We've heard a lot from Xbox boss Asha Sharma recently about her plans to evolve the brand and address areas that she believes needs fixing, and The Verge has shared new quotes that she apparently told employees at a recent meeting.

This is from around the same time that Sharma and Matt Booty issued a massive public statement on the future of the Xbox brand, with Sharma highlighting the need to "fix the fundamentals on console and PC" — something she alluded to in that statement as well.

Here's a bit of what she reportedly said to employees:

"Players are frustrated with us, they feel like we haven’t updated our console enough, they feel like our PC presence isn’t very strong."

"We’re going to start by restoring our core. We have to fix the fundamentals on console and PC. We have to sweat every single detail and every single part of the experience to get to fun much faster and make it simpler."

Later in the conversation, she also indicated a desire to "focus on players coming back every single day", pointing out that Xbox already has great games and a great platform, but that the team needs to "execute really well" on a four-point plan — that plan being broken down into "hardware", "content", "experience" and "services" categories.

Again, this was highlighted in that big statement at the time:

The other notable thing in this report is that, following confirmation that she's going to reevaulate Xbox's approach to exclusivity, sources at Xbox have told the outlet that Sharma has been "evaluating a range of options for Xbox exclusive games", but isn't ready to commit to anything yet. Sharma herself has already said that she doesn't want to rush anything in this regard.

So, there we go! It's all the same kind of stuff we've heard before, but it's interesting to get some new quotes in any case, and we're still very encouraged by what the new Xbox boss is saying so far. Long may it continue!
