@Weapon_Wheel even though I agree with some of your points - especially in regard with stepping aside from previous generation consoles - I doubt that Cyberpunk 2077 is worth all those praise across the internet.
What is cool with it?
Some staged moments of the main story.
Some characters.
Graphics... with high-end rigs.
Overall cyberpunk setting.
What is not that cool?
Dull and dead open world. It does not react to your action 99% of the time.
Boring side activities (including most of the fixers tasks) and side quests that seems to be more of "fun moment for a couple of minutes".
Many problems with logic and motivation (starting with VI communicating with Johnny as good buddies once their car is damaged by Delamain seconds after Johnny tried to kill VI is his / her room and to the whole motivation of Yorinobu Arasaka).
Poor RPG elements. Most of the answers with stats requirements change nothing. Most interactions with stats requiring items outside the main campaign (and even in it) are worthless. Clothes ruined completely after the DLC came out even though implants became better. Different builds feel not that distinctive. Stealth is boring and slow to enjoy.
Almost to none sense of exploration. Yep, you may find something out there... legendary item... that gives you nothing but a cool (jokes) look after that patch.
Excessive elements. Cars and houses - I am looking at you.
Bugs and technical issues.
And the biggest problems was lying to players in marketing materials and all those big words and loud promises. Never betray the auditory that trusts you. Even if CDPR said something like "Dudes, we've decided to try the new setting for our game. It may be harsh at the edges, but we've made it with love" - there would have been much less complaints.
Don't get me wrong. Cyberpunk 2077 is a decent game. Even good. But it is like the first Witcher game - rough, bugged, frustrating and more of a 7 out of 10, to be honest. With potential to become a great series.
But if you'd like a damn good cyberpunk game - try Deus Ex. Even after all these years and with much less budget it kick 2077 in almost all the crucial moments.
Well, despite all the argues across the internet about different top-manager of big gaming companies, I find it awesome that some of them still play games and have some understanding of them besides the pure metrics and revenue.
@BBB reviewers say that in terms of the gameplay it is pretty much the same as the first entry: walking, solving riddles and fighting 1 vs 1 on small arenas.
@GamingFan4Lyf even though I agree with most of your statements, Resident's Evil team does great job optimizing and polishing their games. Hope, next RE will not break this tradition, even if settled in an open world.
@Jedge396 if you like looter-shooters, it is a decent game. Traversal is cool, shooting feels good, characters have enough differences between them and there are dozens of builds to try. Though, plot is kinda OK, nothing wonderful, nothing bad. And end-game is boring. Also a new season added playable Joker and some other stuff, which I haven't tried yet and probably won't in nearest future - too many other games to play.
@ZuneTattooGuy it's a lame excuse for poor optimization, mate. If someone makes an open-world game, the first step is to choose the right tools or properly modify the existing ones.
@Lup it's nice when people have enough time to clear most of the games Happy for you.
I recently noticed that my backlog has been steadily growing for some time already. Had to stop buying games that I don't want to play at the very current moment, otherwise there is a great chance I won't even launch them after buying.
Even though I generally like images with many details, this controller imo looks out of touch with Fallout. There are much better unofficial thingies on the Internet.
Wish all the games had demo-versions. It's an amazing way to push users to buying different titles in which they have no confidence or that much interest. Though I understand that in modern gaming world, where unbaked and unpolished games can sell well with proper marketing, releasing demos can also harm such products.
Nah, I'll wait half a year or so to give this one more chance. Had some fun during beta, but progression and overall grind seemed too slow for me. Too many other games to finish first.
Hope one day we'll see another great game in the LOTR universe. Perhaps, something epic like the Witcher games but in this setting. Or even Battle for Middle-Earth 3. Or another Shadow of... Sigh, man can dream...
@BacklogBrad both games can be found on different sales for such a low price and so often that you'd better not panic at all. I would also suggest starting with Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, even though these 2 parts are so different...
@Kaloudz Bound in Blood was great - fast-paced wild west shooter with cool moments and slow-motion. Take a look at gameplay on youtube - guess, even nowadays it might look well.
@Romans12 it has been selling on PS Store from the beginning of September and just for a month on Xbox. A little bit too early for the sales here, I guess.
