@Medic_Alert yes but if you wanna buy a device that let's you play games while listening to music on Spotify and also that let's you watch movies when you feel like it (either Netflix, some browser Web page or even external USB HDD/Flash Disk) you wouldn't go for the switch

@Medic_Alert well they are no longer limited to being just gaming consoles, multimedia device fits it better. I mean, nowdays you don't even need a computer anymore if you don't use it for rendering or something like that. If you are just a basic user that checks/sends emails, reads the news and maybe sometimes writes some documents, you can really just hook up mouse and keyboard to your series S (which is cheaper than a regular computer, really) fire up the edge browser and do all those things there. The last thing I need is for Teamviewer to work in a browser (without much limitation) and I could really just work Home Office on my xbox.

@Medic_Alert Dont they have the apple arcade on their iPhones? Essentialy an iPhone gamepass? I belive they also have exclusive games on iPhones so I think it would match the brand to expand to consoles. The way they would go, imho, is overpriced hardware, with overpriced accesories (I mean just look at the price of the wheels for mac pro, or their monitor stand) which apple fanboys would still buy but I dont think it would do much outside of apple fans.

EDIT: Also the only gaming console on the market is the switch, really, the rest are multimedia devices so the console would also be a good way for them to push apple tv on people and who knows what other products and services they have that they could just slap onto the console

@UltimateOtaku91 Why would anyone think that? Its just a rainbow six gamemode made into its own thing, nothing big here. But it is on gamepass so I'll gladly give it a go

@InterceptorAlpha are you, by any chance, confusing regular battlepass with event pass? Event pass missions do not grant xp, they grant a whole level. Every day (resets at 7pm CET) you have to play 1 game to finish the event challenge that will grant you 1 event pass level. It's always the 1st challenge on top, the challenge is in blue color instead of the regular gray, also the icon is a bit different compared to the rest of the challenges

@InterceptorAlpha Nolife? Its just "play 1 game", any game you want also so I don't think 10 minutes a day is a big "No Life" commitment

@Chaudy Well, my guess would be that once the challenges refreshe since it should also affect challenges. Im not home right now to launch the game and check but I remember the Fractured Tenrai event, when it launched, became avalible at 7 pm CET so its probably around that time.

@CaptainCluck Nah, the souls genre is really popular these days and given that elden ring aint platform limited, it is safe to say more people are anticipating it than BOTW2 for Switch or Starfield for Xbox/Windows

Edit: Also George R. R. Martin being part of it surely attracts a considerable amount of GoT fans

@jrt87 oh no I totally agree with the progression being bad as it is now, I just understand why parts of the battlepass are hidden behind paywall. I also agree that it will be dust on the floor for Microsoft, but not for 343 Industries, they do belong to Microsoft but they do want to make their money with their product that pays their employees and services before the rest heads to Microsoft wallet after it covers what it needs to cover.

@jrt87 Microsoft does have money but they need the money to develop further in all their businesses. 23 million GP subscribers doesn't mean that this much goes to your pocket to spend for whatever. You need to pay the employes, you need to pay for the infrastructure that keeps it going and so on. You also need money in your bank account for tougher times or further investments. We all know they don't make money from selling consoles so they also need to cover that somehow. When making games, you need the game to make enough money to pay for itself, otherwise you won't continue with it as its simply not profitable and noone likes loosing money even if they can afford it. Making a singleplayer game is one thing but making a multiplayer game that needs to be tweaked, developed and needs to run on servers that also cost money, you need to continually make money to pay for all that. Asking why would someone hide things you dont need behind a paywall seems just dumb to me, the answer is quite obvious.

@jrt87 Why? Well it is a free to play game that still costs money to develop and run. They need to make profit somehow and doing it with just cosmetics that do not have any effect on your gameplay and dont make you any stronger than those who dont pay is ok and I don't see how anyone can have a problem with it.

