi 3 High Roller, Outrun 2006 coast to coast, all the Simpsons games, sonic heroes, Sega Rally Revo and Jet Set Radio never made it through! Very strange and disappointing! Would’ve loved to see the 2 Buffy games as well.

I wish they would bring The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age to backwards compatibility.
