@themightyant that's your opinion, and others are entitled to theirs. If other people think its innovative then so be it, that is how opinions work.
Why do you feel the need to mock anything? Can't we just celebrate gaming and congratulate them on winning?
People can be indifferent towards a game, but people who are indifferent don't constantly talk about it, they move on. Starfields discourse tipped over to hatred long ago
It still amazes me that certain commenters refuse to believe that some people actually enjoyed the game, even if they did not, and instead prefer to regurgitate bile towards the game at every single opportunity, as if we have not heard them repeat it ad nauseum since before the game even launched. It's been months, is it not time to move on with your life?
@JayJ it will certainly be interesting to see how the save issue is fixed in the end.
On PS5 the error 544 issue was a game issue, fixed by Larian eventually. Also one of their updates deleted peoples saves and had to be rolled back....
It's difficult to see a studio with so many issues on every single platform, get nothing but praise. It's why they get away with launching games in such a poor state, and people deserve it to be honest, because they just blindly defend it.
@FraserG thanks for your reply, and I do see where you are comming from a little bit. But from my point of view i think that your special treatment of 1 game is part of the problem and not a part of any solution. Infact it is actively getting in the way of a solution. Games release in such a terrible state these days, and it's us the consumer who suffers every single time.
The save issue was widely reported on PS5 at launch (error code 544 if you are interested) and they launch on another platform with a similar critical save bug. How can we expect to get better products if critics turn a blind eye everytime they like a game?
The game should be reviewed in its current state, no if or buts, or you are giving every other publisher a get out of jail free card.
If its OK for BG3 to release in a mess, and score a perfect score no less, why would any other developer or publisher care about releasing a functioning product
@FraserG BG3 launched with a similar critical saving issue on PS5 (error 544) it also launched with hundreds of other bugs on ps5 and PC. I don't agree with your special treatment of 1 game at all. Its a bad look for this site protecting a game that launched in a less than ideal state on every platform. Customers deserve better
The game released on PS5 with a critical saving issue also (error 544) and a huge list of issues. The game released on PC with an entire encyclopedia of issues. So I don't think Larian are as squeaky clean on this as some on here are trying to make out.
I would have put wo long in there somewhere, but a pretty good list. It was a good year for games, let's hope 2024 delivers some awesome games aswell. Merry Christmas everyone
Not sure i agree with holding off the score until a game breaking issue is fixed. I can't remember any other game getting such a free pass. I get people enjoy the game, and it's a brilliant accomplishment by the team no doubt.
But it seems like such a cheat, just to guarantee a popular game gets a certain score. You should not have to change your review policy around 1 game, just to give it a certain score. That is just strange to me and a game should be reviewed on its current state, and not idle promises. The game still has issues on all platforms, some more minor than others, and some still there months later. No platform has been smooth, at all.
I have seen other games get deducted points for bugs on this very site, so it's certainly not consistent at all. I hope you will be extending the same courtesy to other games going forward, and not just picking and choosing.
How are customers going to get well made bug free product if everyone just skips over the issues. No wonder games release in such a poor state, they are almost given a free pass.
The leapfrog document with their worries about ABK is pretty interesting, they seem pretty worried.
But you have to feel for the devs. Personal info leaked and a decade of reveal moments robbed from all the people who work so hard to make games for us.
On BG3 specifically, while nobody is questioning the quality of the game, the release has been technically poor on PC, PS and now Xbox, with various issues on every platform.
It still amazes me the state games release in these days, across almost all publishers and platforms.
Congratulations to turn 10 on winning sports game of the year and scooping another award at TGA. It won more awards than Zelda, Spiderman and Starfield combined
I started Cyberpunk on PS5 again at the weekend, and while I am finally enjoying the game very much, it still has a large quantity of bugs and crashes, which people seem to be giving a free pass to as its "fixed"
In 7 hours playtime it has crashed 3 times, I have experienced various graphical bugs and glitches like the screen going black and parts of the map not loading correctly and npcs still t post.
