Xbox Boss Explains Her Gamertag Activity, Says 'Faking Would Be A Terrible Idea'

Looks like the internet bullies did their job.

She obviously isn't that big a gamer and set up the profile when she knew she was getting the job!
It's probably mandatory for someone in her position in Xbox to have an active gamertag and must of got the best part of a month to beef up her gamerscore!
It shouldn't really take Columbo to figure things like this out!

I’m starting to appreciate her — I like the straightforward way she talks to people. And yes, it’s sad to see so much hate and malice in the gaming community sometimes.

I like her, she seems sincere so far. Let's see what decisions she starts making, that's what matters in the end.

Some reactions comes from mistrust, not malice. We can understand this lack of confidence for Microsoft, at this moment. That's Microsoft job to reverse.

More than "gamer proof" or sympathy on the social web, I'd like to see some real pro-costumer actions here.

and this gamertag was seemingly only set up in January of 2026, but she's been very busy with it since then.
In the last month alone, Sharma has played 30 games, some of which she's got the full completion for. She has all the achievements in Firewatch and Townscaper, nearly all the achievements in Ball x Pit, A Short Hike, Gone Home and What Remains of Edith Finch, and she's also played a fair bit of Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, Vampire Survivors and various other games. She has an Xbox gamerscore of 10,870 at the time of writing.

Well, the article mentioned it a couple of times, so its only fair that people reacted on it. But apparently people weren’t suspicious over nothing, they were actually right that she didn’t play all those games. Not that it matters what her score is in the first place.

Personally, it was not just the gamerscore, its the way she leaned in heavily with things like top 3’s and blades that somehow came across inauthenthic to me. I have no problem with her though, and really dont care if she’s a gamer or not

Anyone with half a brain knows it wasn’t. Hell not even half a brain, but it’s what PR want you to do so she says it.

Her chair isn't even warm yet and the Internet is already lining up to bully or discredit her over nothing at every opportunity.

Judge her on the decisions she makes, the direction she takes Xbox in and the success of the brand in general. It'll be a few months at the absolute bare minimum before any of that becomes evident, so people need to step back, wait to see how things shake out and - most importantly of all - stop being impulsive childish cretins.

Ok she's not a big gamer ,not a problem BUT please talk to gamers about what they want for the future of Xbox

It's not like she got a GOW Seriously achievement in a month or so. Then I would be thinking foul play.

This is the last year I will be gaming on Xbox, there’s still a few games this year that I will buy on my Series X, but after, I will move to Steam and GOG. My Xbox will be retired, my backlog installed on an external HDD, and the console will be offline going forward. Shame really, but all good things have to come to an end at some point.

I’ll judge her based on what she does or doesn’t do for the Xbox brand. She can play or not play whatever she wants.

There's an incredibly toxic crowd out there. They mistake anger and bullying for a response. Sharma is new to the job. Whether he does good things or not, I don't understand all this backlash right now. People are looking for something to get angry about instead of enjoying the game. Honestly, all I want to say since Sharma took the job is: what's wrong with you guys?

This is a professional job. Everybody talks just like an expert about everyting. I will wait sharma's and microsoft's move and i'll choice pay or not for their products. That's all.

@Gemini53 Ultimately it's coming from a group of people who will likely never even reach 10% of the career success she has achieved so far.

I hope for her success because if she is successful then Xbox will be so as a consequence.

@Fiendish-Beaver this is in no way an insinuation towards you as I'm sure her being female doesn't matter to you as you stated, but it will absolutely, 100% colour the reaction towards her from certain quarters. Misogyny and sexism is absolutely rampant on the internet and I think it's a little naive to think that it hasn't found its way to this situation.

Beyond that, it's remarkable that people care so much. Even if she has doctored her gamerscore - who cares?

She's definitely AI. But most people won't care that she is anyway. They wanna see Xbox run by AI.

This is exactly why Xbox will be gone in the next few years. I'm believing more and more that she is indeed there to sunset it.

And to no surprise, most of these accounts defending this were made this year.

Whoever earned that gamerscore, my takeaway is I need to up my game. I got a few bronze trophies and no GS this month. I did play through And Roger and a lot of Hades 2 on Switch, but they don't give points. Challenge accepted!
