Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 14-15)

I will be continuing Doom the dark ages (fantastic so far) and Marathon runs (solo). Initially I thought they didn't have a dedicated solos mode but turns out they do, so that helps me at least cause I dont want to keep dodging teams of 3. Also in the game you can switch to 'console only' so you aren't playing against PC if you dont want to. I know some dont care about that but ive lost some reflexes over the years and need all the help I can get..

Re: Talking Point: Are You Happy With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate In 2026?

FatGuyInLilCoat

@themightyant This for me as well. I could care less about owning the game, as I play a game once, uninstall it, and will never touch it again. Also I feel most games can still be bricked by the developers on their end these days that no one really owns anything. People say they dont have time for all these games coming out but then say they are on their 3rd playthrough of some 100 hour game...im like, there's your problem...

@Fiendish-Beaver as for the switch controller, im sure you are aware and may or may not have one, but are you talking about their "pro" controllers that look/feel similar to xbox or just the Joycon controller? I also am not a fan of their controller but ive felt their pro controller for switch 2 in a store (i think for like $100?) and it felt pretty good.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Happy With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate In 2026?

I've been an ultimate subscriber for years (and still am). I did not stack, so I get charged $30 monthly. My first instincts after the price raise was to cancel, but then they doubled rewards points so I thought id just stick it out a while longer...then they started messing with that. What kept me in was FOMO, I thought MS was going to consistently release first party games every month or two like they did a year ago...that has not happened. Then I thought well there at least going to show their appreciation by putting awesome 3rd party games only to ultimate? That also has not happened, as clearly premium gets everything day 1 as well.

So no, im not happy with ultimate and will finally, after years, downgrade. I held out as long as I could MS, but if you dont care, then I dont care.

I did buy Marathon, but am having a little "buyers remorse" as I realize how much the game is really built around teams and even more around teams of friends. None of my friends game anymore. I thought it could still be fun solo but im not having that much fun, but can see it being a lot of fun with friends. I dont mind pairing with random but of course that is always a crapshoot.

Other than that im on Chapter 4 Doom the dark ages.

Re: Xbox Is Teasing Something 'Very Cool' For Game Pass This Month, Possibly Cyberpunk 2077

FatGuyInLilCoat

@Millionski there's been definitely more than just one day 1 releases this year. High on life 2, Mio: memories in orbit, TCG cardshop simulater, towerborne im sure they will count as it leaves early access and starts on the service etc. Im sure there are more. Plus some will be exclusive to PC gamepass. Not saying they dont have a long way to go but there are probably more like 5 - 10 so far

Re: Starfield Is Reportedly Launching For PS5 On April 7th, With Pre-Orders Starting This Month

FatGuyInLilCoat

I hope it does well for just the devs sake. I actually have yet to play it, simply due to the fact I just dont do well with massive games that take 100+ of hours to finish anymore. I get bored around the 20-30 hour mark so I aim for games around there. Maybe now with all the updates it is in a better place?

Edit: I should add, no i cant just stick to the main storyline lol. My OCD wont let me. If I see a cave or random corner on the map, my FOMO kicks in and I have to check it out

Re: 'Return To Our Roots' - Xbox CEO Reiterates Her Goals For The Future

FatGuyInLilCoat

Someone needs to ask her to define "roots". I have a feeling what I think Xbox roots are versus hers are very different.

As others have said there is a small fear in the back of my head that Phil knew they were killing off Xbox and didnt want to be remembered as the guy who ended Xbox (whether it was his fault or not). So he gracefully "retired" and this new girl is here for a couple years to be the fall guy (girl).

Re: Xbox Boss Explains Her Gamertag Activity, Says 'Faking Would Be A Terrible Idea'

FatGuyInLilCoat

@Fiendish-Beaver No I agree, his body language and appearance looked as if he was clearly defeated. But on the other side of it you don't become the head of Xbox and then get a piece of duct tape put over your mouth. I do believe he had way more sway and decision making then just "Welcome to the head of Xbox with a million dollar salary, now just sit there and make no decsions."

I definitely agree and see where you are coming from, but I believe he was heavily involved in spearheading this multiplatform push and 'everything is an xbox'.

One thing for sure is I am somewhat excited for this change in leadership, I think it was long overdue. I don't care if she plays 100's of hours or games or not, I just want someone who knows what's best for Xbox as a brand, and understands what makes a console sell. They are and have been in a position to be a dominant console manufacturer. They have the studios, IPs, and money. They just got impatient at the worst possible time.

Re: Xbox Boss Explains Her Gamertag Activity, Says 'Faking Would Be A Terrible Idea'

FatGuyInLilCoat

@Fiendish-Beaver there was an article yesterday suggesting that Phil and Bond made a lot of the decisions lately (not Nadella) which is what caused Xbox to subsequently plummet. Not saying your wrong, because unless you are sitting in on these ceo meetings no one will ever know who truly pulls the strings, but i question how much Phil stood up for xbox recently. Im already thinking, based solely off her words and no actions yet, she will stand up for xbox better than Phil.

Re: Xbox's 'Pivot Away From Console' Had Been Failing And Questioned At Microsoft, Claims Report

FatGuyInLilCoat

This is what I have been thinking for a long while now. I've said previously I think Phil has a lot more say than people give credit. A lot have said he was just a puppet to Nadella and his hands were tied...but the truth is no one truly knows what goes on in the meetings and I believe Phil was indeed behind a lot of these decisions. Since they have failed miserably, it is no coincidence the team behind them is suddenly "retiring".

Re: Xbox's Blizzard Team Is Preparing For Its 'Biggest Year Yet' In 2026

FatGuyInLilCoat

@Fiendish-Beaver yeah they fumbled this acquisition. This acquisition could've easily put them far ahead in terms of console sales if done right. Not saying they should've gated every game, but had they done the majority people would've easily bought an xbox to play them. They just grew inpatient from the decades long disasters beforehand.
