Re: Xbox Legend 'Major Nelson' Shares His Curiosity About This Week's Rumours

Sakai

@Titntin thanks for clarifying, as you say it's been increasingly difficult to distinguish fact from fiction in all of this. But who knows you could be right!

This is a far bigger discussion than childish chest beating over whether you prefer a blue or green toy?
This could change the course of gaming, for better or worse, in a way that transcends ridiculous brand loyalties.

This has been one of the most frustrating things in the whole discussion. I wish more people would understand this and see the bigger picture

Re: God Of War Creator Suggests New Exclusive Strategy Could Be 'Desirable' For Xbox

Sakai

Here is a question that I do not have the information to answer with 100% guarantee, which is integral to the whole topic. Maybe somebody else does and could chime in?

Would the increase in 1st party game sales on other platforms like PS and Nintendo, offset the potential loss of 3rd party game sales, dlc and microtransactions on their store if less people purchased stuff from the xbox store and xbox consoles in general. Microsoft make 30% on everything.

If I was to guess I would say no, not at all.

I think its something Jaffe and most other people completely miss in their calculations

Re: Xbox Legend 'Major Nelson' Shares His Curiosity About This Week's Rumours

Sakai

@Titntin Is it a Microsoft event? Where was that confirmed? I have read the rumours but could not find anything official, and just presumed that was people guessing/rationalising it in their minds.

If it is MS going over the heads of Xbox, surely we will see resignations from Xbox leadership next week.

Next week should be interesting.

Re: The FTC Is Concerned About Xbox's Recent Batch Of Employee Layoffs

Sakai

@somnambulance @Widey85 Since the 1970s, no verticle merger has been unwound in the USA. The government has lost all 3 verticle merger challenges in the modern age with those cases being:

UnitedHealth/Change
Illumina/Grail
AT&T/Time Warner

And most of those had the support of the DoJ as well, which they do no in the MS/ATVI case

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Expect To See From Microsoft's Update On The Future Of Xbox?

Sakai

Is that not normal for everyone to not know....Other wise leaks happen....I would only expect senior management to know until the information is public. These discussions will only involve senior management. Why do people think that is weird?

The more interesting part of his post is that he is also insinuating that a lot of the people who started the rumours last week/weekend are backtracking on them as they did not have a clue?

Only Microsoft knows, but they are slowly destroying all their good over the next week

Re: Phil Spencer Addresses Xbox Speculation Ahead Of 'Business Update Event'

Sakai

@themightyant right back at you mate, you can have a good brag if you are correct, it's all just guess work at the minute.

If the rumours are true, it will be worse than Don Mattricks E3 for Xbox in my opinion. A completely insane decision for a 3 trillion dollar company to chase a quick buck and not see the big picture

Re: Phil Spencer Addresses Xbox Speculation Ahead Of 'Business Update Event'

Sakai

@themightyant i did not say anything remotely like that mate. it's not about the game coming to another platform, it's the fact it will be the death of xbox, and competition in the gaming industry for the reasons I have already mentioned.

You already have devs comming out questioning if its even worth making a port for xbox now. This is only going to get worse and worse. Just so we are on the same page, nowhere did i complain about more people playing games. I am complaining about xbox kneecapping their own system and providing no competition.

They have death spiralled their own console and brand to make a few quick bucks from game sales, it's insane.

Re: Xbox Indie Developer Shares His Concerns Following This Week's Rumours

Sakai

And this is exactly what I said in the other thread.

If they put any exclusives onto rival platforms without it being reciprocated, it is the beginning of the end for the ecosystem.

Nobody is going to waste their time porting games to a dieing platform that made itself irrelevant.

Even if its only a handful of games, every game announcement and every xbox direct, people will not be discussing the games, they will be asking what platforms or how long its exclusive. They will have effectively killed every single drop of hype on their platform.

Next week could make Don Mattricks E3 look like a fun family vacation

Re: Phil Spencer Addresses Xbox Speculation Ahead Of 'Business Update Event'

Sakai

And if it is only a handful of games like some are hoping, that just means every game announcement, every bit of information, will be followed not by excitement, but constant questions of if its comming to PS/Nintendo, or that it will eventually go there anyway. Xbox hype will be dead. Its death by a thousand cuts and the writing will be on the wall.

Re: Phil Spencer Addresses Xbox Speculation Ahead Of 'Business Update Event'

Sakai

It will be just the start of a death spiral if they put any of their exclusives on rival platforms, even after a year or two. Less reason to own an xbox, even less people buy xbox, less 3rd party games come to xbox, xbox slowly dies. Don't fall for the PR speak, if they follow through on the rumours, this is the beginning of the end for xbox.

As a multiplatform gamer I supported the ABK aquisition as I believed it would increase competition in the industry and we the consumers would benefit. For MS to run away and wave the white flag is a disgrace.

