It's a bit of a shame that Microsoft is deactivating these accounts, but also somewhat understandable — however Microsoft should refund these people their $20.
There's some great deals, but I'm a little disappointed because most of them are titles that regularly go on sale throughout the year at the same prices.
Is the text still ridiculously small in this game? We're gaming on a 32" TV so the game has been somewhat unplayable, at least when we tried it at launch.
I bought an Xbox Seeies S when it was released in 2020. Being able to buy it in store at a reasonable price (MSRP) was absolutely a factor in that decision, and I don't regret the purchase at all.
Microsoft should include various emulators in the Xbox development environment to make it easier for developers to bring their older games to Xbox consoles, then.
As a newcomer to the Xbox ecosystem I couldn't reasonably vote for anything other than the Xbox Series X|S... but there are a lot of Xbox 360 games I'm interested in (some of which are not available through the backwards-compatability program).
@MaccaMUFC : If you enjoy the game to begin with, and the achievement isn't insane (which a lot of them aren't), I can understand going that extra mile for it.
Personally I'm not too keen on this "achievement hunters" thing. I like to play games because I enjoy them, and there's better things I could be doing with my time (both in and outside of video games) than chasing down digital awards and points (for lotteries I probably won't win) from "achievements". That's me though, and I can appreciate that others like to spend their time differently.
Microsoft (and maybe Pure Xbox) should use tables. Who doesn't like tables? I like tables. Features on the left, platforms and editions (including Game Pass only) on the top, and check marks in the body of the table to indicate which platform or edition gets what. It's as simple as that.
For those wondering: The absolute limit of the human eye is estimated to be around 32K and 1000 FPS, but not at the same time, ie: A healthy human eye with no visual issues whatsoever can see up to 32K when examining still images, and can detect simple changes (but no real detail) at 1000 FPS. 32K might be completely unecessary even at 480 FPS, as some experiments suggest detailed information is difficult to perceive above just 300 FPS or so.
With xCloud already available for a wide variety of platforms — it's available for PC, iOS, and Android as a dedicated app, and hopefully it will make its way over to Linux, Retroarch, Roku, etc. soon — Xbox games are a lot easier to access than Sony and Nintendo games are, so I personally think these "gatekeeping" claims about Xbox are exaggerated.
I'm not a fan of adding games to the Gold program that are permanently available through Game Pass. Gold games have been more of a miss than a hit in my last year of being on Xbox though, so I'm not going to get my hopes up.
That's probably for the better. Decent VR setups require costly products from a variety of manufacturers, and Microsoft is still working to broaden the appeal of Xbox to the masses — masses that are generally too poor to afford a VR setup in the first place.
Unfortunately because it lacks split-screen multiplayer I'm inclined to pass over this (otherwise great-looking) game. Note that I didn't cast a vote in the poll though. And it's a real shame I can't buy Left 4 Dead or Left 4 Dead 2 for the Xbox Series S either, despite both games being backwards-compatable.
1. PETA should be putting their money and time into things that will actually make a difference, eg: in vitro meat / cultured meat.
2. Pure Xbox shouldn't give PETA any attention with articles like this.
3. Commentors on this article should refrain from projecting their political biases because the vast, vast majority of people — from an incredibly wide variety of political views — do not support PETA.
I have absolutely no interest in streaming games on my Series S — but if I could get a cheap device, eg: a Raspberry Pi, to stream Xbox games with I'd be interested in putting it elsewhere in our home.
I'd love to see support for Dark Messiah of Might & Magic Elements on the Xbox 360 added, but personally I'd love to see a lot of older PC games — particularly from 2008 to 2018 or so — that haven't had console ports at all ported to Xbox. There were a lot of great games from that era that didn't get the console treatement.
To increase the library of Japanese games — to attract Japanese developers — Microsoft needs to increase the number of Japanese consumers on the Xbox. And they can do that easily enough by offering developers some kind of service or assistance with translating their games to Japanese.
Aria of Sorrow is arguably the best Castlevania game ever — yes, even better than Symphony of the Night. And Circle of the Moon is pretty good too.
@K1LLEGAL : Because Switch cartridges have a 20-year-lifespan (an inherent issue with all forms of flash ROM) I haven't seen much of a point in collecting physical Switch releases.
@PhhhCough : The puzzles and gameplay in Myst can feel arbitrary and disjointed compared to the Journeyman Project series, hence part of the reason I'd like to see remakes of Riven and Myst III: Exile as they are a lot more cohesive overall. But that isn't to say Myst isn't a good game, more polished games like the Journeyman Project series owe a lot to the experimentation of Myst, and Myst's disjointed gameplay lends itself to a fatastic artistic approach that wouldn't really be possible with other games.
While this could be very cool — there are some decent Android games and apps — it would be even better if Microsoft implemented Android app support on the back-end of Xbox consoles and then gave developers the option to easily migrate their (free and paid) Android games to the Xbox store. Still, as it appears here this could be very cool.
To the surprise of absolutely no one. If Phil Spencer said they're open to having Nintendo Online and PS Now on the Xbox however that would be news-worthy....
It's a shame it doesn't look like it supports local multiplayer. I'm looking for an arena FPS my friends and I can play on one console on party nights, both on the same team against bots and against each other.
It looks like a good game, but c'est la vie. Even if I had all the gaming platforms at my disposal — which unfortunately I do not — there isn't enough time in the day to play all the good games out there.
