Re: Rumour: Xbox Releasing Acclaimed First-Party Title On 'Competitor System' In 2024

InheritNegative

@Phantasystar77 My knee jerk reaction is about the same as yours. As an Xbox supporter I continue to feel disenchanted by their nice guy strategy. Not at first, but lately, I’m not feeling particularly good about it. Public perception is very important and I don’t think it’s making them look as good as they think it is. I know the money they will make will always speak louder than any online bickering about who’s better, but damn, I hope it works out for them long term, cause I’m not seeing it short term.

Re: BG3 Players Getting Banned On Xbox Is 'Annoying And Uncool', Says Larian Studios

Please don’t use this story to dogpile Xbox. It’s really not them being “Scummy” it’s just an unfortunate sequence of events. The auto upload shouldn’t be on by default. That’s it.

As we get more games with adult content, this is bound to happen. But whether or not you think that stuff should be on the network for everyone to see, is pretty much irrelevant, because they don’t want it there and that makes sense. I personally don’t care, but whatever.

Re: Xbox Sparks Fury Over Using AI-Generated Art To Promote Indie Games

InheritNegative

Ok this is a bit silly. I don’t like AI generated art as much as the next person. But I’m more alarmed by the outrage from these indie game enthusiasts… I mean, chill out. That one guy sounded like the worst game activist you’d never want to meet, so he couldn’t proceed to tell you you’re a bad person for buying anything made on a AAA budget…

It shouldn’t have been done, but it doesn’t actually matter in this context. As AI grows, it’s gonna become more commonplace and most likely harder to tell what’s generated and what isn’t. And that is scary for sure, but this seems like just a bad call to me.

Re: Starfield Dev Calls Out 'Unreasonable' Criticism From Some People On Social Media

InheritNegative

I stand by this guy entirely. He even said it far more diplomatically than I ever would. The arrogance, ignorance and childish behaviour of gamers is eternally frustrating and annoying. It’s what discourages me from even trying to get into game development.

Even some folks in these comments don’t get it and are being weird about it. But well, I guess that’s just the internet for you.

Point is, I recognise the work that went into Starfield and really like the game despite being able to point out its flaws quite clearly. Apparently that’s too hard for some? This game has irrationally become tied to the whipping post and we still got fools saying it’s not as good as a game they used to hate… That has had 7 years of updates. Superb logic there.

Re: E3 Is Officially Dead, ESA Confirms In New Statement

Pour one out. I know some game journo’s were always mad that the public viewed E3 as some big super fun time event and even attended it when they shouldn’t have, but screw them, E3 was amazing.

I loved Gamespots coverage in the early and mid 00’s. And even into the early 10’s a little bit. I had fun chatting during the livestreams, something I rarely find enjoyable at all, especially now. So many fond memories.

Super sad it had to end this way. The other showcases we get these days have never been quite the same. But it obviously makes more sense this way.

Re: Xbox Would Like Game Pass On 'Every Screen' Including PlayStation & Nintendo

InheritNegative

The whole thing is incredibly depressing for someone who has spent so much time and money on the Xbox ecosystem…

The thing that makes me mad is; Outside of a dozen games sporadically released over the last decade, what’s so special and earth shattering about PlayStation? Nothing, it’s just brand power. And the Xbox brand damage is practically irreversible at this point. I’m more than unhappy at Microsoft for letting Sony walk all over them and continuing to do so. Especially in marketing, as others have pointed out. In the UK the Xbox is a non entity, that is no exaggeration. I could easily just place all the blame on Don Mattrick for the Xbox One, but it’s not all his fault…

My PS1 and PS2 got a lot of use in their day, but my PS3 and PS4 were always secondary to me, I’ve always thought Xbox was a better place to be as a consumer. My only hope now, as things get bleaker, is that some day my library will remain intact and can be played on some other system or device. Whether that’s some other console or that streaming gets better to the point it’s indistinguishable from the real thing.

Re: Bethesda Has Started Responding To Negative User Reviews Of Starfield

InheritNegative

@themightyant The real problem was people doing nothing but that, because they thought it was going to be NMS 2 (bear in mind people hated that at launch too)

And to be fair, Bethesda didn’t do themselves any favours in their marketing and build to launch. But I can’t imagine they’d be that stupid to think they were infallible with what they were launching with. Either they were actually that naive or just couldn’t get it to where they wanted to be, in that area anyway.

