We've got a release date for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2! It's been announced today that the long-awaited sequel will be coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on October 21st, 2025.
The date was announced as part of Gamescom Opening Night Live, and was accompanied with a new trailer which you can watch up above. Pre-orders aren't available yet at the time of writing, but it should appear on the Xbox Store soon.
For those who aren't aware, Bloodlines 2's development has really suffered over the years, but these days it's being handled by The Chinese Room - known in recent times for the excellent Still Wakes the Deep.
Here's a bit more information about the game:
You are the Nomad — an elder vampire awakening from a century-long slumber, new to the modern nights. Trapped in your Blood is a stranger’s voice. This entity, a vampire detective known as Fabien, will be your guide to 21st-century Seattle. You will explore the city through his eyes as well as those of the Nomad, as you revisit a cold case from a hundred years ago that is threatening undead and mortal society alike.
Hunt your way through a modern-night Seattle on the brink of an open supernatural war in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, where visceral vampire action meets a neo-noir murder mystery. Navigate the vampire Court of Seattle and its dark underbelly in this action RPG, realized by the BAFTA award-winning studio The Chinese Room.

I've never played this series but the trailer is definitely turning my head. Has anyone here played these and can liken them to anything?
The fact you have to pay to get access to two of the game's factions kills any goodwill I might have had towards this.

@AndroidBango WTF......after all the years of waiting and development hell just to hamstring the release like this. Just looked up the article and that pricing kills it completely. GG devs. GG
@Simu001 to be fair, this one is on the publisher - but agreed, what a stupid decision to paywall a third of the game.
@Kaloudz
The first game was an immersive sim RPG with branching story and exploration. The closest games being the Deus Ex series, Prey, Thief and Dishonored. It's really, really good, but PC only.
The first game was excellent. You had all the classes too. I hate how they sell games in bits and pieces these days.
@AndroidBango WOW! Hopefully there is such a tremendous amount of backlash over this that the developer reverses this stupid plan.
@CaptainCluck Thanks dude. I guess I can get behind it if you liken it to the likes of Dishonoured. That alone makes it a worthwhile consideration. That, and I have a fondness for vampire related stuff
Another Xbox reveal title that I will support, surprised it took so long
@Blastfemur paradox doesn't care about backlash their still selling an expansion pass for a game that got abandoned by the dev and expansions are never coming for. they are kings of selling dlc too
@AndroidBango so yes, people are, in fact pissed, and the dev doesn't care. I refuse to buy day 1 DLC.
