@LogicStrikesAgain I wasn't arguing FOR more choice or options. I was pointing out that more choice and options for the sake of it is completely unnecessary. Which was obvious. So you're either playing dumb or just didn't get it.
The PS5 Pro is not good value for money. Stop trying to say that you couldn't build a PC for that money because you're comparing an individual producing a piece of hardware to a multi billion dollar company producing a piece of hardware.
Sony could easily make something far better for the price they're charging. They haven't. They've churned out a laughable "upgrade".
@Secryt You keep talking about more options and choice being better. By that rationale, a PS5 Lite would be a great thing to bring to market. Less power, worse build quality but far cheaper. That's another option right? Better for everyone!
Or a PS5 Green. One that is 90% biodegradable but costs £1500. That's another option that gives planet caring people more choice so it must be a good idea.
Or racist cover plates that cost £299. That's another option so it must be a good idea. More choice for racist people right?
Sony are behaving in exactly the same way they did when the PS3 launched. They felt untouchable so thought they could print the word PlayStation on anything, charge whatever they want and everyone should lap it up and be grateful.
Tiny mid-gen upgrades that are overpriced shouldn't be applauded.
@Shalooda You and your 'brethren' are welcome to your overpriced, underpowered Emperor's New Clothes. I'll happily stick with my base PS5 (which hasn't even been pushed yet) and wait for PS6.
@Secryt The PC and console markets are very different and you know it. Stop trying to compare apples and oranges to stand up for Sony's shilling.
Forget the PC comparison because it's irrelevant. The 'upgrade' Sony are offering is not even slightly worth the money they are asking over the base PS5.
But I'm happy for you to explain why it is worth buying a PS5 Pro. Without mentioning PCs.
And I also stand by my point of Sony milking customers dry. A poor slate of first party games, remaster after remaster that nobody wanted and expensive hardware across the board.
It's an absolutely pointless, overpriced waste of everyone's time and money. The 'improvements' being made are so negligible that I'm genuinely surprised that Sony have bothered. But this gen, they have proven that they're quite happy to fleece their loyal fans at every opportunity and pump out expensive, unnecessary hardware.
Absolutely loved the first game and can't wait for any potential sequel. I thought Microsoft would have given the team more of a chance but sales numbers on PS5 must have been very low for them to act so quickly after that launch.
I think that the next generation of consoles will be the last generation of consoles. There will never be a PS7. The next generation of Xbox will be massively AI powered and Windows based. It will be able to access Steam, Epic and PlayStation stores. Once we have the idea a set top PC under our TVs, all manufacturers like Asus will build them.
I mentioned on Push Square that I think bespoke hardware will be irrelevant after PS6 and the next Xbox. However, I think that Microsoft are in a strong position to win the next gen if they release a truly Windows based Xbox. Imagine a system that can play Steam, Xbox, Epic and PlayStation games VS PS6 tied solely to the PS Store.
After that I don't think either Sony or Microsoft will bother with actually manufacturing consoles at all. Plug and play PCs sat under a TV will be the norm.
I worked in games retail in the UK when the Xbox 360 launched and the difference in marketing is night and day. Microsoft pushed that console at every opportunity and created major buzz around every first party launch. With Series X|S there is virtually nothing done at all.
@JayJ That's a fair point. I don't see why Microsoft would have just let the IP go though. Giving away a critically acclaimed new game series like Hi-Fi Rush makes no sense to me.
I genuinely cannot remember the last time I saw an Xbox advert here in the UK. It's almost as if Microsoft have held back on marketing consoles so they can say to the world "See, we're right not to focus on consoles."
The position of Xbox in the industry means they have to market their stuff to sell it. It's not Coca-Cola or Apple FFS!
I can see this being a useful way of getting people into the Xbox ecosystem. If someone buys a Firestick or TV and sees this, they would be more inclined to buy a controller and try Game Pass than buy a console.
The average gamer wouldn't notice things like latency in the same way that enthusiasts would. But they may get hooked on a certain game/series or just fall in love with Xbox want more and buy a console.
I still strongly believe that Xbox will release (at least) another generation of hardware that will be part of a multi-pronged strategy including a handheld, PC and Cloud on anything with a screen and WiFi.
Whilst I genuinely think that Xbox 6 is the right name for the next system, I've been inspired to think of some alternatives.

