I think the problem isn't so much the machine(s), but the fact that last gen has tethered on to this gen for so long. That said, this is to be expected when we're moving to a more organic future where compatibility is key. I can't wait to see what comes next and I'll reiterate what I've always said on the matter - from the bits we've learned about the next Xbox so far, I think it's going to be a very defining moment for the brand.
I also think next gen onwards will be interesting given all the barrier removals (cross play, cross save, multi-plat movements etc...) I'm excited.
@Project13 Completely missing the point made, but okay...
Nice to see you lack any kind of empathy for those who have lost their livelihood as long as you GeT tO pLaY GaMeS. I sincerely hope that should your life take a turn for the worse you're greeted with the same lack of empathy.
I fully understood your post, and I fully understood the excerpt I highlighted in my response to it. I've had plenty of issues in life my friend. Would I expect people that don't even know me to feel sorry for me? Not at all. Would it have made the slightest bit of difference if they did? Not at all.
It'd be very strange IMO if I loaded up my console and sat there feeling bad for people I've never met, rather than just play games. No need to get pressed about it bud. That's just how I feel, and I could stake my life that the vast majority of people feel or act the same way. The situation around layoffs is sad, sure, but it is what it is. Life goes on...
Anyway, I think we're veering off topic so I'll leave that there. Have a good day.
@Project13 Satya Nadella and his executives have shown they care about as much about Xbox gamers and their libraries as they do their employees and their mortgages. You don't matter, so best get used to that idea.
To be fair, I load up my games on an evening and don't think about Satya or his employees (or ex employees) for a single second. I boot up a game and I play it...
I also reckon it's a new controller with haptics and gyro, or at least one or the other. It'd be very anti-climactic for it just to be a reskinned controller lol. It's also interesting that this has popped up just as the design lab came back online. Perhaps MS is unveiling one too at GC? With the design lab taken offline to implement the change to their lineup?
@RZ-Atom I'd strongly disagree. I think it's nice to see staff being transparent. That's just me though. That said, I don't think there was anything derogative about the comment - it's just that in comparison, a lot of the games in the list are (you could say) filler, to a degree?
@RZ-Atom Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid absolutely sucked IMO. It was far too light in content. As for not allowing opinions on news articles, it's a great way for communities to come together to discuss the material. Opinions and chatter has always been the case; forums, chatrooms, etc... I don't see the format going away any time soon.
I get almost all of the titles here, but FF7 feels little out of place. It's huge news for sure, and whilst I love FF, having screen time for a several year-old game is daft IMO.
@Aniscape I know right? I think it's quite fitting too, given that Fable was an OG Xbox game as well. I cant wait. I cant believe how quick this year is flying by.
@HardRockGamer Predator would be amazing to be fair. That'd actually work better than Terminator. Man, I need to rewatch the Pred movies before I get into that new show.
@Markatron84 Took me a while to see that too when you pointed that out, but man, I wouldn't personally be doing a comparison like this if I was them :/
@Lup Lmao! I can totally relate to that. I don't even go to the gym, I tried those in-house HiiTs from YouTube. Never again O_o I was walking like John Wayne.
@Fiendish-Beaver Perhaps. That said, I think when MS have enough games under its belt to offer a sub service (Game Pass 1P) which is Game Pass but only with MS games, we might see it branch out to Ninty too.
@Kezelpaso Mate... Thanks! I've been looking at the truck, the buildings, the textures, and I thought I was going mad lol! I can see what you've pointed out now though, some shadows for the shrubs and a few extra conifers Now I truly feel like I'm living in the current gen!
@cragis0001 I agree. I think they're either looking at (or have found) a better way to make money moving to next gen, or at least have an idea of how to achieve financial success without being tethered to rules and boundaries that have been set in stone since the 90s.
@Fiendish-Beaver I'm sure there's a story in my head somewhere about Game Pass via a web surfer being blocked? Or was that related to the whole mobile market fiasco?
@Fiendish-Beaver You're right in regards to Sony having their hands tied. I'm not sure how much power they have in regards to other platforms. For instance, I'm not sure if they can say "we're releasing this on Steam, but these platforms with access to Steam are not allowed to buy it". I don't get the technical behind the veil, so to speak.
Will they cut off a platform that already has access though, whilst still releasing everywhere else? I aint so sure they would. It just wouldn't make much sense to me for them to do that, when the option is already there and the port process is suggested to be super easy work if the next Xbox has the ability to play PC games.
@Elbow That's why I'm getting confused then, because the host is the same. Thanks man. Yeah I loved that guy's energy. He was either severely jet lagged, or severely passionate lol.
@TrollOfWar You're a gem mate. Thanks! I might actually pick up MP3 today as that's the only one I never played (I can't remember why) and then work back to 2 then 1.
@cragis0001 No me either, but I do think next gen will be one that either moves a lot of the barriers, or removes some. I could be wrong but given all the changes in the industry we've seen as of late, I do think next gen will be very different to what came before.
@HardRockGamer I'm really looking forward to Isolation 2. They nailed the vibe with Isolation. That said, I'd absolutely welcome the same sort of vibe with, say, Terminator. Terminator Isolation (set in a small town or somewhere desolate) would be creepy as hell so long as they channel the identity of the very first movie.
Good! Outbreak is a rotten series that has next to nothing going for it. Games like this that manipulate the system are long overdue a slap. Seems to me that MS (between this news and the news of a new category in the hub) are working on making some solid changes to the storefront. Next, they need to work on store reviews
@Gabrie Ugh I hate that sort of thing haha, unless it actually pays to die over and over (like in Rogue Legacy) but dying to restart is just like, man... hella frustrating.
@Fiendish-Beaver I disagree. I think Sony, as the dominant platform, would be developing to sustain their income between their own base and the PC base - but they're not. They need as much of an audience as possible to bring home the bacon given the cost of the market. That said though, I do think HD2 will give them a direct peek into how worthwhile the Xbox market is.
Not that it would matter to them because if next gen rumours are true, we will have the ability to play their games nonetheless via (say) Steam or stream. It's going to be a fascinating gen imo.
you are easily satisfied, and I am harder to please... 😉

Re: Five Games Are Leaving Xbox Game Pass In Late August 2025
Sea of Stars was outstanding. I really hope they crack on with a sequel because the gameplay, the story, and the visuals on that, was amazing.
