We're all set for Xbox's big worldwide reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 during Gamescom Opening Night Live next week, but Switch 2 players probably shouldn't get their hopes up for much just yet. According to the ever-reliable billbil-kun, Microsoft's upcoming Call of Duty title won't be releasing on Nintendo's hybrid console - at least for its day one launch.
Posting over at Dealabs, the insider claims that Xbox HQ has no plans to drop Black Ops 7 onto Nintendo Switch 2 at launch this year. The report says that "it remains unclear whether Activision plans a future port to the new console", but for now, no Switch 2 version has been uncovered during the site's investigations regarding this year's Call of Duty.
"We can also confirm that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will not be available on Nintendo Switch 2 when it launches this year. However, it remains unclear whether Activision plans a future port to the new console."
Given the close proximity to Nintendo's recent console launch, and the tight schedules Xbox is on to release CoD every single year, this probably shouldn't come as a huge surprise right now. Still, the Activision team confirmed back in June that it is "committed to getting the franchise on Switch", so it's almost certainly a question of when rather than if for Call of Duty returning to Nintendo consoles.
In terms of what else billbil-kun has discovered about BO7 here, well, a physical version is apparently coming for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S at a cost of €80 - while a November 14th release date has also been corroborated by Dealabs; something we heard about from fellow leaker TheGhostOfHope last month.
