Yep. Dying Light 1 is still the best. After about 25 hours of the beast, I quit before the end. I remember being blown away by the movement in DL1. The beast feels very dated.
A friend talked me into playing Arc Raiders. I haven't liked online gaming in about 15 years. After playing for about 6 hours, I just don't get it. Go out, collect loot to sell or upgrade or manufacture weapons, take said weapons on next outing, get killed in PvP by way higher level squads, lose everything. Start over again. Welp, it's back to single player games for me. Good thing it was only $40.
I agree, the story and art direction are absolutely fantastic. The thing that would hold it back from GOTY nominations would be the repetitive and uninspired combat.
The greatest thing for me about the Xbox 360 generation was action games incorporating RPG elements and vice versa. For me, it started with Bioshock allowing you to freeze in the middle of a firefight and choose a different weapon, and that same year it was followed up with the first Assassin's Creed and then Mass Effect. All three of those games changed the way we play. And then of course, the following year we got Fallout 3.
I am absolutely fine with almost shadow dropping games. Give us a release date once it's complete and just going through the final polish at 3 to 5 months out. Yes, it's great that Rockstar delayed the game rather than release something less than complete, but they shouldn't have given us these release dates that they were forced to retract.
About 15 hours in. Not as good as Avowed. There are some irritating things about it that didn't exist in Avowed. Hitting knee level water is insta drown death? Hmmm....
@Titntin Teams is pre installed? Oh hell no! That really goes to show that this is definitely NOT an Xbox. Teams is one of the worst pieces of software ever created by MS.
When it's a game I like, I replay at least once if not twice. Recently, I replayed Star Wars Outlaws three times, and Dragon Age Veilguard three times. Fallout 4, 3, New Vegas, and Skyrim I have replayed four or five times each. And I have lost count of how many times I've replayed The Last of Us and The Last of Us part 2. I really feel like the second playthrough of any fun game is the best playthrough. When you are very familiar with the controls and kind of have environments and enemy tactics down.
@RiverGenie I am playing on a Series X and I have zero issues seeing at night. It's not that dark. Admittedly, I play on an LG OLED, so that could be making a difference, but I haven't even had to turn the game or TV brightness up.
I finished the original Dying Light three times. What a great game! Dying Light 2 was a huge disappointment for me. I could not believe they removed the guns. Also, I don't like being forced to play at night with the volatiles. The Beast looks to at least correct the omission of guns. As long as the reviews are mostly 8's, I will buy this on Thursday. Supposedly the review embargo lifts tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.EST
Not only is this my favorite Dragon Age game, but it's also my favorite RPG and favorite combat of all time. I really don't understand why people bash this game. I absolutely love it. I finished it three times
This is what keeps me buying games on my series X instead of my PS5. Rechargeable batteries are far less expensive than buying a second PS5 controller.
I really tried to like it during my 99 hour playthrough. A few quests were great. The gunplay is pretty great. But let's be honest. It's a fast travel simulator, the companions are very boring (not to mention goody Two-Shoes), the upgrading is generic and not very inspired and all but a few well designed maps are lifeless. All of it's major cities should have been on a single planet and they are so small. Am I really supposed to believe that all of humanity moved off of Earth and this is all that's left? What makes a Bethesda RPG special is that ability to set off from the start point and roam and run into unexpected quests and characters. You can't do that in Starfield.
@Soup-Rules I had a game breaking bug at about 10 hours in Oblivion remastered. My only option was to start over from the beginning. I said forget it and uninstalled. A friend of mine also encountered a game breaking bug. It's all over Reddit.
I've been wondering if they were going to go this route for a while now. And when the rumor announced that they had dropped plans for a separate Xbox handheld, I really started thinking this may be true. I think it's a great idea if they can come in at the right price point.
This thing is already causing so much confusion. It will not be able to play Xbox games. You will not be able to play Xbox game pass games. You will only be able to play PC games. So, you will have to subscribe to PC game pass. And everyone seems to think this is exactly the same as the existing handhelds. The the x version of the new handheld has a brand new chip in it that was just announced at CES earlier this year.
This has me really curious. Could Microsoft have an evil plan? What if they're planning to put all of their games on PlayStation for this generation and next generation to get PlayStation gamers into the games, and then right when they are no longer legally obligated to put Call of Duty on PlayStation, they yank every single Microsoft game from PlayStation and once again make them Xbox exclusives?
I can understand why the new Mafia game is linear. I mean, the original Mafia was a linear game set in an empty open world. Not to mention the reduced development time. When you're giving me a setting like Sicily though, I would really prefer an open world with rewarding exploration and linear missions.
I don't know if it's modern, high end OLED TV's or just that I'm older now, but 30fps looks like a choppy slideshow to me and actually makes me sick if it's a fast moving game
30fps with crazy environment pop in. I remember GTA 5 on 360 and flying through the streets in one of the fastest cars. The game just could not keep up, and could only seem to load one block ahead. I expect it will be difficult to achieve 60fps on PC when it finally launches.
I was having a pretty good time with it until about the 4 and 1/2 hour mark. Trying to escape with the book from the altar of dagon, I encountered a game-breaking bug. The game thinks the door is closed when it is actually open. I cannot progress. All four autosaves as well as my quicksave have the bug. My only other manual save was at the 1-hour mark. Oh well. Uninstall and wait to see what patches are released.
@Tasuki well, I hate to break it to you but inventory limit seems to be the same. It kills me. I was over encumbered before I reached the end of the first dungeon/tutorial, lol. Avowed was such a breath of fresh air with it's inventory system.
I would absolutely love a remaster of Fallout 3. The only big change I would like to see is some quality of life type waypoint information so you don't have to spend years down in those damn subway tunnels trying to get from place to place.

@You-come-to-me what are you talking about? This steam box has more RAM and vram.
Re: Valve Announces New Hardware, Including A Steam Machine That'll Compete With Xbox
As long as current games run at 60fps when it launches, I will definitely buy one of these.
Re: Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition Isn't Getting The Best Reception From Fans Right Now
Shame on you, Bethesda.
Re: Fallout 4: Anniversary Upgrade Launches For $40, 'Creations Bundle' Also Available For $20

@Friendly The full Polygon review article does compare it. This is one of the things it says:
"The $450 Nintendo Switch 2, with its silky matte finish, steel elements, slender profile, and elegant design, feels much more like a premium device."

@AndroidBango so yes, people are, in fact pissed, and the dev doesn't care. I refuse to buy day 1 DLC.
