Update []: There's a new interview on StarWars.com if you want to know more!
Original Story: Well, well, well! The Game Awards 2025 was kicked off today with the reveal of Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, developed by the little-known Arcanaut Studios and currently in development for "PC and consoles".
It's described as a spiritual successor to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and it's being led by the game designer on that title (in addition to the Mass Effect trilogy), Casey Hudson.
All signs point to this one being quite a way off, but we're loving what we're hearing so far. You can check out the first details down below, along with the teaser trailer up above.
"Developed by Arcanaut Studios in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is a new single-player narrative-driven action RPG and spiritual successor to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Led by Casey Hudson, Game director of the original Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect trilogy, the team of veteran game developers and storytellers at Arcanaut Studios is crafting an epic interactive adventure across a galaxy on the brink of rebirth where every decision shapes your path towards light or darkness."

I'm in. Loved old Republic back in the day.
So were the leaks about the remakes wrong?
Hopefully Expedition 33 made everyone realize there's still room for old schools type RPGs and this leans into it.
If it is another Souls-like, or generic action RPG, I'm out.
Definitely the most exciting thing to come out of tonight's showing. The Old Republic era is my favorite time period in the SW universe and I'm psyched to be returning to it again. Even if it's an all new story with new characters, hopefully we'll see little nods and references to the KOTOR titles that maintain a sense of continuity with the events of the earlier games.
