Unfortunately it is half true though. I admit myself I skip out on some of the games I would've bought because I'll wait for a gamepass release or my game backlog is growing every month due to gamepass. Example, resident evil 4 remake. The last two remakes came to GP so I assume 4 will eventually make its way (even if it takes 2 years). GP has conditioned some people (not all) to just wait it out or I guess it wasn't meant to be, especially Gamers with less and less time to actually game.

I like the state of decay series. I wish they wouldn't have announced it 3 years ago then just go radio silent with its progress. Just announce games when it's about a year from release with some developer updates along the way and gameplay trailers. MS needs to do so much better with advertising their games, big and small.

@HonestHick If Gears goes over i'm fully done with Xbox lol. May sound like a childish thing to say but at this point it truly is the only franchise holding me on to the platform.

I mean, it is what they promised...all first party day 1 on gamepass. And if you buy the whole industry, those are now first party, which means day 1 on gamepass. They are famous for backtracking though so who knows.

They're barely releasing any 1st party games. if a new AAA/AA first party game was released every 2-3 months (they have like 40 studios), then I guarantee it would go up. But we are going on like another 7 month stretch of no first party. Not to mention when one finally does release and isn't well received.

I've been a supporter of Xbox since the OG but this is ridiculous. Next gen might be the first gen I skip and go all in on the other two. It is let down, after let down with them. Always 1 step forward and 18 steps back. It took me a lot longer than some others to see what everyone else were saying "They lie, they are bad for the industry" etc. etc. but I see it now. Phil needs to go.

Don't they say this every year? Have they ever said "we are a little worried about are showcase and the games". I will say after the last few have been pretty damn good though and I prefer Xboxs showcase over any of the others.

Finishing Dead Island 2 then probably start Jedi Survivor.

Wish they could have spread the love a little more evenly throughout the year. It'll be late May till we get a game that takes 5 hours to beat. But those titles do look great and can't wait for Indy amd Avowed

@AccessibleDaydream migraines are the worst. I never really got them until recently and now I understand how crippling they can be when they are at their peak.

I figured it had to be soon. Usually EA games hit EA play after about the 1 year mark.

Dead Island 2, but will likely switch to fallout 4 when the update comes out. Never played fallout 4 so it'll be the perfect time to do so

Bought the game and played for a bit. Fun for a couple hours, but after doing like 10 trials it got repetitive for me. While they have a bunch of skills and upgrades that unlock the more you play, it still didn't encourage me to keep grinding. Also it started taking a long time to find a match and rarely ever a full one even with crossplay.

Excited for this one. Very talented studio!

Having a hard time getting into a game lately. I keep starting one and getting bored after a couple hours. I'll probably check out something light like botany manor today until this slump passes

I am part of the problem. I hardly buy games anymore. With new games coming onto gamepass every 2 weeks, I always have stuff to play/try. I buy like 1 game a year. Forgive me.

@CutchuSlow I mean, i like to know MS's plans for 2024. If I'm going to invest in a platform I'd like to know they have a solid lineup coming in the next several months. Obviously we have to live in the 'now' but to know the future plans of a company is not asking to much.

@ValentineMeikin this is the perfect game that should go multiplat. A free to play live service type fighter that desperately needs a player base to survive. All single player and key franchises (indy, starfield, halo, gears, fable etc.) should remain exclusive. But obviously they are gonna put those on PS too eventually

Checking out some Outlast Trials. It's pretty fun when you play with people (even though I just play with randoms), but I can see it getting very repetitive quickly. Plus I think the player base is already suffering cause even though I have crossplay enabled it can time out for taking to long to find a match/group. But when you do find a full group it has been fun.

@Matthewnh you didn't have to read that far, it is literally in the title of the article "All digital Xbox Series X".

@Friendly I like a lot of the indies too, but i dont think creating a 3rd tier will fix the problem of MS not shelling out big $$ like they used to for indie studios in order to secure their game on gamepass, which is the issue they are referring to. MS is instead offering them smaller amounts since they are in a much better position (in terms for in house studios and gamepass subs) then they were a few years ago. It's funny though cause even with now 40ish first party studios, we are still going half a year without a single new first party game

I have a feeling Jedi Survivor should be hitting gamepass ultimate soon, since it'll be part of EA access. I believe I read most games will hit EA access at the 1 year mark which is coming up. Dead Space remake was right about then

I currently only have an Xbox but lately been thinking about getting a PS cause I think those games interest me a bit more. Plus if I own both it's a win win.

Always wanted to check out Evil West, and still haven't played diablo 4 yet. That's a solid offering

@Phil-Spencer-Gate I know, I said they are not first party, but they are only playable (console wise) on playststion. They are some of the biggest releases of the year not playable on xbox. And when Sony says multiplatform I belive they are referring to PC. They likely won't put any first party games on xbox. I do have high hopes for avowed and Indiana Jones, but right now the exclusives in the first half they year in PS are very good.

That said i am excited for Xboxs first party lineup going forward, I just feel like with their now like 30+ studios they should be pumping out high quality exclusives like a well oiled machine at this point

@Phil-Spencer-Gate "While having a better lineup than Sony". That is subjective. Sony has already released Helldivers 2, Finally Fantasy 7 Rebirth, about to release Rise of the Ronin, followed by Stellar Blade. MS will release hellblade 2 in the first 6 months. I know those aren't first party, but they aren't on xbox so it is part of Sonys lineup and those games are reviewing amazingly so far. I'm not sure how Avowed will be, it looked clunky to me, but I hope it is good. Indiana Jones will likely be the highlight for xbox this year.

Started Control Ultimate Edition, never played it before so sounds like a good place to start

@CallMeDuraSouka Sony is starting to put some games on PC but u don't see any of the games coming to xbox. MS console sales are too small for Sony to care to appease to that market, because a chunk of those xbox sales are people who own both xbox and PS5 console owners (making the market even smaller).

If given the Resident Evil or Dead space level treatment I'm all for it, if it is just a resolution bump or fps bump I won't buy the same game twice for that.

Can you choose who you want to crossplay with? For example you only want to crossplay with other players on PS5 for mortal Kombat matchmaking? I know it doesn't matter too much for these games but down the road if they do cross play with fps games, I'd be okay with crossplaying with ps5 players but not mouse and keyboard players

Probably going to try to finish Resident Evil 3 Remake, then restart the dead island 2 playthrough I began when it was on free play days.

Nice, have yet to play this but loved the first one. Looks like now is a good time to check it out. Currently playing dead island 2 and resident evil 3 on GP (I know, zombies up the a**).

@CutchuSlow to be fair they said major "releases", not major "games". Expansions on the level of like cyberpunk or witcher 3 certainly can be considered as a major release, even though it's not a new game

@Sol4ris just curious, can you name 1 game that would thrive on a low player count? You make it seem like hi fi rush makes sense cause itll thrive on many platforms, but it is single player. So you must mean it'll thrive because of sales. Which, wouldn't all games thrive because of more sales?

@abe_hikura This. There has to be a reason to buy a console and that is exactly what exclusives do. Take away the exclusives and you have no reason to really even get one.
