Re: Sony Has Approached Subscriptions 'Healthier' Than Xbox, Says Former PlayStation Boss

Runex2121

Sonys approach has me ready to cancel ps premium though where i have no qualms paying for gamepass ultimate.

Value prop is important and as I dont play games online, there really isnt much for me to continue paying for ps plus in any variant. Only reason ive kept it is because they keep discounting it massively when i dont resub and let it lapse. Even that may not be enough this year.

Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying The 2025 Xbox Handheld From ASUS?

Runex2121

Likely, but depends on cost and function. I sold my steamdeck off because it sucked at gamepass and xbox remote play as well as having no need for steam itself.

I have a portal and switch oled(and switch 2 on the way) which i love.

So if its under $800 ill probably pull the trigger, if its over though itll need to make up the value gap for me to consider it.

Re: 'Retro Classics' Raises Questions About The Future Of Xbox Backwards Compatibility

Runex2121

Lets be honest here, within a generation or two, physical will be gone and only digital will remain.

With streaming improving rapidly and high speed internet connections the norm now, it seems like the only real way to preserve generational changes is going to be via streaming. Especially if architecture changes significantly.

So while we may not like it, I think its more than reasonable to assume in 15 years that streaming will be the primary if not only mode of playing older games on newer consoles.

Re: Xbox Is Seemingly Making Preparations For Its 2025 Handheld Device

Runex2121

Unless its over $800, im likely going to pick it up. (Got 2 switch 2s inbound for me and my daughter)

Need a replacement for the dead weight....err...steamdeck i recently sold. This just has 2 other requirements for me. Needs to be more ergonomic than the deck and needs seemless gamepass streaming. Local and pc features are irrelevant to me.(though arent a negative either)

Re: Talking Point: Will Xbox Game Pass Get A Price Increase This Year?

Runex2121

Ive been a staunch xbox supporter since day 1, never hesitated to sub for gp ultimate, and with points only pay for 4 months a year.

Income is not an issue either as $20, $30, even $50 or more is fine.

That said, I am using my xbox ecosystem less and less now and generally speaking, am playing games less due to how much time I have available. If they raise it again I may actually finally deem it not worth my money given how much I play. (And make no mistake, if time wasnt a factor itd be worth way more given the value provided)

The same applies to ps+ as well. (NSO has to stay for the kids and its dirt cheap anyway)

So hopefully they dont raise it....

Re: Xbox Cloud Gaming Arrives On LG TVs With New Dedicated App

Runex2121

All 3 of my LG OLED TVs are compatible with this. I took a spin yesterday on each to test it out and it was not bad. I have great internet, buy I was worried that LG may have skimped on the wifi adapter. In my tests atleast all 3 played quite well, with the caveat that the games look noticably worse than downloaded versions on these tvs. (Likely resolution as I think xcloud maxes at 1080p, maybe even 720. It looked a lot granier and you lose the effects of the contrast)

Re: Xbox Adds Multiple Highly-Requested Features In April 2025 Update

Runex2121

Does removing the ability to stream via app apply to remote play as well?

Seems like it would be a very clunky solution for those on portables just wanting it to play. One of the reasons the steam deck is so bad at remote play is that you need to config it all to boot from the site. Its tedious and even after setup, is a clunky solution. (I used xbplay before finally dumping my steam deck due to never using it)

I just want it to work. No fiddling. This seems like the opposite direction.

Hoping Im wrong ofcourse.

Re: Xbox Cloud Gaming Handheld Smashes Kickstarter Target By Over $80K

Runex2121

I like the direction this is going. I love my portal and switch, but just dumped my steam deck because I just didnt use it. (Too bulky)

Been eying the upcoming potential asus xbox hand held but would prefer it be stream only to shave off heft.

Will probably still wait out that announcement, but going to leave this as a strong option as well.

Re: Former Xbox Exec Throws Shade At Switch 2, Says It's A 'Hard Pass'

Runex2121

@CallMeDuraSouka Id take the switch 2 over the steam deck anyday. I got a 512gb steam deck at launch, it just sits there and even before it sat there it was essentially relegated to being a remote play device for xbox.

Its too bulky and hot. I dont want to have to tinker to optimize things, just want them to work.

