A launch like this is basically a death sentence to an always online game. And I’ve always preferred TDU over FH, the latter has never done it for me quite like TDU did in its day. And Hong Kong island is an underrepresented environment for games. I bet this one dies off pretty quickly. Needlessly.
I wasn't aware this was launching without real estate... That is a massive fail. Ibiza (in some form) and a returning Casino feature are all great things, but my faith in this game being successful and popular for a full year is low, especially when Forza Horizon is more popular now than TDU ever was in its day.
@InterceptorAlpha No they most certainly weren't too small. There's a reason this exists and was in strong demand, being only able to run and boost to places--which was SLOW--was a serious, serious problem.
@DennisReynolds Again, no they aren't. Besides, NMS planets are equally monotonous, once you've landed on one you've seen everything it has to offer, you've seen it's parameters. There's literally no reason to travel across them like that other to go to PoI's, which you can just fly to.
Starfield had nothing other than fast travel, this vehicle will dramatically improve the game. I'm stunned you people don't realise that.
One of the very few games I thought would never cross over… It’s a flagship property and I thought it was perceived as something worth having an Xbox for…
@Steel76 Well at least you’re getting it at all. They could add everything everyone moaned about not being there and still get comments like that I’m sure.
Rational decisions like shutting down studios and raking in more money for yourself that could have kept them going!? Those decisions are the most rational…
Oh my god that Valby is ridiculous. They’ll sell a bunch of those.
If you’re gonna make a game to “sell sex” at least make the game part good? This game is so dumb and I’m not seeing any indication they’re addressing it. All they’re doing is undressing it.
Reading through the patch notes and checking the screens, I’m still not seeing any evidence of them adding back in limestone rock surfaces or anything that isn’t just black rock. I think I saw one screen that has blue rock surfaces. That’s something I suppose.
I’m glad they finally revised the planets and there are some impressive improvements… But the rock surfaces, man. Maybe Worlds part 2 😑
Well I was excited until I read the leaks. Some huge steps back there… I don’t think simplified characters and weapons does any good. I played the first one so many times I can’t bear to ever play it again, all it really needs it’s more varied and dynamic missions, less mechanical AI pathing and maybe a proper story, but that could go either way, it was bad enough hearing the same story dialogue on every mission.
I played it some more and it got worse. I’ve not played anything so soulless and bereft of originality. It’s a really shameless cash grab preying on those with bad habits and more money than sense. Korea has a knack for that.
If I had 10 mil people playing my ‘Cakeframe’ game, I’d be elated too. I just wish I could believe them when they say they wanna bring us great experiences because, I ain’t had one with it yet.
People compare it to Warframe but I think it has a little more in common with Outriders, it's like Outriders with a less interesting narrative and added Korean prettiness and sexualisation.
I don't think it's very good... It's a bit clunky and ultra repetitive. It does nothing interesting with character movement like I thought it would, at least not with the character I picked.
I still can’t believe that we might be getting the T-1000 without the T-800… T-1000 vs Conan just ain’t the same. I wish they’d have done it sooner in 11.
Also I have no idea how they’d handle the T-1000’s lack of bones and organs…
It’s all moot anyway cause I think this game is tragic.
That Metal Slug game was a neat mobile game, but it got shut down. I wonder how well it will translate to a console though, in terms of it feeling worthwhile.
I’ll never get over this game’s mistreatment. Releasing alongside MGSV was nothing short of complete moronic arrogance and further proves that WB are the worst publisher going today. Yes, worse than EA, Ubi or Take-Two… Well okay I’m not so sure about that last one after recent events.
I’m even more sad now because I didn’t know about the cut dlc. This game released, at least in my memory, super polished. And it kinda still proves to me that, releasing a finished quality product doesn’t mean much and certainly not if you release at a terrible time. I’m glad it eventually got recognition and sympathy in the end.
All I see this doing is making people dependent and dumber. Do I really have to quote Dr. Ian Malcom for the hundredth time? This may seem novel and cool at first, but it’s not good.
@ZYDIO Exclusives might not be the only reason but they are the biggest reason, let’s be real. People like us who care about ecosystems are in the minority. People are buying PlayStation’s, not only because that’s where all the games are but because that’s what’s perceived to be the “right” thing to do. Xbox is seen as “uncool” and failing. And now PlayStation users—and Nintendo users too—can sit very comfortably with their purchase because now they’re getting even more games.
This all may be a great business decision for Microsoft at large, but Xbox as a console brand is drowning right now. I think that’s very sad and entirely unnecessary because it all could have been avoided, if the right steps were taken years ago and by people who actually had a clue.
@Xbox_Dashboard I think you’re mistaken. Can you find any proof of this because that sounds completely false. An ESO+ subscription shouldn’t bypass a Gamepass Core subscription. It’s also not F2P, you still need to buy it first. Although strangely enough it’s included with Core which is required to play at all, which makes buying the base version completely pointless and a waste of money.
