@Ricky-Spanish What do you mean? Sony owns the Helldivers IP and published both games. It's good to see a dev succeed to the point where they can do their own thing, regardless!
Hard to say. I probably have a different use-case than most here, as Xbox is mostly a backwards-compatibility machine with a small sprinkling of exclusives that I sometimes feel strangely obligated to get. I was lucky to get my current console for $80 after trade credit from GameStop, but its trade-in value is now more than I paid altogether so it's tempting to ditch it (for about the 6th time).
Series S would be perfect for my purpose except for its lack of disc drive.
@Ricky-Spanish It gets tricky because Microsoft Gaming is a division of Microsoft Corporation and Sony Interactive Entertainment is a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation. Even then, net worth/valuation discussion isn't very valuable for gamers!
@Cakefish Low-end pre-built PCs from system integrators with 2-3 generations-old hardware are $900+ already. Not sure how Xbox would be able to undercut that.
@Cakefish Completely agreed. My assumption was games that weren't Series X|S Optimized would be mostly the same since S has practically the same CPU, but X showed me that wasn't the case. Noticeable downgrades across the board. I still like the idea behind Series S, but the marketing did feel deceptive in the end.
@RiverGenie FPS Boost is some kind of software and/or game engine trickery. It does achieve the same thing in the end, but I've noticed lots of little glitches and other issues it can cause (example, F.E.A.R. 3's huge fluctuations). Native 60FPS is always preferable, IMO.
I'm a Pony with zero interest in Game Pass, but Xbox still has a use-case: enhanced 7th and 8th gen games! Series X is my 4K retro and FPS Boost machine because I'm fairly certain those PlayStation versions will never get patched.
As far as everyone going multi-platform, I don't see it. I know the diehards are trying to spin it as innovation, but Xbox was in a hard place and needed to do something to quickly bring in money. The other two aren't in that situation and are just fine with their own ecosystems. Putting in time and money to market to a much smaller userbase (who also brags about never paying for games) likely isn't worth it.
I'd love to get Del Tacos at Pizza Hut, but that just isn't realistic.
@NishimuraX Especially when Nightdive exclusively does remasters! People are always harping about game preservation and then harp even more when remasters help make old games available.
I'd like to see some things that aren't currently backwards compatible like Project Silpheed, Ninety Nine Nights, Condemned 2, or the first Kane and Lynch
It would have to feature re-recorded dialogue and new voice actors for me to consider it. Already have the original version which plays very nicely on Xbox Series.
People were fine paying Switch tax on PC games (especially visual novels) and full AAA prices for extremely cut-down mobile versions of games, so I don't think this is going to be an issue.
Probably not tomorrow, but announcements will follow. Depends on whether Switch 2 can actually run these games or not. Regardless of how powerful the SOC might be, it'll still be constrained by handheld functionality.
@BacklogBrad They're making record profits from their current model, I don't foresee any big push to change that. Plus, the time and money to port these big games to a 237% smaller audience who boast about never paying for games likely won't help much.
This is the game that put the nail in the coffin of me ever trusting game reviewers. Got it for $13 from GameStop and loved every second!
As far as being ported, the studio was dissolved by Square Enix so I'm not sure who would work on it. Maybe if Xbox were to pay them in advance like they did for Octopath Traveler, but it probably wouldn't be worth it.

@darylb24 Companies used to get advanced/lump sums to add their games to The Pass, right? Are they still doing that or does everyone get royalties?

GamePass would kind of be a step backwards if they're chasing sales, no?