@Jenkinss Peter Moore was a marketing genius. The fact that he was able to steer the ship through the RROD and there still be a brand ready for the next gen was amazing.
@ChopstickPhilly They could get away with it by including the Series S.
Xbox
Xbox 360
Xbox One
Xbox Series S
Xbox Series X
Or the rumoured new handheld.
The main reason they didn't go with "Xbox 2" back in 2005 is because they would have seemed to have been a gen behind the PlayStation 3. In fact, the original name they were going to release with was Xenon.
Ghostwire Tokyo and Hi-Fi Rush are great games and I'm still gutted about this closure. I just cannot see how they could have possibly been so unprofitable to deserve it.
@Zochmenos It's not objectively terrible. That's your opinion.
It was popular enough at the time to gain a cult following. It didn't disappear as people have been talking about the game ever since and it was one of the most requested backwards compatible games for Xbox that never made it. The characters have been heavily featured via cosplayers at gaming events ever since its release.
And finally, the game has always sold at a high price on eBay for both PS3 and Xbox 360.
@OldGamer999 The thing is, Series X is only just starting to just show its potential. The amount that console COULD actually do is staggering.
One of my best friends is a QC tech guy for Asus and he's apparently seen some of the next gen console software from Microsoft. It'll be more a PC than ever. AI huge being able to adapt in real time to improve the graphics, load times and create alternate paths/stories. Open to any hardware manufacturers.
My mood towards current gen gaming has been in a massive slump recently with Switch winding down and PlayStation showing next to nothing exciting. My PS3 has been reconnected to the TV and I've been having a brilliant time with it.
The Xbox showcase however has massively cheered me up and it's great to see such an amazing lineup appearing this year and next. There's some huge titles that will be day one purchases for me.
It sounds very promising to be honest. I have no issues with games going to PlayStation at some point because I have a Series X and PS5. But it would be nice to see Xbox really go all out to impress their core fan base and give them a reason to stick with them. And possibly entice those people who haven't upgraded from PS4/Xbox One. Especially as Sony's recent showing was so poor.
I love my Xbox because of the UI, controller and backwards compatible games that I still play to this day. I buy all multiplatform games on Xbox because of this. My PlayStation and Switch are pretty much first party machines.
I loved the first game so bought it today from CD Keys for £20 off.
One thing that really annoys me and triggers my OCD is the fact that the two games are completely separate from eachother on my owned games list. H and S. 🤬
I loved the original and played through the whole thing again recently (Rare Replay). I'm probably one of the few who thought PD Zero was great (but that could be nostalgia on my part)
I have high hopes for this and, ultimately, I just want to see great Xbox games being released. It doesn't bother me in the slightest if they ever go to PS5/6/7.
I prefer the Xbox ecosystem, UI, controller and other features, so I'll be there for as long as they make consoles.

Hi-Fi Rush is one of my favourite games ever. Ghostwire Tokyo was a really enjoyable game and the Evil Within series were amazing (terrifying) games.

Hopefully Starfield can do enough to win you over in the future.
Re: Bethesda Trademarks 'Starborn', Which Could Be The Second Expansion For Starfield
@CallMeDuraSouka So if I enjoyed it I should just shut up and play it???
Whereas people who didn't like it get to talk about it all they want.
It was review bombed before and after it launched by people who had never played it.
Fair enough if you don't like it but the way some people act, you'd think it was on par with the recent Gollum or King Kong games.
Re: Bethesda Trademarks 'Starborn', Which Could Be The Second Expansion For Starfield
I still don't understand the hate that Starfield gets. I adore it.
I assume it's mainly from people who haven't played it or are jealous that they can't play it.
