@Millionski If you're into JRPGs and fighting games like I am, PlayStation is the unofficial home of both. It's not even about exclusives, I see those as nice bonuses; the overall selection is just much better-suited to my tastes. 🙂
Xbox is my fill-in-the-blank console. Functional versions of F.E.A.R. 1, The Orange Box, Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Oblivion... boosted versions of Dishonored, Death of the Outsider, Dishonored 2, and Prey. Far Cry games that performed poorly on PS3 or don't quite play nice with PS5. Dead Island Definitive and Riptide where 60FPS is a godsend and quick-time events actually work. The console definitely has a use case for me, but it will always be a sidekick.
@Hurblyburbly It's a conspiracy theory-esque coping mechanism whereby any and all criticism of Xbox games is invalid due to inherent negative bias of reviewers and the media.
Maybe someday all restaurants will serve the same food, while all clothing brands sell exactly the same clothes. Because why should the brick box we walk into matter?
As long as they don't ditch backwards compatibility and FPS Boost, Xbox hardware will have a use-case for me. Consolidating systems is tempting, but playing all 7th-gen games on PS3 isn't as great as my subconscious tries to tell me.
Cutting off Series S parity would be actually killing their brand. Development quibbles aside, it's an interesting strategy that has seemingly worked for Xbox.
@sd7232 Yep, bought it direct from Microsoft on New Year's Eve and estimated delivery is February 11th. There are plenty on eBay if you don't care about being gouged...
I have the special edition galaxy black Series X on the way with 2TB internal. Picked up a used 1TB expansion card from GameStop a few months back, and use a 2TB external SSD for backwards-compatible games.
Far Cry Classic, Far Cry Instincts: Predator, Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Quantum Break, Initial2, Max Payne 3, Psychonauts, Sunset Overdrive, Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Tell Me Why
Forza Horizon. I love the idea of that kind of relaxing adventure game, and the spectacular intro movies. But then the gameplay starts and it's very "How do you do, fellow kids?"
PS5 for most third-party stuff, PS5 Pro enhancements when that comes out, and if a game utilizes DualSense features.
Series X for exclusives, FPS Boost, and backwards-compatibility (being able to avoid the slow and glitchy PS3 versions of Fallout 3/New Vegas, Orange Box, and F.E.A.R. make the console worth it by itself)
Switch for exclusives, pixel games, visual novels, and the rare case where Switch has a definitive version of a game (Bastion, Deadly Premonition, Trails to Zero/from Azure)
PS3 for exclusives, 7th Gen games not available on Series X, PS2 and PS1.
It's hilarious to think that the dastardly Sony used their unfair power and influence to... plant a reviewer on an Xbox fansite to mildly irritate the readers.
Anyway, I'm still undecided on the main game because as much as I love space and RPGs, I have no experience with Bethesda games. You can find brand new copies on eBay for $20. Might take a punt.

@JDCII It's a great sidekick system for people who main something else. It looked quite nice sitting next to my PS5 in my TV stand.

Re: Talking Point: What's Your Favourite Memory Of The Xbox Series X|S Generation So Far?
Playing the original F.E.A.R. at >=1080p 60fps after having recently beaten the PS3 version
Re: Soapbox: Four Years On, I'm Already Nostalgic For The Early Xbox Series X|S Era
Series X is a nice F.E.A.R, Half Life 2, FPS Boost, and backwards-compatible machine.
Re: Talking Point: Which Of Late 2024's Biggest Xbox Releases Are You Most Excited For?
Flight Sim 2024 sounds very interesting, like there's much more to do than the other games.

Forza Horizon. I love the idea of that kind of relaxing adventure game, and the spectacular intro movies. But then the gameplay starts and it's very "How do you do, fellow kids?"

Exclusive IP drives console sales. If everything was available everywhere, what makes one console necessary over another?
Re: Talking Point: Xbox & Nintendo Switch Owners, How Do You Split Your Third-Party Purchases?
Re: 2011's 'FEAR 3' Becomes A Top-Seller On Xbox Following Major Price Cut
@xxk7xx It does run at locked 30fps without FPS Boost, but I haven't tried turning off auto HDR.
Re: 2011's 'FEAR 3' Becomes A Top-Seller On Xbox Following Major Price Cut
@xxk7xx I noticed that, too. Turning VRR off helped a bit, but there's still random slowdown...
F.E.A.R. 1 & 2 were completely smooth the whole way through, not sure what's going on in 3.
