Re: MLB The Show 26 Releases This March, No Sign Of Xbox Game Pass

Runex2121

Will I buy it? Depends.

Ive loved the show for 15+ years(probably 20, I forget when it started and when the mlb2k series ended)

I feel like the last 10 years though havnt really changed much. Gameplay has been tweaked and its still solid, but the graphics are looking dated. I reluctantly bought 25, but it was more of the same. I hope to see more realistic graphics, compared to other sports titles the show feels like its several generations behind graphically.

Re: Five Things I've Learned After Using The ROG Xbox Ally X For Eight Hours Per-Day

Runex2121

I agree with everything written here. Although I dont use my ally xbox x docked, I have tested it out for that on my TV and it does office work very well.

I especially concur with the Play anywhere. I recently swapped out my choice for which system to buy DQ7 reimagined on from the switch 2 to the xbox ally x because it was play anywhere compatible. Allowing me to play on my series x or xbox ally x with no additional work is brilliant. I find myself checking every title I buy now to see if its play anywhere compatible. If it is, whether I had planned on the PS5 or switch 2, I shift it over to the Xbox ecosystem. I just wish there were more play anywhere titles available.

Re: Talking Point: Xbox Series X|S Owners, How's Your Storage Looking In 2026?

Runex2121

Ive had a series s and series x from launch day, bought a 1tb card at the same time to allow me to switch between them rather than having to juggle downloads.

Ive yet to fill it or either console. Mainly because I tend to play and delete, but also because I have a ps5 pro, switch 2, and gaming pc to spread the downloads. (And I stream a lot on handhelds like the ally xbox x and portal)

Re: Report: Xbox Working On 'Major Updates' To PC App For Next Console's Dashboard

Runex2121

The experience on my xbox ally x has really grown on me. The onboarding was terrible, but since that its been quite easy to navigate, search for things, and play pretty much anything I wanted across all the various stores with ease.

The bigger issue is where you purchase games from, as the pc store from MS is barren at best. I find myself buying most things that are not gamepass games on steam.

I would also like to see an easier background update system for 3rd party launcher games. I like to keep things updated so I can play when I want, but Ive found the steam, Gog, EA store auto updates feature is useless unless you log in to those stores.

There are some other quirks as well, but slowly its improving. All that said, It is not ready for the big show yet. Its ok on a niche handheld, but to put it on the flagship console would be ill advised until they can improve the overall experience. Its on the right track though.

Re: As Forza Motorsport Winds Down, Gran Turismo Is Experiencing A 'Phenomenon' At PlayStation

Runex2121

GT games always sell better and have longer tails. Never understood why as they tend to be boring as hell(the cafe plus jazz music puts me out like a light in gt7), but such is the way.

I dont like the controls either, far too stiff for a game. GT7 isnt bad, but id hardly call it good either.

I kinda wish it would tank to make them rethink it a bit, as success will just lead to more of the same.

Re: Blizzard President: Microsoft Expects High Standards, But We Feel 'Valued' In The Xbox Portfolio

Runex2121

@Tasuki I think the best we could hope for would be a wow experience on console. The end game is too complicated for a controller at this point, as are the day to days.(I havent played WoW since the burning crusade, so im very dated, but back then every role had to know every part of their build and be able to use them at the right time on the right people/opponent.)

They would have to tighten it up a bit to make it more like FFXIV, but even that is a bit too convoluted if you ask me.

The best path would be to either do what is suggested and make a version of classic that is customized from top to bottom for a controller or just make a new WoW version separate from the PC version built from the ground up with controller in mind.

Re: Xbox Series X|S Had No Black Friday Deals, So They Lost To A Console We've Never Heard Of (US)

Runex2121

@Brigurugi I loved the device. The voice controls for the tv were new at the time, it helped with things like skype when I lived 8000+ miles from my family, and some of the games were truly innovative. Additionally, for dance games my children like(d) it was infinitely better than having phones. I dont even buy motion games for my kids now.

Im not saying it was for everyone, but for me it was a huge win that I was very sad to see go. Wish they would remake it as an optional accessory for current consoles.

Re: Xbox Series X|S Had No Black Friday Deals, So They Lost To A Console We've Never Heard Of (US)

Runex2121

The playground has been promoted pretty heavily here in the us on amazon for over a year.

Its a neat little device for parents with small children. (Under 10)

I honestly miss the kinect days, loved that device.

As for the x|s, ms has all but given up on hardware this gen, so not surprised. Low inventory, raised prices, bo discounts on bf, cross plat games. They may be saying they are focused on hardware, but there actions are far more telling.

Re: ROG Xbox Ally Adds Console-Like Optimisation Feature For 40+ Games, With More Joining Soon

Runex2121

I was able to use this after a late night update triggered for the armory crate.

I am not sure if its supposed to be learning or adjusting as it goes, but I was not impressed with the results on oblivion, gears, or indiana.

All 3 ran well below my expectations, usually in the sub 30fps on lower settings. This on my xbox ally x, which I am used to getting above 60 at sometimes up to ultra settings depending on the game.

I am sure the goal with these is probably to optimize battery, but I only play in 1-2 hour blocks at most, so usually leave it at 25w turbo mode. I dont mind the FPS drops, but the fidelity being noticeably worse was a turn off. Hopefully I am just using it wrong

Re: Poll: Which Is Your Favourite Xbox 360 Launch Title?

