A cancelled Capcom level from the team's 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4 has surfaced online in recent days, showcasing an incomplete 'Chapter 0' from the acclaimed title that was ultimately removed from the final product.
You can see evidence of this cancelled mission in the YouTube video up above, where channel Thekempy explores the remains of the level by restoring key files within the PC version of the game. Cutscenes and the like are absent, but the video does its best to show how the level would play out and explain some of its key goals prior to being removed from the remake.

What's interesting is that despite this being cut and the remaining files incomplete, Capcom did actually show bits of this level in some of its pre-release trailers. Resident Evil 4 Remake's story trailer from October 2022 showcases glimpses of this Ashley-led mission, while the game's March 2023 release obviously pulled the level entirely. It's an interesting case of how close to the wire game dev can be at times.
In the end, we don't think the game suffered much at all from this being cut — heck, we gave Capcom's RE4 Remake a 10/10 score three years ago now. Still, we'd have liked to see this as a bonus mission or something — more Resi 4 in any fashion is only a good thing!
