Rolling Stone's Top 25 Games Of 2025 Includes Two Xbox First-Party Titles

We recently mentioned how three Xbox first-party games had made the cut in the AP's top 10 releases of 2025, and now we've got another list from Rolling Stone — a top 25 of 2025 roundup — that includes two Xbox first-party titles in theirs.

The two games are Ninja Gaiden 4 and South of Midnight, which finish in the #16 and #11 spots respectively. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 takes the #1 spot to the surprise of very few!

Here's the full top 25:

  1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
  2. Hades 2
  3. Donkey Kong Bananza
  4. Dispatch
  5. Ghost of Yotei
  6. Blue Prince
  7. The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy
  8. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach
  9. Ball x Pit
  10. ARC Raiders
  11. South of Midnight
  12. Hollow Knight: Silksong
  13. Mario Kart World
  14. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance
  15. Battlefield 6
  16. Ninja Gaiden 4
  17. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
  18. Absolum
  19. Despelote
  20. The Séance of Blake Manor
  21. Split Fiction
  22. Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector
  23. Rematch
  24. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles
  25. Silent Hill F

Looking at this list, it's perhaps surprising that the likes of Split Fiction and Hollow Knight: Silksong are so low, while there's no place for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Monster Hunter Wilds or a large array of Xbox first-party games like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and DOOM: The Dark Ages.

Still, that's the beauty with stuff like this - you never know what you're going to get! We're just glad to see Ninja Gaiden 4 and South of Midnight getting their flowers, especially in a year that's delivered so many Game of the Year candidates.
