ROG Xbox Ally X Gets Its First Price Increase, Limited To One Region For Now

Right at the turn of the year, ASUS sparked fear of potential ROG Xbox Ally price increases due to the ongoing RAM crisis, and it now looks like that's starting to play out over in Japan.

As spotted by Automaton Media, the more expensive ROG Xbox Ally X model has suddenly shot up in price in the Asian nation. On launch, the ROG Xbox Ally X cost 139,800 yen in Japan - and it's now available for 169,800 yen on the official Asus Japan website. That's roughly a $200 price bump when converted to US currency, although the base model is still available at the same price as it was at launch.

Thankfully, for now at least, this price hike hasn't happened in the US - or the UK for that matter, where we've checked that the price is still the same as it was at launch. This Japanese price increase could also be some sort of temporary bump, but for now, the Ally X remains listed for the new price of 169, 800 yen over on the product's official page.

We'll keep an eye on this one and look out for any other potential price hikes that could occur for the ROG Xbox Ally. Japan is the only region we're seeing this in for now, but with continued price increases to current-gen hardware and challenging market conditions mentioned by the likes of Asus itself (and other manufacturers), who knows where this all might go next.