Runex2121

@OldGamer999 Im in the US so best buy was my location. Preorders didnt mean a thing near me, so i was up and in line from about 11pm the night before. Wound up as the last person to get one that morning, only to have it RR a week later. (Thankfully msft had a very short turn around and i was console less for all of a week)

Id say good memories, but it was cold and miserable. I learned that day that patience is more important and have never waited in line since.

Re: Poll: How Important Is The Xbox Play Anywhere Program To You?

Runex2121

If you had asked me 2 months ago id have said it meant nothing.

The ally xbox x has changed that to a mist have.

Still some issues of course, primarily with the xbox store not having games at all, but I pretty much wont buy a title now unless its play anywhere since I dont really pc game, but i love my new handheld. Being able to carry over without any issues from the portable to the series x|s is a huge quality of life improvement. Almost on par with quick resuming multiple games.

Re: The ROG Xbox Ally's Dashboard Will Soon Be Available On Standard Windows PCs

Runex2121

Hmm, hopefully this only increases the feedback and improvements. Its definately nice on my ally xbox x, but there are still a lot of optimizations it can have, especially related to updates, that I can see. (And make a default button on the dashboard for xbox remote play....)

That said, in the month and change ive had it its become like second nature to use and by default, the xbox ally x has become my go to over the switch 2 and portal.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade November's Xbox Partner Preview Event?

Runex2121

I thought it was pretty good and I typically dislike these types of shows.

While nothing was a must buy to me, there were several games that piqued my interest and a few more that were gamepass games. (Though my gpu will expire in feb and ive no plan to renew) added bonus is that all were play anywhere meaning i can play them on my xbox ally x and series x without double purchasing.

All in all, a solid b. A couple of announcements from an a

Re: ASUS Announces Big Week Of ROG Xbox Ally Updates, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Runex2121

I am probably in the minority, but I really enjoy updates on any platform and with my xbox ally x I check daily all areas for updates to both the device and the games. (They make it a little complicated for updates on the platform, since you have to check steam for steam game updates, the library for MS game/app updates, Armory Crate for device and Asus updates, and windows update for windows updates. Even with auto update turned on, it sometimes wont trigger every update until you turn on the game)

Re: A Month Later, The ROG Xbox Ally X Has Totally Changed My Gaming Habits

Runex2121

Good article and I agree. Ive enjoyed mine so far, having put many hours into it.

Was a bumpy start with onboarding, then reonboarding when i upgraded to a 4tb ssd. But generally, been very solid once I got used to the ux.

Being able to play steam games, cloud games, ea games, play anywhere games, and remote play all at once is really nice. Ive been tapping into the steam games i bought vut never bothered with on the steamdeck and playing bf6(which runs well) and oblivion remaster(also runs well)

Cant wait to see how the ux evolves over time as well.

Re: Halo Infinite's Final Major Content Update Arrives This Month

Runex2121

Im kinda happy to see this one sunset a bit. The campaign just didnt click with me and the mp was not as fun as halo 5s imo.

It wasnt a bad game by any means, but it ranks at the bottom of the haloverse to me.

Now they can focus on the new titles, which hopefully includes another halo game with pve embedded into the pvp. (Its been a while, so so I forget which halo had the bosses and enemies as part of mp, but I really enjoyed those fights)

Re: Rumour: Halo 2 & 3 Remakes Are Supposedly Coming After Halo: Campaign Evolved

Runex2121

@nomither6

Dead serious though. Halo 1 has a weak campaign compared to the others, primarily due to age. The levels are bloated and large, while also requiring a not so insignificant amount of backtracking. The dialogue is cheesy b camp at best, and generally speaking, outside of the core mechanics, which are also improved on in each sequal, there isnt a lot going for it.

I am really hopeful that they fix all the levels in the remake to adjust the flow. (and hopefully clean up the dialogue as well)

Re: Huge Xbox Report Details 'Ambitious' Next-Gen Console With Free Online Play

Runex2121

@Neither_scene While not something with exclusives, if they could get it reasonably priced for families out there entering the market for gaming, it could be a hit.

Biggest concern I have with the current market is that with prices now starting at around $500 for a minimum entry point to game, for a large percentage of people it's just no longer viable.

Gaming is a hobby for all people, not just the rich. And while I am thankfully able to support the hobby without any issues, it would have been much more challenging in my youth. There is a large percentage of people out there who can only afford 1 console anyway, and with current trends, maybe not even one anymore.

Re: Huge Xbox Report Details 'Ambitious' Next-Gen Console With Free Online Play

Runex2121

Well, I expect the console to cost 2k so free online is expected to go along with the $50 a month gamepass sub.(future pricing)

Jokes aside, I do fully expect the console hybrid to cost 1200-1500. If nothing else, the ally x has taught is people will pay. (I did)

The problem is, gaming always needed affordability. If Sony, MS, and Nintendo are all essentially opting out of an affordable option, will someone else step in? The market is screaming for a $200-$250 console that plays bespoke games. (I guess the series s used to fill that role, but it was cross marketed with the x)

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About Halo: Campaign Evolved Launching Day One On PS5?

Runex2121

I dont mind it at all. I have never been one for console wars, so spreading the love across all platforms is a good thing. I buy all consoles, so now I can buy games for whichever platform I feel best suites that game.

I think it also forces platform makers to prioritize unique features in hardware and software to sell, which is pro consumer. (ie. Sony's controllers this time are amazing, but the PS5 lacks the multigame resume feature of the xbox which is huge for me)
