I agree about the lack of first party system sellers but we do have to remember the pandemic has caused some major delays, both in game development and system availability. Microsoft are playing catch up with 1st party games and are definitely out of kilter. In an ideal world their studio acquisitions would have had a nicely spread out slate of releases but it’s a fairly blank canvas for a while. Hopefully they’ll start bringing the games later in the year and from then onwards it will be smoother sailing.

@Halucigens thanks for the info. I’m the same as regards graphics/design etc so keen to find out what a ‘normal’ person sees when they upgrade. I do like shiny things though so I’ll keep looking 😆

@Halucigens I’m jealous. I think! Does it make a big difference? I keep considering upgrading the tv but they still seem quite pricey

It does make me wonder how many people can actually benefit from the 120fps upgrades currently.

@Richnj totally agree, it would be huge if it did come out this holiday and as an exclusive. Having said that I know pretty much nothing about it but am still really looking forward to it 😆

@somnambulance yeah there’s plenty of examples of games that should not have been released in the state their were. Fingers crossed on this one ☝️

‘Trying their hardest to get the game ready...’ does not mean it’s overly buggy or they’re doing crunch necessarily. It could just mean they’re throwing extra resource in for the testing phase and trying to shorten that time period to beat the Xmas deadline.

@Handy_Man neither have I! Generally played Nintendo until the last year, so lots of catching up to do on the likes of GTA etc.

I’ll back up all the comments about Octopath Traveller. Really enjoyed the game on Switch and also had no idea it was coming to Xbox.

I started Yakuza 0 recently and really enjoying it so I’d be intrigued to see spin offs get localised.

It made me go back and look at the fridge reveal!! Looks like a white series X in the fridge on the long shots 👀

@vyseofhr I’m finding it very hit and miss too. It’s a great feature but needs to be far more consistent.

@StonyKL I’d say the same about a 3/10, seems like a very provocative score. Guess I’ll find out what I think is fair when I play it. Loved Layers of Fear so hopeful I’ll enjoy it

It always irks me that the elite are given free gear. It would have been so much better had these been given to local children’s charities instead of wealthy stars that can easily afford their own.

Curious if you considered different scores for Series S/X against One S/X? Sounds like a huge difference in how they play

I think the fact all reviews have been the pc build are telling. Maybe the day one patch will make the console versions more playable than they currently are. The really slow driving on the One X footage was especially telling of the state the game appears to be in currently. Could still be a great game though, it just seems like there are lots of issues still, despite the delays.

The box looks great. Unfortunately still working so it’s downstairs all boxed up calling to me!!

@gollumb82 and @Kefka2589 - not heard confirmation yet here in the UK, keeping my fingers crossed that all is ok! At least I’ll be able to watch a live stream of others enjoying the console if the retailer lets me down 😆

@Thretosix if you’re thinking of the same bit in the Digital Foundry article as me I think they were referring to the hardware itself. They go on to say they still can’t talk about the UI from memory

A little disappointing

So are retailers genuinely not aware of how many consoles they will be allocated before the pre-sale date?

@MaccaMUFC I don’t know on AC Valhalla but Devil May Cry 5 has said 4K 60fps with ray tracing off, I think 4K30 with it on or 1080p60 with it on. Or something else with 120fps! Clear?! Definitely has different performance modes(!), though as we know less about what PS5 can do who knows what each console will have.

@BlueOcean thanks, I’ve seen some of those numbers before but it’s good to see them again as I’d forgotten some of the changes. I guess I’m impatient to see some of those upgrades in action and what a true ‘next gen’ game looks like.

Depends on time but probably some Forza Horizons 4 and Devil May Cry 5 Special as that looked quite tasty on the footage shown. Still don’t really know enough about launch lineup and what the upgrades to games like FH4 actually are though.

Amazon UK wasn’t playing for me while I sat and waited for Currys (have a gift card to use and was only 9000 in the queue!). Just before Currys queue finished Amazon started playing! Availability seems better than I expected. S was still available at Amazon last time I looked too.

Touryst is a great game, thoroughly enjoyed playing through it.

@Bmartin001 I have it on Switch, it’s a great little game, highly recommend it.
