Re: Poll: What Are Your Plans For Xbox Game Pass After This Week's News?

MaseSco

As someone who hasn't had XGP in around two years, this isn't enticing me to join - it's pushing me further away. Didn't Microsoft just announce huge profits?
I'd join XGP if it was a viable option, but it isn't for me.

I play online with friends each week but I'm staying on PC, at least that's still free!

Re: Talking Point: Is Forza Horizon About To Become Xbox's Main Forza Franchise?

MaseSco

I loved FM4, my first Xbox racer. I was very late to the FM7 party but it was/is really good. I've played FM8 recently & it's not bad. It has clearly tried to follow GT7, but they both botched the SP. I don't play these games online so the SP needs to be good and it's quite barebones. GT Sport was barebones on launch, but that game was stacked with classic SP cups after 2-3 years. FM has always had a decent fan base, the only thing that makes sense is Sony told MS they'll release GT on Xbox.

Re: Talking Point: Xbox Fans, How Are You Getting On With Microsoft Rewards In 2025?

MaseSco

For someone who doesn't have GamePass, I find it good. I'm still racking up 2-3K points a month which is quite steady while I clear my monster backlog.
I do really miss the daily achievement though as that proved quite useful but overall I'm quite happy with it. It's free stuff at the end of the day and Sony/Nintendo (or any other company) don't offer anything like it, so I'll always be grateful for what they offer in this regard.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Feel You've Had Value For Money With Your Xbox Series X|S?

MaseSco

@PlatinumMikey yeah, it really is. PC is getting really expensive, I don't think I would build one now. Thankfully I built mine literally just before the pandemic when prices were really good. It's been crazy since then.

For those sticking with console, I hope MS makes one more because the way PS consoles are evolving the 6 will be the size of a TV 🤣

Re: Talking Point: Do You Feel You've Had Value For Money With Your Xbox Series X|S?

MaseSco

@PlatinumMikey yeah, I'll stay with PC. I've built a solid library over the last 15 years with MS/Steam so I've no reason to get a PS console.

The Xbox PC app is OK though, needs a bit of work but I think MS is getting there with it.

My decision hasn't even been influenced by GamePass. I haven't had it for 2 years at this point? It's something I don't need a this point, my backlog is a good substitute 😂

Re: Talking Point: Do You Feel You've Had Value For Money With Your Xbox Series X|S?

MaseSco

I came back to Xbox with a Series S because my PS4 Pro was soo loud. The XSS was whisper quiet and I had built a good digital library from the 360 Games w/ Gold, so that kept me busy for the most part.
Once I had enough MS points, I traded up to the XSX solely for the disc drive and a little extra power.
I regret nothing. I love my Xbox. More than happy to leave my PS library behind. The back compatibility is so good & anything the XSX can't run, still have a 360 at the ready.
I also really like the Play Anywhere feature.

I do hope MS continues to make consoles, but I doubt they will.

Re: EA Cuts Hundreds Of Jobs, Respawn Announces Two Cancelled Games

MaseSco

Interesting. I'm not sure what people see in the Star Wars Jedi games. I played 50-60% of Fallen Order & I found it a slog to get as far as I did. It just seemed super bloated for no real reason. I won't buy another SWJ title.
I hope Titanfall 3 will see the light of day, but otherwise there's nothing I play from this studio.

Re: Microsoft Has Reportedly Discussed Acquiring IP From Ubisoft

MaseSco

EA probably want The Crew. They have a habit of shutting down racers. I could also see them picking up Assassins Creed & turning it into a live service.

Microsoft picking up Far Cry & letting Bethesda loose on it to turn it into a tropical Fallout, then also the Tom Clancy series & letting Activision Codify it.

But the one I really want is Microsoft to take Driver and give it Turn 10 or Playground. Remasters of the first two & also San Fran.

Re: Talking Point: When Did You First Get Introduced To The World Of Xbox?

MaseSco

For me it was around 2011 and the Xbox 360. I played Ultimate MvC3 & that swung it for me. I was going to get a PS3 at launch but the cost put me off. I went back to Sony for the PS4 Pro (skipped Xbone) and the noise it generated made me quit Sony for the Series S (now X). Never getting another PlayStation as I'm happy with PC, Nintendo & Xbox.
I didn't really enjoy the PS exclusives (GT Sport/7 (loved 3-4), InFamous, TLoU) so I don't feel I'm missing anything especially since Sony are now porting to Steam.

Re: Xbox Series X|S Console Sales In Europe Dropped By Almost 50% In 2024

MaseSco

Not surprised, I don't see any marketing from Xbox at all. I do see Nintendo and PlayStation stuff regularly though.
Also, there's so little exclusive titles on Xbox X|S and not really any new ones besides Halo Infinite & Indy. A Gears remaster trilogy would be nice, but this is probably being prepped for PC/PlayStation release instead.

Re: Xbox User Insists Some Owned Games Are Being Hidden From Players' Libraries

MaseSco

100% agree.
I've some Xbox 360 games that don't show up on Series X like Simpsons arcade, Transformers WFC, F1 2014, Street Fighter 3,
Even on PC I have games that come and go. Injustice 2 & Tomb Raider recent trilogy appear/disappear when they please. I also hate updates on PC as I need to re-download the entire game. Only on Microsoft 😂

Re: Talking Point: What Convinced You To Pick Xbox In The First Place?

MaseSco

I was always Sega, then PS 1/2. Held off on PS3 because of cost. A few people I knew had a 360 & were singing its praises so I got one. Then a PS4 since MS ruined the One launch. Dived back in with a Series S (now X) solely for Forza 7 & also because I don't rate Sony exclusives. Infamous is their only decent one.

Re: Former Microsoft Exec Gives 'Two Reasons' Why Xbox Closed Bethesda Teams

MaseSco

I already have the Call of Duty games I wanted play. The most recent being WWII. I'm not likely to pick up another CoD title unless it's Infinite Warfare 2, which I don't think they'll make. It's a shame because Infinite was a great FPS, under any other name this would have been adored but as a CoD title it never stood a chance.

Re: Xbox Studio Shutdowns Are A 'F***ing Gut Stab', Says Arkane Lyon Boss

MaseSco

I feel that the current trend of game making is fatally flawed and poor. I'm actually put off by new games because they're so huge (map wise). AC Syndicate is a big map but that borders on too much for me. I really think that getting bigger maps each time is not a good model & only drags dev time further along. I'd rather the maps be smaller but more focused. Just because we can build & create huge worlds doesn't mean we should.
I miss games like Wet, Remember Me, Fallout 3, Arkham City/Origins & RDR 1 in terms of gameplay & sizes. Great games aren't always sprawling maps & aren't reliant on collectibles to get around.

Re: Rumour: Xbox Currently 'Formulating Plans' To Fast-Track Next Fallout Game

MaseSco

Fallout 3 Remastered & New Vegas Remastered would be a low cost quick return. Doing this frees both from PS3 hardware which allows PS players to enjoy them better than streaming them. It also allows a new audience to see them in a better light and a few QoL upgrades across all platforms & drops some money in the bank at the same time.
