Re: Talking Point: As December Draws Near, How Excited Are You For The GTA 6 Trailer?

Tomato_Goose

@G1lbo differences between announcements, trailers, all kinds of marketing promises and final output throughout years of gaming have actually changed my perception of such things. Should I be excited with upcoming TES6? Nope. I do know nothing about it. At this point it may become some kind of match-3 game. Low chances, but possible. Should I be excited with upcoming GTA 6? Nah... Still have zero information about the game. Maybe it will be online multiplayer-only open world with insane amount battle passes? Judging by GTA Online it is not entirely impossible. Hard miss for me in this case.

Once more and more details come to the light I will analyze them and start building some attitude towards the subject. If there will be some things that I love in modern games, I will get excited, of course. But not before I actually see anything.

@themightyant guess, I need something small to take a break from BG3 and big games in general before jumping into Spider-Man 2. Might spend some time in Diablo 4 second season or grab a couple of small indies: DREDGE / Dave the Diver / Hall of Torment. Sea of Stars is also on the list, but it surely require more time, even though it looks so cozy.

I am a little bit surprised with most of the comments here. Guess, there is a strong need to clarify some moments about BG here.

1. You don't need to know anything about Dungeon & Dragons, Forgotten Realms, previous titles like Neverwinter Nights 1-3, Baldur's Gate 1-2, etc.. The world and the narrative do a great job telling everything you need in different ways: from in-game cinematics to insane amount of books and notes. You will understand the game better if you are already familiar with something from the list above, but that is not mandatory.

2. Don't be afraid of dices. It is an awesome and easy mechanic once you've thrown them a couple of times. Remember Dragon Age: Origins? It had dice, too. You simply did not pay enough attention to them.

3. Give turn-based combat a try. It is very in-depth, yet easy to go. And fun. Amount of different actions you can take to eliminate all the enemies is insane: starting from throwing fireballs into a pack of wolves to beating a giant spider with a piece of baloney.

4. There is no insane amount of text. Remember Pillars of Eternity 1-2? Where you need a binocular even with a 85" TV? All crucial test here is dubbed, you can adjust the size of it in the game or entirely miss reading something besides the dialogue phrases.

5. UI and controller support are done so damn well(. Everything is easy to target, all the actions are intuitive. Solid work.

6. It is the best RPG out there due moment and will stay so for a while. I wrote best RPG not cRPG / aRPG / etc., because all the elements here are mastered to perfection: best cinematics in genre, tons of classes, spells and equipment, great replay value and variety, hand-made outstanding content (from location to quests and dialogues).

There is literally no excuse not to try Baldur's Gate 3. This is an RPG gem in a gaming crown and one of the best games made out there. Larian did a great job and they are one of a few studios who continue making great products and real games for gamers. There is no coincidence is took all the awards at the Golden Joystick Awards 2023 and this is just the beginning. Just read some reviews in steam and preorder it on XBOX. I've played this game in Early Access via Steam, I completed it on PS5 and hell yeah I will buy for xbox one more time.

@Darylb88 I am 70 hours into it on PS5 and had 3 bugs - two bugged animations for poison clouds and one bugged texture for a bridge in act 2. Won't call that buggy but experience differ, what can I say. And you won't find any "innovations" in a classic cRPG game - just excellence in most of the elements which make a game cRPG. Starting from character creation and roleplaying to quests, variations, etc.. Of course it is not perfect, because perfection is achievable only in our own minds, but BG3 is closer to the cRPG perfection than any other game. Maybe even closest to perfect RPG in general.

Re: Talking Point: It's Now Been Over 10 Years Since Rockstar Launched A New Grand Theft Auto

GTA 5 was a solid single-player experience. Even though it is not my favourite game among GTA series, it still had tense and fun moments.

Online mode was fun... at the very beginning. At least to spend some time there with a bunch of friends . But when I decided to dive into it once again (after years) it was full of cheaters, scammers and no-lifers.

At this moment I think that too popular online elements had too much impact on both developers and gamers and Rockstar will focus on those things in GTA 6 foremost. Even if it means worse single-player campaign. Moreover I doubt that Rockstar will dare to make such sarcastic and insane games like they used to. But I would like to be wrong, of course.

That's an awesome idea and a brilliant opportunity to play some nice games, improve writing skills and meet new people. Well done, @ralphdibny and @Balta666 !

I might give it a try but not this month for sure - too much work to be done and too many games to be played. Anyway, all the best with this cool stuff!