There is a reason nobody else would be stupid enough to give their exclusives away, as it would destroy their ecosystem

Re: Reaction: We're Conflicted About Xbox Exclusives Potentially Going To PS5

Sakai

If they put their exclusives on ps and Nintendo there is no reason to own an xbox at all, not even gamepass will save the ecosystem. Even less people will spend money on or even purchase the platform in the first place and honestly I will have very little sympathy for them, as they did it to themselfs.

They may not plan to be the next Sega, but if they do this, they will. The xbox ecosystem will be deader than a dead thing from deadland

Re: Thrustmaster's Latest Xbox Elite-Style Controller Is Here, Featuring 'Cutting Edge' Tech

Sakai

@InterceptorAlpha everyone has their own preferences but we survived for decades with wired controllers, I am sure you will get along fine with it mate, it is 3m so you kind of forget its there to be honest.

@MaccaMUFC make sure you buy the SE as that is the one with hall effect sticks. I have had mine for a while now and find it a really great controller. The sticks are way more accurate than those found in the standard controller aswell, so you get precision and reliability.
Makes you wonder why the standard controller does not have back buttons or hall effect sticks, if gamesir can do it at a reasonable price point.

Re: Thrustmaster's Latest Xbox Elite-Style Controller Is Here, Featuring 'Cutting Edge' Tech

Sakai

I know I sound like a broken record, but you can get the Gamesir G7 SE for £49.99 on Amazon and it has almost all of the features of a pro controller for a fraction of the price. It has instant triggers, programmable back buttons etc but best of all it has hall effect sticks and triggers, so stick drift is a thing of the past. I would strongly recommend it to anyone who is not allergic to a wire. 10/10 controller.

Re: Palworld Analysed By Digital Foundry, And There Are Some Surprising Results On Xbox

Sakai

EG and DF have both been weird about this game, very condescending and frankly unnecessarily rude, all the while giving a free passes to almost every other game. I commented this on their YouTube video as well, and this is from somebody who has never even played the game. The quality over there is getting way worse than what it used to be, by a long long way, and they seem to be more interested in jumping on bandwagons than anything else

Re: Palworld Under 'Investigation' As Pokémon Company Issues Statement

Sakai

I am no expert on copyright law, but from the little I do know, I have not seen anything that the Pokémon company will succeed in.

They are not copies, more inspired by, and from a legal standpoint, that will be OK.

And if I was to guess, this will have already been investigated and settled pre-launch.

The statement from the Pokémon company reads more like "stop messaging us" than "we are going to sue them"

Re: Halo TV Star Sends Blunt Message To Fans About No-Helmet Master Chief

Sakai

It's a completely separate thing to the games at least, where Chief keeps his helmet firmly fastened on at all times.

This is not true and its one of the weirdest things in all of this is. At the end of Halo 4, if you complete it on legendary, Chief already takes his helmet off for a brief moment, so this is not a new thing, even for the games.

There has also been other flashbacks/glimpses of his appearance for example Fall of Reach and during the animations/comics we get a glimpse of what he looks like as well.

Also if any of you have read any of the books, Spartans regularly take off their armour, including Master Chief on the original Halo ring during Halo CE.

It seems the hardcore complainers online don't actually know much about Spartans or Master Chief at all, what a suprise

Re: Starfield Wins Steam's 'Most Innovative Gameplay' Award

Sakai

@PsBoxSwitchOwner a quick look through my comment history clearly shows I do not defend everything Microsoft does, even the most basic check. Did you not check before making baseless accusations? And he @ me first, why would I ignore him?

@Kevw2006 I made my opinion clearly obvious the first time, I don't think its constructive to repeat it to you again. People are welcome to share their opinions, but regurgitating it in every article over several months is not needed, no.

Re: Starfield Wins Steam's 'Most Innovative Gameplay' Award

Sakai

@themightyant Your thoughts on Starfield were interesting the first 5 times, but the next 100 times not so much, and that goes for everyone.

Like I said if I don't like a game, I don't go around every single article spamming it with the same comments over and over again, because that is selfish and honestly a total waste of my time.

If you find that enjoyable then more power to you, I just think its not a good look, and wanted to call it out.

Its not adding anything new to the discussion, its just a dunking contest. I dont think we will ever see eye to eye on this, so I will just leave it there mate

Re: Starfield Wins Steam's 'Most Innovative Gameplay' Award

Sakai

@themightyant I still don't understand why you feel the need to mock the game. Why not just disagree and move on? There are plenty of games I do not like, but I don't go around telling everyone in every single article on the game, because that would just be a bit sad and selfish.

What is it about this game specifically that you and the others can't just do that. You actively mock it, and it just comes across a bit desperate that you want everyone to agree with you, when alot of people dont.

We have all read the same comments from the same posters for months ad nauseum, what exactly is it bringing to the conversation that is interesting or worthwhile or new? It is just another dunking contest like the last few months