@johnK once unlocked items are added to standard loot pool - one may find them in crates or buy during the shopping phase between the stages. Select "progress" in the main menu, almost all characters after winning with them unlock an item: from something simple like Snail or Potato thrower to insane items like the red Potato with 9 positive stats.
@johnK you are not entirely true, mate. Alongside with unlocking new characters you also unlock new items, which do make new runs easier. Some of them are almost a must for completing the last difficulties with some characters. So I can only agree with the Steam tags, where both rogue-like and rogue-lite tags are present.
Though nowadays music is probably the strongest part of all games: in worst cases it is just OK but in most of the titles one might find severals tracks which give you chills.
@Californiakid Palworld is great and yep, doke v looked promising during the showcase, even though it almost vanished from my radar in 2023. Glad to know it will release in 2024.
@Kaloudz Dragon Age vibes might come from those bright colors with orange rocks and green plants - DA:I has plenty of those.
Even though I generally like Avowed and have solid amount of trust in Obsidian, I still have some points of concern: lack of impact during battles, when you hit enemies with melee weapons; no examples of spells affecting the surroundings (like freezing or electrifying liquids, water, etc.), nothing said about character development even though this game is an RPG. Still number 2 in my waiting list among xbox games right now. After the next Fable, of course.
@Californiakid I might be just on the opposite side of the player's community - have almost dropped any online games, since they require a lot of time. May I ask what are you currently playing among those multiplayer titles?
@Kaloudz hardly doubt that. Ark 2 will be the same thing as the first one.
Could not get into the original Ark for years, to be honest. Even having dozen of friends playin it all days long. But I am having a blast with Palworld at the moment and find it much better even in early access state.
@Lup I will bet nothing on Silksong releasing this year, to be honest... At least until I see some decent confirmation from devs themselves. And even afterwards there will be a shade of doubt chasing my will to preorder it
Well, Obsidian is damn good at crafting awesome worlds and cool stories, those are their strong sides. Even if Avowed looked way worse, I'd still give it a try. No complaints about the graphics though - not the best in the class, but still very nice.
@Kaloudz Brotato is great. One of the best rogue-lites out there: intense combat, many different characters, tons of builds, good sense of progression and amazing small sessions for those who care about their leisure time. If you like the genre or would like to try rogue-likes / rogue-lites - give it a go, it's a solid starting point. 10/10 score in Steam - 66000 people won't lie.
Well, there are plenty of better RTS games on PC. And even some alternatives on Xbox. This one was an interesting project, but I could hardly imagine some solid and constant player base for Minecraft Legends. So that's how everything turned out.
@Kaloudz for me it was the hardest AC to get into speaking about the latest 3 titles. And the one I enjoyed the least, to be honest, even though it has bright moments and some cool stuff in it. Perhaps I was just too tired after spending hundreds of hours in Odyssey.
Also AC 2 and 4 are my favourite titles of the series, too
@Darude84 just don't try to complete all the marks on the map from the very beginning. Valhalla has insane amount of different things to do, and most of that content is mediocre at best. Concentrate on story and main quests. In this case you'll avoid getting tired of the game too fast and at the same time visit a solid amount of locations anyway.
Well, most of the impressions over the internet from users (nor bloggers or any kind of writers / reviewers) I've read are mediocre at best.
Nice world design and graphics as Ubisoft always do, but many problems with main gameplay loop and progression. Lack of interesting exploration and ground / boarding fights. Many repetitive actions.
Even though I'd like a good game with pirate setting, this one might not be the case. At least for now. Hope Ubisoft will improve all the existing aspects and add more features after the launch.
@InterceptorAlpha I can understand console only release at first - just to exclude piracy and have more time to polish and test performance on different types of hardware for PC release.
But PlayStation time exclusive? Hardly doubt that. Alongside with PS5 PRO + GTA 6 bundle.

@johnK I hardly doubt there will be 60 FPS + ray tracing on current gen, so you might have to wait for a little bit too long.

@jolteon23 you can use xCloud on Steam Deck. Even Forza and Gears feel good, if you have decent Internet connection.

@PhileasFragg one of the best tactic games out there. If you are into a genre or like superheroes in general it is a good choice.

So, it is basically ARK but with cute pets and pokeballs... Why not.