As such, I play my portal and switch 1 infinitely more. The switch 2 looks nice and simple, light, and likely not hot.

$500 is fine for a device like this. That said, if the tariffs make it $650 then id have an issue. The games are definately overpriced though.

Re: Xbox Handheld Seemingly Revealed By ASUS In New Teaser Trailer

Runex2121

Already put my 512gb steamdeck up for sale in anticipation of this. My steamdeck is basically an xbox streaming device, but not a very good one.

Make it native and remove all the customization and im sold. Just hope its less that $699. Not sure how id feel paying over that for what will be a streaming box like my portal.

Re: Talking Point: If The Next-Gen Xbox Is More 'PC-Like', Will You Still Buy It?

Runex2121

Ive been an xbox person since the og release day 1. (Though a gamer much longer)

Saying that, I dont like pc gaming all that much despite having a decent rig. For me to buy an xbox that is more pc like they need to remember the golden console rule. Keep it insanely simple. If i need to think everytime i turn it in i dont want it. If i have to press more than a couple buttons to get inti a game i dont want it. If i need to adjust settings everytime i play a new game i dont want it.

Re: Five Things An Xbox Handheld Needs To Include When It Releases

Runex2121

@TheGameThrifter

Depends on how its done. Currently no pc handheld has the level of integration that the ps portal has. If they give it a custom interface that taps right into remote play or gp without having to fiddle around and install or customize things, it could be a winner.

Remember that many of us out there dont want to do anything other than turn on the platform and play. I can do it, but I dont want to. My steam deck is a paperweight because i have to click into things. My portal is press n go.

Re: Five Things An Xbox Handheld Needs To Include When It Releases

Runex2121

Agree with all except the first. Personally I want it to be a streaming device and not a hardware on device platform, though I know phil has said he must have that as a feature.

As such though, im hoping they release a switch level powered device with a focus on streaming which allows a long battery life, a very lightweight design, and affordability.

Re: Xbox Handheld: Everything We Know So Far, Including The Latest Rumours

Runex2121

So much reference to the steam deck in the comments here. As a gamer, A multiplatform owner(Nintendo, Sony, MSFT, PC, Steamdeck, etc..) the steamdeck has probably gotten the least amount of use. Its akward and bulky. Battery life is poor and the screen subpar compared to alternatives. My PS portal gets far more use, as does my switch oled.

I was an early adopter to the steamdeck and love what its done for the segment, but if thats the gold standard for people in handhelds, we have a lot of improvement to go before its really ready for mainstream.

Re: Poll: How Many Xbox Games Have You Actually Bought In 2024?

Runex2121

Far too many for what I actually have time to play. Over 10 titles, but I also have Game Pass Ultimate, so factor in those games too and Its too much. I also picked up 26 full length PS5 games, and a dozen switch games. (and PC games for my deck as well) All Digital.

New Year Resolution for 2025 is to buy only games I have time for, so under 10 across all platforms.....

Re: Talking Point: Next Year Marks A Decade Since Xbox's Genius Backwards Compatibility Program

Runex2121

@shoeses I think licensing had far more to do with what they could do as opposed to the tech. Remember this program required them to essentially patch a game, meaning they did need the consent to do each title.

And for me, while Backwards compat was definately huge for last gen, this gen is the autoresume feature(I forget the buzz word MS used). I like to play 4-6 games simultaneously, so being able to seamlessly hop in and out of them is such a time saving endeavor. My PS5 Pro only allows 1 game to be resumed, and its painfully noticeable to me.

Re: Xbox Exec Appearing At 'Future Of Gaming Handhelds' Panel Next Month

Runex2121

Couple quick thoughts here.

1. Really hoping for an xbox handheld.
2. Steam OS is overrated. Its not terrible, but i much prefer the os on both xbox and ps. Even the switches os is better.

Caveat to 1 is that I want a streaming only device, or atleast a lightweight handheld. Ive got a steamdeck, portal, and a couple switches and i never touch my steamdeck. Its setup as an xbox streaming device, but the hardware and software are just too bulky. If they can make it lighter and thinner, im all game. I think the streaming games you own is really a precurser to this. If our entire libraries can be streamed via xcloud, then there really isnt a need for a bulky device.