@SacredPYRO If you're in Europe, changing your xboxs location in the settings to new zealand should allow you to play about 12 hours before your timezone release date.

@oconnoclast with the streaming thing I belive they mainly want to take their piece out of the chinese market where everybody and their dog plays on their phone.

@Halucigens Well, people that don't live in big town or big city do have a very limited download speed and I'd bet the majority of people around the world aren't able to download 130 gigs in 40 mins...

@JON22 Well, subsciribing to gamepass for a month or even two will let you play for "reduced price". Otherwise I think it will take quite some time for a sale since it just launched.

@Chaudy I really don't know yet but that will heavily depend on whether you are playing solo with bots, online with randos or online with a coordinated premade group. The last being the fastest.

Loving Back 4 Blood so far

Now I know this is a stupid question but is 12 am midnight? If so does it mean I can play in just a couple of hours if I change my xbox into a new zealand region like it worked for Outriders?

I was in the Beta of this game and I gotta admit I had fun for like two days. Its alright but not worth £34.99 imo.

@Bdbrady If you like stealth games then aragami is for you. Excited for this second one to come out, finished the first one sometime ago on my switch and it was great. The first one also had a coop so Im sure the second one will have it aswell

@Bdbrady I think that Gamepass advertises its games pretty well. Having the app installed on my phone I always recieve notifications on whats coming next. When I open up gamepass on my xbox I always go check the upcoming titles first and when the tilte launches, Gamepass on my xbox homescreen keeps showing me the recently launched title so I don't think discoverability is an issue for upcoming titles, might be an issue for a title that has been sitting there for too long tho.

@uberdaddypig Yeah, since I bought my Series S a day after christmas I've been lost in Tamriel myself. That world is just something else, especially with the new addition of companions

@Dezzy70 Wouldnt the price of gamepass have to increase on a PS and Switch? I mean if Nintendo and/or Sony would allow GP on their platforms, they sure would like to earn money from it.

@Residentsteve01 Well, I get what you are saying and while I personaly did enjoy both the combat and puzzels, it certainly wasn't the reason why I fell in love with the game. For a full expirience this one really has to be played in a dark room with good headphones.

@VenomousAlbino yeah but Sumo has yet to come with something worthwhile. Their latest game Hood was a disaster

@AFCC While I do often play SoT with friends, I mostly go Solo. Its not that the game isnt solo friendly, its just that you have to be a lot more careful. I actually find it more enjoyable, relaxing and rewarding sailing solo.

@Nightcrawler71 also if you have a keyboard that you can hook up to your xbox, it will make your expirience better. While the game can be played solo and I mostly play it that way, its nice to have a keyboard every time you need help with a world boss. The community in the game is really helpful

@Nightcrawler71 Is it your first time on ESO in general? I don't think the gameplay is "dated" or "stiff" but some folks have issues with the combat. I also didnt really like it at first but learned to kinda love it now tho

So hyped for this game, still salty that there won't be a proper crossplay tho, not on launch atleast

@DreamerAbe86 No, not really a fan boy. I've never been loyal to just one platform, always bought what made the most sense to me at that time. For example my Series S is my first xbox console. Following the news on the videogame industry all over social medias and websites like this one made PS fanboys stand out the most tho. Nintendrones usually make dumb excuses for dumb decisions Nintendo made, PS fanboys tend to trash every other platform everywhere calling people who chose a different gaming consoles all sorts of names. But hey thats just my expirience

@SalmonTag I don't really care about exclusivity and I would be ok with microsoft releasing their Exclusives everywhere but I have to admit that PS fanboys tend to be the most toxic community online so I'd really enjoy seeing them lose it if TES6 and other bethesda games would be confirmed xbox exclusives.

@Porridge2215 Cyberpunk has a lot more than just a few bugs. Most of them rather immersion breaking (like Cops/npc spawning and despawning randomly) that ruined the game for me. Not to mention that AWFUL AI thats way worse than GTA5 has (and that game released in 2013)