It “looks” like the game Wreckfest should have been and a true successor to FlatOut. But I saw the Steam reviews (because Xbox reviews are usually horrible) and was quickly disappointed to see it’s janky af.
But still I maintain the thought that Wreckfest is overrated, which is sad to me considering who made it. But that game has zero personality and cars that are made of candle wax. The damage at face value in this game seems more in line with FlatOut 2 but I could be wrong, but at least the drivers aren’t part of the cars and don’t get mangled into something unrecognisable.
Really bothers me when game critics sneak in general criticisms of games in their reviews, see it all the time on Gamespot. Can we stop bemoaning “collectathons”? Especially strange considering this game has like 240 tokens and 80 golden beetles… I’ve never understood why that sort of thing bothers people.
Also, I’m not a FIFA person or sports game person, but was that really a necessary jab?
Uh oh… There’s nothing worse than an uncapped framerate. Especially that low. “Aiming to go at around or higher” than 30 is really horrible, like bad bad, just cap it at 30 please.
Jesus F’ing Christ… I’m almost speechless. If you ever wondered why things are so dour in the industry right now, look no further than this idiot. We got so many unscrupulous ignoramuses in charge all over the place.
Well okay J.B from WB, you go chase that dragon and see where it gets you, it can’t possibly go wrong. There’s no evidence to support that it would, none.
I feel bad for HL fans because if this idea comes into fruition, you ain’t getting a game as good as that again.
I could never get into this game personally, it’s not really a “boomer shooter” as silly as that term is. It’s basically Doom 2016 with retro graphics, Prodeus was the same way. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing but that’s not how those games were. Closest thing to how old school shooters really were, recently, was Ion Fury. Which I love and have played through several times, I highly recommend that one. Has some amazing referential super secrets.
Mine’s not back, I was messing with it last night and added something to see if it stuck… It didn’t. However, today that one game has appeared and the rest are still gone. So I’m wondering if I unintentionally nuked my wish list. I recommend you all leave yours well alone until it comes back.
I fear this will be another disappointment for Xbox.
That trailer made me completely uninterested. The Fable name carries a lot of weight and when this is fully revealed to not only deviate, in tone, but gameplay as well… It won’t be good news. I’m sure it will look very pretty but we know that’s not enough.
@FarmDog08 People love to throw out “entitlement” to try and shut down fair criticism they don’t like. Please stop that mentality.
It’s harmless to bemoan games skipping Xbox. Given their baffling strategy and poor position they’re in right now, I can’t blame anyone for doing it. Yeah you could just go and buy more systems, but be real, not everyone can do that these days.
I’m mildly embarrassed for lambasting the camera earlier, because if you actually suck it up and relearn the tank controls and play it as intended, it’s fine. But it means that the modern controls are currently damn near unplayable and I wonder how that’ll be received. Not just the camera but shooting and jumping too.
Ah, I ‘love’ how “bloated” is a shopworn criticism now, you can’t escape that one these days, everything’s too big now apparently. 🙄
This game’s problem for me—and why I never wanted to try it—was it looked incredibly generic and unimaginative, like it was playing it too safe. I would love to see a fantasy game taking cues from 80s fantasy movies/games. That never happens. And with the way games are rendered now it’s all beginning to look so samey. I dunno why I went on this ramble here of all places, I’m sorry.
But yeah. It’s sad that we live in a world now where a game like this is a bad idea. And it’s even sadder that I don’t really disagree, but I think it could have done marginally better with a different aesthetic and a different release window… Plus the price, this is all getting so expensive now.
@TheGameThrifter Can’t put it any better than this. I don’t want to be too rude but I keep seeing the same folks being naive about it.
There’s every chance of what you said coming to pass if they say no more exclusivity. Currently it’s speculated that only some will go over, but as I’ve mentioned before, look at the reaction to just “some”.
And it’s not like Xbox has this deep bench of exclusives that drive sales… So why would they be willing to give away what little they have? That’s why the reaction people are having is justified, but whoever started this rumour has really done some serious damage, that’s for certain.
What we’ve been sold for years is that Xbox are acquiring all these studios to build a stable of exclusives—including the ordeal that was ABK—so that they can become competitive again. And this just screams “Nah, we out”
Admittedly even I can’t imagine a world where they get out of hardware entirely, but really, if it gets that dire, who’s buying it? How much legs does GamePass have really?
@Sakai Right? Like this could end up being as much of a landmark moment as Mattrick’s spectacular Xbox One faceplant… And yet that somehow doesn’t seem nearly as bad as this.
Someone at Microsoft must be just looking at the numbers, charts, graphs and whatever else, while being ignorant of human behaviour. The comments on this site alone have already shown eagerness to get out of Xbox. That’s not the response you should ever want and I sincerely hope they’re sweating right now, because if they’re not, they no longer care.
