Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Features Modern Control Scheme & 'A Few More Surprises'

Believe it or not Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered is less than a month away from coming to Xbox, and ahead of its impending launch, the team at Aspyr has provided a deeper look at lots of the new features coming with these classic Tomb Raider reimaginings.

Some of the headline changes here, or additions should we say, are to do with the game's visual presentation and control schemes. We already knew that the game will feature a Halo MCC-style graphics toggle, and we now know that the controls will be getting a similar treatment.

In the new remasters, players will be able to choose between the original 'tank' controls and a modern control scheme. The modern mechanics "take inspiration from the Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld era of Tomb Raider" - so you can expect these titles to play much closer to those Xbox 360 releases if you opt for the modern scheme.

There are also some bonus quality-of-life features packed into this collection - like new 3D sprites to make pickup items feel more tangible, a dedicated Photo Mode, and the option to add boss health bars to keep track of your progress during those big fights. Despite these changes and additions, the team is committed to "honor the foundations of the franchise" in Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered.

If you want to read up on all of the new info in a bit more detail, you can check the PlayStation Blog's latest post and soak it all in ahead of the collection's February 14th launch. Oh, and the team says to expect "a few more surprises" packed into the final release as well.
