I would argue that digital games have the potential to be better for video game preservation when you consider disc rot, wear and tear etc.

But that's only if there are some industry wide practices enforced that ensure people always have access to their digital purchases. And we are nowhere near that yet.

I've said it before but, Asha really does seem to be making a lot of strong and positive moves so far.

I agree they should pull back from porting games to other systems and completely agree that they should start promoting their exclusive games.

It's strange to me how many companies seem to constantly be making new Xbox controllers considering the relative market share that Xbox consoles have. I assume a lot of these are aimed at PC gamers.

I will definitely be buying the next Xbox. The next generation will be my last before I quit "modern" gaming.

I already have a backlog that will last me until the day I die so Helix and PS6 will be more than enough alongside my other 40+ consoles.

It's still really crazy to me how different the current games industry would be if Xbox hadn't completely fluffed the Xbox One reveal and launch.

They were on such a high after the 360 generation and if they had launched it as a games machine, no DRM, without Kinect and with backwards compatibility, the gaming landscape would be nothing like it is now.

Asha seems to be saying and doing a lot of good things but it will take a monumental effort to ever have them overtake PlayStation.

@Katiecooh I said the Series X|S generation is third out of 4 generations hardware wise - meaning Xbox hardware generations, as there have been 4 generations of Xbox hardware. But it is by far the most profitable Xbox generation out of the four generations due to Game Pass and digital sales.

So many haters here. The Series S is an incredible machine and given how the industry is heading, having a lower priced entry point to the same generation of games is something that should continue.

Exclusives will return by default once the hardware is irrelevant after the next generation of Helix and PS6.

Can you watch The Simpsons on Netflix? No.

Can you watch Fallout on Disney+? No.

Can you watch Stranger Things on Prime Video? No.

Gaming won't go full streaming anytime soon, but Xbox games will be tied to the Xbox store and PlayStation games will be tied to the PlayStation store.

@Balaam_ Having games fully on disc is a thing of the past. Updates and DLC are the standard now and have been for generations.

What still makes me laugh is the fact that both PlayStation and Xbox have been scaled back PCs in a box for a very long time. The days of consoles being very unique pieces of hardware are a distant memory.

I remember the days when the Mega Drive and SNES would get the same title released yet get completely different games. That never happens now.

You've proven my point that Sony have been poor throughout this entire generation.

I have played my PS3 as my main PlayStation this entire generation because the quality and quantity of games is far higher.

@DennisReynolds The first party output for PS5 has been poor from Sony compared to every other PlayStation generation.

I adore the look of this game but the name has always bothered me for some reason. Just so forgettable.

The Xbox One X is such a beautiful piece of hardware.

It's also crazy to think how different the industry would probably be if the Don Mattrick version of events never happened and the Xbox One era began with Phil's strategy.

I've always seen it as a nice bonus if the head of a gaming company is a gamer. Not a prerequisite. I'd rather they know how to run a business than beat my high scores.

I think the late Satoru Iwata was the person that everyone (unfairly) gets compared to. If they're not as passionate about playing games as he was then their ability to be a CEO falls by the wayside. Ridiculous.
