It's been pretty quiet for Bethesda's Starfield in 2025, but it sounds like 2026 will be a different story for the epic Bethesda RPG, with multiple new releases in the works along with new content that could make a significant impact.
The folks over at Windows Central are reporting that, according to their sources, Starfield will receive both a PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 release in 2026, while an expansion for the game is also expected to arrive sometime next year.
It's been suggested that Bethesda recently held a "behind closed doors" event showcasing some new content for Starfield, and sources are divided on whether it could represent a "Cyberpunk 2.0" moment for the game (referencing Cyberpunk 2077's massive overhaul compared to launch) or something that's not quite on that scale.

Windows Central mentions that "space travel and exploration" seems likely to be improved, which was hinted at in an interplanetary travel discovery a few months ago, while loading screens in general look set to be reduced.
Some of this is also referenced by YouTuber Luke Stephens who claims to have discussed the recent event with a few people who were present, although he says "you should not expect them to have magically changed what the game is".
None of this is obviously official yet, so we'll have to wait and see how it all pans out in 2026. Assuming Starfield does get a PS5 and/or Switch 2 release in 2026 though, it's bound to coincide with a decent update for the game.