I really like the game for the record. If they had hundreds of unique dungeons, instead of what feels like a dozen, it would make just one playthrough feel way better. Emphasis on playthrough, because I feel like some people just wanted it to be another endless survival-craft game.

And also, this is something that can be remedied both officially and unofficially, in the years to come. But gamers like to hold grudges…

Re: Microsoft Says 'No' To Horror Game That's Apparently 'Too Crazy For Xbox'

InheritNegative

Well it's their right to. I like the style, I just think it's another one of those edgelord games made by questionable folk.

@Pimpernel Not really, more things got banned back then and Manhunt was highly controversial. It got banned in several countries. I'd argue it's quite tame by today's standards, but the context of that game was the important thing.

This game seems a little more silly by comparison so I don't know how to feel about it, it has that retro look and feel of PS1 era shock value.

Re: Ark: Survival Ascended Is Coming To Xbox This November

Can't wait to play it in all it's glory at 10fps... UE5 can't save you from bad animation either. <.<

I'm just salty because I've always liked the look of this game's maps but, I've never had a machine that can run it well and I don't think that's gonna change being an S user. Game still seems janky as ever though.

Re: Xbox's Phil Spencer Was Dead Serious About Wanting To Acquire Nintendo In 2020

InheritNegative

@PsBoxSwitchOwner Gotta have ambition to make it to that position.

I'm kinda amazed how some of you may think this invalidates his passion as a "gamer" though... I mean yeah, of course he would want to essentially "win" the console war. But no one should act like Sony wouldn't wanna do the same. You may find it scummy with good reason and that's fine but, I'm pretty sure he does actually like gaming.

Re: Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Arrives On Xbox In February 2024

InheritNegative

@Tasuki I like that trilogy, but they are very different games, even in structure. I desperately want Tomb Raider to go back to the 3-4 huge tombs format, heavy on navigation and puzzle solving, less cinematic.

But that don't sell copies in this day and age. I have ideas in my head how to modernize it though.

Re: Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Arrives On Xbox In February 2024

InheritNegative

Very interesting. I actually like the visual treatment, I have a weird obsession over old visuals. The fact that you can swap between old and "new" probably won't satisfy most when both modes look dated.

Tomb Raider Anniversary is still my favourite TR game, so playing the original might be a little underwhelming for me, but a few years ago I played TR2 and was legit shocked at how enjoyable it was and not complete unplayable trash like I feared.

Re: No Man's Sky's 'Biggest Month In Years' Coincides With The Launch Of Starfield

InheritNegative

@Raw_Dawg It would be more fair to compare Starfield to NMS at launch. That game has had 7 years of updates from a team that can afford to dedicate its time to it.

I still don't even like the games being compared to each other to begin with. They're very different outside their basic premise. NMS is too procedural and infinite for me. I don't like that game's planets either, especially when they decided to make sure every rockface is dark and miserable after the 'Next' update.

I've kept up with what they've added over the years and it's impressive for sure, but it's still not quite what I want it to be.

Re: Quake 2 Remastered Dev Wants To Work On Xbox 360 Classic 'The Darkness'

InheritNegative

I played it all the way through at the beginning of the year, which I haven't done since it came out...

I was blown away. It may feel a little clunky now--which adds to it's uniqueness--but damn what an atmospheric and standout experience.

I'd trust Nightdive to do it justice if they ever get to and not mess with it too much, it's a really unique game. If anyone should do it, it's them.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Feel Like You're Still Waiting For 'Next-Gen' To Arrive?

InheritNegative

I'm surprised this is even a question.

You have to remember though, the console space has changed so dramatically. There aren't any hard set generations anymore. So I guess it's not surprising some of you are still waiting for "next gen". Defining what that means is different for everyone also

I personally don't feel like I'm still waiting for anything. I think it's been here for years already. To the point where these consoles are already feeling behind on performance, if we were to judge "next gen" purely on looks and how well games run.

I'm not someone who's always demanding innovation in design, and quite cynically I think game design already peaked long ago, sure there will be things here and there that surprise people but, I don't think we'll ever see consistent landmark changes like we did in the late 90's and 00's.
