These Are Supposedly The 10 Most-Wanted Backwards Compatibility Games On Xbox

It's been many years now since Xbox's backwards compatibility program officially closed down in terms of new additions, but that hasn't stopped people requesting a whole bunch of titles should it ever start up again in the future.

We've come across a new resource recently called Xbox Game Preservation that aims to highlight these titles, and they've got a leaderboard that ranks the most-wanted backwards compatibility games based on user votes.

There have been over 5,000 total votes cast to date, which only results in the top game having 100-ish votes, so it's worth taking the top 10 with a pinch of salt. Nevertheless, it's interesting to see which games are supposedly in demand.

So, here are the top 10 most-wanted backwards compatibility games on Xbox according to the leaderboard:

  1. The Simpsons: Hit & Run
  2. Silent Hill 4: The Room
  3. Burnout 3: Takedown
  4. Silent Hill 2
  5. Jet Set Radio Future
  6. Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
  7. Sonic Heroes
  8. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
  9. Spider-Man 2
  10. Blur

There are some notable absentees here, such as The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers (#11), Transformers: War for Cybertron (#12), Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2005 (17) and James Bond 007: Nightfire (#28). but we still think this is a pretty good list, and it'd be great to see any of them adding back compat support in 2026.

With that in mind, we'd love to hear from you in the comments below about which Xbox backwards compatibility games you'd love to see added in the future. We're crossing our fingers the program might finally restart again at some point!