I expected a lot better on the technical front after all the redemption arc stories and rave reviews it got.
Just about to finish shadow of the tomb raider, which i got for £8 in the recent sales. Really enjoyed it to be honest and finally finished the trilogy.
Can't decide if I should play Cyberpunk since the recent updates or FF16 next
@BRT15 if you do not mind a wire the gamesir G7 SE is a great controller (it comes with a long 3m braided cable) Its has hall effect sticks and triggers, so drift should never be a problem. The sticks are much nicer to use and way more accurate. Also comes with 2 back buttons and an app to configure everything like deadzones, instant triggers etc. I think its cheap for only 49.99 on amazon, I would almost class it an affordable pro controller. It's also sometimes on sale for 39.99 if you buy at the right time.
I will be buying it when they release a physical version, I enjoyed the original alan wake.
I think it's way off mark to blame gamepass for this when it has done equally bad on all platforms. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me in this instance.
I clean the series x and ps5 once a year. They are both easy to take the covers off to get to the fans/heatsink .
I am too scared to take the switch apart (I have a launch model which is exploitable) and that thing is definitely a little louder than when I got it, but stil works fine.
@RazputinAquato it's a distinct possibility. But it's also possible more jobs will be created in fields like AI, coding and IT, which in theory could offset alot of it. But I am not sure anyone has the answers right now as it's too early
I own my own Civil Engineering company, and for manhole imaging and sewer cctv surveys, we now use an AI system who watches them and reports any faults, instead of an engineer. The AI system is far more accurate and takes a fraction of the time. It has been really awesome from a business owners perspective
@Mephisto2869 it is alot easier to include various platforms at the start or near the start of a services inception. That ship has sailed for me. It's much more difficult after several years worth of content has been designed specifically for one platform.
The idea of Cloud is that it will allow gamepass access to almost any screen available eventually, without the hassle of porting to various platforms. This will be MS end goal, not a very long and expensive porting mission to Playsation and Nintendo. Why port a game at considerable cost when you can stream it from your smart TV with a dualsence or joycon. Just the way I see it going
I really don't see gamepass on PS or Nintendo because
1. Sony would not want it on PlayStation, it could lower the income they generate from their own console
2. MS more than likely does not want to split gamepass subs with Sony or Nintendo.
3. It would be a logistical nightmare to try and port all 1st party and 2nd/3rd party exclusive games to Playstation and Nintendo. It would take years and years.
4. I imagine the whole point of cloud is to take away most of the headaches I have listed above, it solves almost everything. Why port games to various platforms if a cloud option is available?
5. I imagine it would be a publishing/contractual nightmare, just the thought of it gives me a headache
After watching the trailer, the game is disgusting. It is almost a mass murder simulator with what looks like school massacre levels from my brief watch. What is wrong with people?
@Mephisto2869 MS do not need to make the $69 billion back, they swapped $69 billion in cash for a $69 billion asset, that could be worth more or less than that in the future.
A bit like purchasing a house, you do not need to make that money back, as you have purchased an asset with considerable resale value
I swear the same people in this place moan about absolutely everything, no matter how small or inconsequential it is to their lives. In the grand scheme of life, this is an absolute nothing burger
Asking for compensation, come on, its a advert for a video game not an accident at work that has severely impacted the rest of your life. The entitlement from gamers is truly extraordinary
@themightyant interesting post mate. The last game I remember that compared VRS was Resident Evil Village (i think) with xbox hardware vrs producing better imagine quality than the ps5 software equivalent. But maybe the GE has a hardware accelerated version that Capcom did not use? I would be very surprised, as they would have used it, but it's not impossible.
The control results are why I theorised Mesh shaders, as its the biggest difference between the 2 versions of North Light. But who knows!

Re: Poll: Three Years On, What Do You Think Of Quick Resume For Xbox Series X|S?
Never used it. I'm too old to change my ways and the loading is so quick on the new consoles, its really not something I am that bothered about
I don't use rest mode either, full power down on all my consoles. The consoles boot up quick enough for me.
