It's now been a week since the long-awaited Mafia: The Old Country made its debut on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, as well as PS5 and PC, and a new analysis suggests it's enjoyed a "strong" start in terms of sales so far.
This is coming from Video Game Insights (by Sensor Tower), which has revealed that Mafia: The Old Country sold 800,000 units in its first five days on sale, with 48% of those being for PlayStation and around 33% on Steam. If that data is correct, it'd suggest around 20% of sales have been for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S so far.
Here's what the firm had to say:
"Hangar 13’s latest entry in the Mafia franchise has enjoyed a strong launch, selling 800,000 units across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox in its first four days. PlayStation leads the way with around 48% of total sales, while Steam contributes roughly one-third of the total. The game’s reception shows that both PC and console audiences have embraced the title, making for a successful multi-platform debut."
In conclusion, Video Game Insights says these figures "validate the studio’s choice to deliver a linear, narrative-driven experience with cinematic presentation", but suggests that "the stronger performance on PlayStation may reflect the platform’s strategic alignment with story-focused single-player games".
