Talking Point: Would You Play As Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Remake?

For a while now, we've been hearing that an Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remake is in the works — since July 2023 in fact — and today, new hints from one of the game's voice actors point towards this project still being a thing. While these hints are vague for now and nothing has been confirmed by Ubisoft, we want to know if you'd actually play a Black Flag remake here in 2025.

Here's that hint, by the way:

At this point, AC4 is almost 12 years old, and some elements of the Xbox 360 / Xbox One title could certainly do with updating. However, we still think this is one of the very best Assassin's Creed games in the franchise's entire history - and we'd absolutely be up for taking to the high seas for some digital piracy once again in a fresh remake.

Something about how the team at Ubisoft combined traditional AC elements with a much broader, more colourful open world was a real blast. We didn't 100% love the ship combat especially in the late game, but Black Flag has a unique personality to it and we think modern hardware could really make the game shine.

New versions of the AC engine would also help proceedings. This year's Assassin's Creed Shadows contains a massive tech upgrade over 2023's Mirage which was still a cross-gen title - if a potential Black Flag remake used that engine it would definitely feel a whole lore more modern here in 2025. We'd be up for that... imagine those deep blue seas powered by Xbox Series X|S!

If this all comes to fruition, would you play a Black Flag remake? Get talking to us about this prospect down below.
