Talking Point: Do You Think We'll See PS6 & Project Helix In Action This Summer?

The end of May is nigh, which means summer showcase season is right around the corner. This time of year always brings loads of amazing new game reveals, but 2026 feels a little different, with next-gen consoles on the horizon. So, do you think we'll actually see either PS6 or Project Helix — or some of the games that'll be running on them — this summer?

Honestly, we're not sure right now. If next-gen launches next year in earnest (and that's still a big if right now), it feels like we should start knowing a bit more about the hardware powering the next console cycle very soon. However, with global uncertainty still being a factor in what seems like everything right now, it feels as though these tech companies may opt to stay a little quieter until closer to launch this time around.

Having said that, we'd still like to see — or maybe even just hear — a bit more about them next month; definitely Project Helix and what Microsoft's plans are for that. The whole PC/console hybrid sounds very interesting and honestly pretty appealing - it just feels like we need to see more of it in action. Show us how all that works, show us the software, maybe even show us a game or two that's targeting the next Xbox? That'd be lovely, Microsoft!

Anyway, we just wanted to get some discussion going here as we head into showcase season in the coming weeks. Do you think we'll see anything of the new consoles next month? Any hardware reveals or maybe some of the software that'll be running on them? Get speculating in the comments!

It’s obvious that Project Helix will be shown at the Xbox Showcase. In what form, we don’t really know yet — will we get the final name of the console, will we actually see what it looks like, will they present its features? We’ll find out soon enough.

Maybe some excuse of a teaser, but nah; can't see a full reveal till at least the Game Awards this Christmas 🙂

Not chance of seeing either of them.

Price is so important, look at the PS5 sales slump last month, will be interesting to see May sale numbers.

I think they are going to need to change something or next generation could be the biggest flop in history.
Don’t forget we will probably also have cross generation most of next generation and diminishing returns will be higher as well.

They could do a tech demo as say this is next gen ray tracing vs current. Not sure why they would cause it’s not around the corner to launch. Not to mention specs and tweaks will likely still take place and might not be the final build. Really just want them both to focus on the last few big titles these consoles have coming. Then shortly after let’s wrap this console cycle up and get to new exciting hardware. Jason spoke about the architecture advances the Helix will have and of course more raw power. The next consoles will be able to do things Series X and PS5 simply can’t and get consoles out of 30fps modes.

No and we dont need them both. 2028 summer tease and 2028 november release date would do fine.

Xbox series X and PS5 are doing fine, PS5 PRO only started to get traction. The only console struggling is series s.

I am also confident that Helix is far from being ready, looking at how much work needs to be done on the xbox ally. Dont get me wrong - they do a lot of amazing work and we have constant updates, yet core problems are not resolved such as updates/windows popups/bugs when launching games from other stores/lock screen revamp and so on - the list is huge. It still feels like a windows PC rather than xbox. In order to win xbox gamers next gen they trully need to align console and PC experience.

Maybe a little sneak peek, but I don't think so.

I don't think we'll see any new consoles on the market until November 2027, so officially unveiling them would be too premature.

I also think these will be the last ones, I don't think there will be another Xbox after Helix or a PS7, at least not as traditional consoles, so from now on, a lot of things we used to take for granted could change.