Well what a disaster all around. This all but confirms it, I’d be shocked if it didn’t. This strategy will tank their console sales to the point of no return if they keep going this way. Because I have zero faith that a rental service alone—because that’s all GamePass really is—is going to allow them to stay in the console market. And it’s increasingly looking like they don’t want to.
Phil is going to have to work a miracle to convince me that it’s okay to keep buying games in their ecosystem. Because at this moment in time, it’s looking bleak.
Xbox supporters: “Are we a joke to you, Microsoft?”
Simply put, I don’t want this to be true. If it is—and I bet it is—I truly believe they are being wilfully ignorant of how internet culture operates… This is yet further brand damage and it is reprehensible. They may think this is good for business but they are shooting themselves in the foot yet again and people like me will take the brunt of it.
Glad I snapped it up last year in a sale, still didn’t get round to playing it. But I did already finish it on Steam many years ago thankfully. Still, always sad to see delistings… I don’t know what the solution is, if any.
This is amazing news. It took forever to happen and I had to spend years seeing people claim they’d never do it because, apparently, this sort of thing doesn’t work on a controller… Even though console Planet Coaster exists 😑
@Widey85 I hope you’re not advocating for every game to be made with Unreal, I don’t want to live in that world. Besides, I’ve seen what Ark is like in UE5… And while Studio Wildcard have proven time and time again that they’re not the most technically proficient developers, survival games are typically demanding anyway.
I dunno, I think the switching between 1st and 3rd person could be super jarring. I suppose they wanted to give this its own identity and not look like another Tomb Raider/Uncharted while also sticking to what MG knows best. But I’d rather it just be 3rd person.
I have to say though, I was not aware that Troy Baker could do an excellent Harrison Ford impression 👀
Sounds awesome to me. As much as I was willing to put up with the tank controls, I do think it’s crucial to modernise them, those are not going to be palatable in 2024. I hope it all works out for this game.
@Kaloudz I think that would drive me crazy. I get frustrated that I don’t have enough time in life to play my old favourites AND play new ones. I envy you because it would be liberating to just look forward and never look back. 😅
@Kaloudz I think the vast majority of people don’t return to play old games again, outside of re-releases maybe. But I’m always returning to old games, but I acknowledge it isn’t all that common. I often worry about the future landscape of games because I’m weird and an outlier basically 😆
As long as I have an option to “buy” a game and not deal with subscriptions, I don’t care, but the day where subscribing to several publishers is the only way to play their games, well that’s just miserable. I will keep praying that never happens.
I think it’s absurd it’s gone this long without it, but it seems far too little too late, I wouldn’t try it unless it was the full experience.
I’m really not a fan of these pipe-dream PvPvE games, where the premise is built on the idea that people aren’t absolute hell to play with when in fact they are. My short time with SoT was downright miserable and I would have liked to play a Rare game in peace.

Besides, I’ve seen what Ark is like in UE5… And while Studio Wildcard have proven time and time again that they’re not the most technically proficient developers, survival games are typically demanding anyway.
Re: 'Indiana Jones And The Great Circle' Gameplay Has Landed, And It Looks Awesome
Re: Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Features Modern Control Scheme & 'A Few More Surprises'
Sounds awesome to me. As much as I was willing to put up with the tank controls, I do think it’s crucial to modernise them, those are not going to be palatable in 2024. I hope it all works out for this game.
Re: Ubisoft Wants Players To 'Feel Comfortable Not Owning Games' In Future
@Kaloudz I think that would drive me crazy. I get frustrated that I don’t have enough time in life to play my old favourites AND play new ones. I envy you because it would be liberating to just look forward and never look back. 😅
Re: Ubisoft Wants Players To 'Feel Comfortable Not Owning Games' In Future
@Kaloudz I think the vast majority of people don’t return to play old games again, outside of re-releases maybe. But I’m always returning to old games, but I acknowledge it isn’t all that common. I often worry about the future landscape of games because I’m weird and an outlier basically 😆
Re: Ubisoft Wants Players To 'Feel Comfortable Not Owning Games' In Future
As long as I have an option to “buy” a game and not deal with subscriptions, I don’t care, but the day where subscribing to several publishers is the only way to play their games, well that’s just miserable. I will keep praying that never happens.
Re: Sea Of Thieves' New Mode Is Proving Popular For Avoiding 'Toxic' Players
I think it’s absurd it’s gone this long without it, but it seems far too little too late, I wouldn’t try it unless it was the full experience.
I’m really not a fan of these pipe-dream PvPvE games, where the premise is built on the idea that people aren’t absolute hell to play with when in fact they are. My short time with SoT was downright miserable and I would have liked to play a Rare game in peace.
Re: Report Uncovers Three More 'SEGA Classics' That Could Return For Xbox Series X|S
I just want Outrun, or at the very least, I’d settle for a rerelease of Outrun 2006.
