Rumour: Halo Remake To Feature 'Modern Mechanics', Could Be Announced This Month

In recent months, we've heard little bits and pieces about a Halo: Combat Evolved remake potentially coming to Xbox next year - and now some new information has been shared that hints at the sorts of changes we can expect Halo Studios to make with its new version of the original Halo.

Twitter account Halo Leaks — a source that's been accurate about Halo info in the past — claims they can "definitely confirm the Halo CE Remake will have sprint and 'modern gameplay mechanics'". The account didn't go into any more detail about what those modern gameplay mechanics will consist of, but they seem confident of their existence.

As you can see above, the account also mentions that the gameplay will be "similar" to an upcoming Halo multiplayer project - but it's less confident on that and only claims that they're "of the belief" that this will be the case. All we know for sure right now is that Halo Studios has multiple projects in the works.

So, if this is true, when can we expect to hear about it in an official capacity? Well, while the two aren't directly linked, we're starting to see even more teases for the Halo World Championships this month as well. Following recent confirmation that the team will be there to "share more about what we've been working on", Master Chief voice actor Steve Downes has now teased that "big news" is coming at the event - which takes place October 24-25 in Seattle.

We'll keep you updated on everything coming out of the Halo World Champs later this month, and despite nothing official coming from Microsoft just yet, it's sounding increasingly likely that we'll hear about a new Halo project — potentially this Combat Evolved remake — in just over a week's time.
